You are just wrong. Clearly you've never actually watched NBA basketball "back then." The 60's, 80's and 70's were the 3 highest scoring decades in league history. Ever hear of the Magic Johnson led Lakers? They were not slow. The league back then was rough and a little dirty, yes, but that's because the last 20 years of NBA players are way softer and the league as a whole became way softer due to incidents such as the Malice at the Palace. I can name at least 20 superstars outside of the Bulls. @@chrisuncleahmad

To me, after watched 40+years of NBA, the 80s and 90s were the most entertaining period. You could almost see fires for players eyes. Teams literally wanted to destroy each other. Every franchise player had shown leadership and never gave up on every single game. That broil my blood. Scores seems lower but way more physical and and the tough shots are really "tough".

I only started watching the NBA since 2010 and enjoy studying the history and evolution of the NBA. I agree that today's NBA is missing what made the past eras great -- guys playing hard, guys playing with passion and pride in their game, superstars asking for the challenge of guarding the opposing superstar, men battling it out in pursuit of being the alpha, men rising up to the physical challenge instead of foulbaiting and flopping.

  • @NickPR87
    @NickPR87 10 месяцев назад +38

I started consciously watching the NBA in 1991 as I was too young to remember anything before that and to me the mid-90's to mid/late 2000's was the peak for basketball. The game doesn't need to go back to that level of physicality to be enjoyable again, but it certainly needs refs to ease off on the foul calling and rein back on the player empowerment that has nurtured the current breed of stars in the league.
There are only a handful that share the mentality and attitude of the old NBA as far as competitiveness and earning their stripes.

Today's NBA is softer than baby poop 👶 💩 . The 80'-90's NBA was brutal; that's what makes Michael Jordan the GOAT 🐐 because he accomplished everything he did in such a tough league where players would tear your head off in that era. Remember the "Jordan Rules" when the Pistons were trying to hurt MJ because he was such a threat on the hardwood? I would say the end of the tough era in the NBA was maybe around 2003. MJ never load managed. What are you talking about? He tried to play in every game for multiple reasons, one is that he knew fans were buying tickets to show up to see just him. So he tried to bring his best every night for that one fan that might only be able to afford to go to one game in their city an they bought tickets to the one time Chicago would visit their city that whole year. An they might have bought those tickets months in advance. He tried to play every game of every year. He played in all 82 nine of the fifteen he played in, 80 in one season 81 in another an 78 in another. The only times he played below 78 was his second year when he broke his foot, the 94/95 season when he came back from baseball an one year with the Wizards when he was injured. MJ never load managed, never! He was also too competitive to do that.
After his broken foot healed the team load managed him an he hated it, absolutely hated it. Couldn't wait to get back on the court.
I don't know where you heard that load of nonsense that he load managed more than someone else, but it is pure nonsense. You clearly didn't watch MJ an you also clearly don't know what kind of player he was.
He personally never load managed, the Bulls made him do it during a part of one season an he fought against it to a point where his coach could have got fired had he gave in to what Jordan wanted. Which was to be put in the game more than Bulls management would allow.
Whoever told you that I highly recommend you stop listening to.@@PIP...33

It's all about money an getting people to watch so they make up stories to tell. It can be a beautiful game without all that.

As a millennial that really got into basketball probably in the early to mid 2010s, I was used to seeing the game pretty much in it's modern form. Recently I went back to see what was the skillset that made Jordan the greatest of all time. I was absolutely shocked to see that Jordan's bread and butter was pretty much back to the basket, bumping the defender and then hitting a turnaround jump shot. Kobe was pretty much the same. That of course was mixed with great driving, dunking, passing etc. It's just interesting to me that the mid range mastery is what made the greatest player of all time, and players these days are keying on either shooting the 3 or driving for a layup.

The rebounding stat and the assist stat are the 2 biggest overrated stats in the league. 4 offensive players are out at the 3 point line, the shot gets chucked up, clangs off the rim , and falls into the lap of one of the defense and he gets credit. No boxing out , no having to fight for the ball.
A guy hands a ball to some one or passes it to him 5 feet away. That guy goes up for a three , makes it, and the other guy gets an assist. Ridiculous

I've been a Chicago Bulls fan since their inception, 1966-67. I've played and watched a lot of basketball but as of today, I no longer watch the NBA! Forced shots, a disdain for offensive rebounds, shooting mostly 3's, not running a formal offense like the triple post, celebrating a dunk 2 minutes into a game, coaches not actually coaching, (they have become expensive "time out callers"), nonchalant defense, etc. This game used to be somewhat strategic, now it's like a gym class where the teacher rolls out a rack of basketballs and say pick teams and go! The NBA is now one giant "pick up," game with each player being an independent contractor, playing for his next contract! R.I.P NBA!

player like Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons. When The Pistons played the Lakers in the NBA
finals Thomas severely sprained his ankle. He was hellbent on playing the next day. It was painful

Look at Gilbert Arenas, who does sum up the feelings of alot of players today, he honestly clowns Champions because he has more money than them. What's true in any argument is that when you realize that you can't win the argument, you mention money.
Someone will always make more money than you but when you're a champion, you're a champion forever.
