      I agree they need to do a better job marking those areas that look like every other open trail and river but are closed. How hard is it to put a few boulders, or steel cable or signs that can't be removed. The government is just lazy and wants to entrap people and then have an excuse to close more lands so they have less area to monitor.

    Great video. If they close that trail to people offroad vehicles and say people can hike in, that will close the trail for me and some of my friends that use jeeps. I'm 64 and a disabled vet. Walking in doesn't work for me. One of the friends that will be coming to Arkansas this year is a 74-year-old dabbled vet (I got him watching your videos now and he wants to go, camp, and fish.) He has Agent Orange and everything that goes with it. There is no way he could walk in. The people that just don't give a dam about the rules and "Leave No Trace" will ruin it for everyone. #1 they need signs showing where the real trail is #2 drop some big trees or rocks to block the part that isn't a trail. 3# places like that waterfall need signs posted stating what the law is and the fine #4 because there is no reason for them driving on the waterfall and some people still will, the fines should be two or three times more than they are. Or the people that get caught on the waterfall should pay the fines that are in place and be banned from the trails. #5 If the state doesn't charge extra for off road vehicle access it should. If it's lack of funding for signs and education, maybe some event to help raise funds and awareness in the rules and what will happen if people keep ignoring them. They do one in MOAB every year to help clean up the area or it would be closed. Thanks again for the video. I hope I can get there this year and it's not closed.

    Matt, I think that you put out high quality vids with good info. Which leads me to a recommendation. Why don't you write up a "Handbook for Overland" manual so we can have a hard copy to study. Might make a little cash on it by selling it. If writing is not your thing then maybe a consortium with Kevin of Lifestyle Overland and TrailRecon would be willing to help. There was a comment by a Horse riding organization below that made a lot of sense. No. 2: As much as I respect what the Forest Service does, I am less impressed on their trail marking ability. And maps. It seems that their office hours are very regular. So getting a copy of their maps is not very customer friendly. You guys are a wealth of info for this community. Just a suggestion.

  • @abouttime7316

    While I agree we all want the trails to stay clean and open, you shouldn’t get angry for folks following what looks like an actual trail. We all can’t afford to buy subscriptions, pay apps or know the areas to see what is not a true trail. I bet if someone made trails available for free it would help keep people on course.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures

    • @Soul-driven

      The forest service puts out maps called MVUM (Motor vehicle use maps). If you are on forest service land you are not allowed on any road that is not on the MVUM. Period. No side trails just because some other goofus decided to take off into the woods off the main road and left tracks behind for some other goofus to take. Know before you go. Get the maps. They are free and you can even download them.

    The government can take some responsibility too instead of just taking a way public land. How hard would it be for them to put up a sign saying this isn't a trail? Or put a steel cable across. Or some boulders. Stuff like this is entrapment. If they don't want someone going down something that looks like a trail they can easily let us know.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Год назад +1

      @@OzarkOverlandAdventures That looked like every single trail you've driven on or hundreds of streams you crossed so it's easy for people to get mixed up unintentionally. On your drive out when you were through the open forest that looked more off trail to me then that one by the waterfall.
      All I'm saying is if they are quick to close lands they can put a little more effort into marking boundries. Almost al people would respect that and it would go a long ways. I'm sure most of us could agree.
