Wheeling The Legendary Rubicon Trail in a Jeep Gladiator l On The Trail
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- Guided by Bob Sweeney of Jeepers Jamboree, we took 3 purpose-built Jeeps through the world-famous Rubicon Trail. Ali Mansour drove his Jeep Gladiator cross-country to take on this trail - something he wasn't sure he'd return unscathed in with its long wheelbase. He's joined by Harry Wagner and his Jeep Wrangler LJ. The Rubicon Trail is known for its payoff-great rock crawling and spectacular views. The group lands at an amazing campground, Rubicon Springs, to hear more of the trail's history, from it's builders to the ones that facilitated its emergence.
Follow along with us on this epic journey On The Trail!

Doing Jeepers Jamboree in 2023, this was one of the best Rubicon videos I've seen, thank you!
Great trip with great people. In Bob we trust!
Wheeling with the legend! What a treat to run the Rubicon with Bob. Cheers fellas! Great trip
Good show! We had a Gladiator that was stock except for bigger tires on run through the trail. Not even a Rubicon. We dragged and pushed that truck all the way through. It impressed me. We came out into Tahoma and I asked the guy if he was stressed at all. No, I’m an ice climber. Hahahaha! I don’t think his wife and kids felt as confident! So many legendary stories made on that trail. Driving to the trail from Indiana was one of the most epic experiences of my life. I hope to do it many more times!
Did the Rubicon years back… stumbled on this.. so glad to see it going strong! I’m now a backpacker and it’s soo important to leave no trace… some of the thru trails are overwhelmed with poop and tp…
Kudos for all the work the Sweeney are doing!
Ali and Harry in one video.
Both hosts content are the only reason I subscribe to Driving Line.
And of course seeing Nittos at work too.
Thank you so much for the kind words John. This one was a lot of fun.
Did the Rubicon twice. While the experiences were different, they were both a blast. Driving Line guys did an awesome job in capturing the essence of the trail.
Big Stinky is the real hero, here! Thanks for all you do!
This was awesome!!! Rubicon is on my bucket list!!! The mean yellow Jeep really ate up the terrain! Great video, great people! Thank you
Just got a Glady Rubi and loved this video, Appreciate it.
I really enjoy all your videos and think you guys do a awesome job on them all, but this one right here is another level from the drone shots to the ground camera and the talking with the history. It’s all a incredible job. What a epic trip for a east coaster to make in that well built rig🎉🙌🙌💪
Thank you!
Seems like Bob has a great attitude. I bet that's a huge plus for keeping it fun on such a stressful trail.
Mr bob and his jeep is literally the human version of a mountain goat! He can go anywhere! And his knowledge and generations of history is just awesome what an experience that had to be!
New gladiator owner here and this is definitely a bucket list item for me! Awesome video!
I was really wanting to see Ali in a ford Ranger :)
I wish I still had my Ranger. It would have been a long drive to California with that 3.0l though! 😂
Great video!! Bob made this special
Nice! My flop was in the Vee groove! The restrooms and those who support them are much appreciated. They really do a great job. I remember spider lake before they cleaned it up. It was horible. So many "white flowers". It's a huge improvement now. The last time I was there was the flood year and they got the trail opened back up quickly. Rubicon Springs is really an oasis. It's so calming there. They allowed us to camp in the closed area. Could have spend a whole week camping there. I'm sure all of the Jeep maid the climb look easy. I remember getting stuck on the stair step on the frist leg up with my SWB Jeep. The front LSD wouldn't lock up fast enough and would slide the Jeep to the edge. Other than that, it was a pretty easy climb out. Seeing video of the trail always reminds me of the fun times and friends I've met there.
I wish I could wheel the rubicon with Bob as my guide. He's just filled with interesting information.
I've never been to the rubicon and i want to this coming year!
If you sign up for the Jeepers Jamboree, you can meet Bob and get the guided tour of the Rubicon. Well worth it.
Great video! I was booked to do the Rubicon back in 2021 but had to cancel last minute due to the wildfires. I really hope to get back out there soon and see this national treasure for myself. Ali & Harry did a fantastic job and Bob Sweeney is such a legend to get you guys through the trail in the most memorable way possible.
Awesome video, FANTASTIC production and editing! Y'all made me want even more to do this - it's on the bucket list for sure - though this convinced me that I'd want to have my JT taken to the next level before attempting. Guess I just need to start saving. :) Thanks for sharing the great adventure!
The trail becomes more legendary as more Jeeps wheeling through
I love the idea of you and Harry teaming up. That core group of old Petersen guys need to all get together and create content. Great job on this video as always.
Unfortunately Ali and I live across the country from each other. 😢
Well done guys!!
First off, all your videos are very good, but this one is memorable, spectacular and fun to watch. I learned a lot about the Gladiator's capability in this video, a big thanks for that. I live in Lakeview Oregon and some of the trails up here are similar to what you show in your video. But nothing that's as technical for as many miles. Since we just bought the Gladiator this fall we haven't been out on any trails since the snow was early and heavy. The Gladiator is a HUGE step up from our modified 1989 Suzuki Sidekick so we are excided to get the Gladiator out as soon as possible. Thanks again for the great video, it's really one of the best RUclips videos.
Great video and love that you list the builds of the Jeeps. Definitely on my Bucket list.
My son and I plan on running it in July 2023, coming from Ontario Canada.
Awesome! Report back how you did!
What a great episode! Bob is da man!
I have been jeeping for 30 years but never made it to the rubicon. It is definitely on the list though.
That was epic it would have been nice to see a run down on Bob’s TJ
What an awesome trip! Great video, almost like I was there.
Great video! Getting the sense of the history along with the wheeling was just a perfect combination.
Fantastic video gentlemen!!!
Great video. We went on "the trail" two times this year. Our first time ever was in the snow, reverse down to Rubicon Springs and back May 14th. Had a little tailgate mishap. Second time all the way through. Great trips!
Awesome video aka movie! I have to go to the Rubicon. So close living in Reno.
this video alone made me a subscriber. Well done
The Ford f250 is my hero.
Incredible video l have been dreaming of doing the Rubicon in my LJ for years definitely on my short list 🙌.
Thank you for posting this video. Gladiator is definitely on the wish list, with mods of course.
Awesome video and an awesome trail! Next time I'm visiting my house on Topsail Island, we need to connect. It would be great to meet you back in my home State of NC!
Love this video
Awesome vid. Well done- Gladiator 🤘
Great vid...my favorite summer place to be
one of my dream😔
Great video! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 ❤️ The Rubicon.
They need a newby weekend on the trail where all the first timers get to go and are guided by a pro......
Harry!
Another great video! Always enjoy seeing what the JT is capable of. One day would like to wheel with an awesome group like y’all!
Nice video thank you for sharing.
Did it in 1974 in a 1973 Bronco Ranger, Great
Holy crap! That poop pumper truck looks like Fred and Dave built it on DED!
We love the poop truck
Xlnt video. Thanks
I'm headed up in July from Oregon. I'm looking forward to being on the trail for the first time. I'm coming up with the Salem Jeepers. What would you say is an absolute thing i need to bring? I'm bringing a 95 YJ with a 4.5" lift siting on 33" wheels. I have a winch, boat sides, and locked in the front. I still have the low trans pan I haven't switches to sye to raise it up. Any sections I should stay away from with 33" tires?
That's one shitty truck I wouldn't mind wheeling 😆
Great looking trip! Love those Jeeps! Would love to see the specs on the LJ.
Here ya go! ruclips.net/video/g8hZx6bYrD0/видео.html
What was that music you played at around 18:40?
Curious about that 1908 mitchell touring sedan that was the first to do the rubicon. is there any info out there about it and the first crossing?
Good thing it doesn't take 40,000$ in mods in a jeep to do that trail.
To much work give me the beginners trials I lived on the edge for 12 years with the army now I want a nice slow scenic view ride
How about a mod rundown for the Gladdy?
I have a bunch of videos on this channel breaking down all of the mods. The quick and dirty are as follows.
3 Inch JKS lift with Fox 3.0 shocks
Dynatrac ProRock XD60 (72.5 WMS) 5.38 gears, ARB rear, Eaton front
PSC Hydro assist
JE reel drivelines
40x13.50 Nitto Trail Grapplers
17x8.5 Trail Ready Beadlocks with 5.5 inches of backspacing
Rugged Ridge front bumper, winch and fender chop
AA products universal bed rack
Ali great video what date were you there ?
This was filmed in August.
So automatic is superior in the Rubicon trail. I am yet to see one person do this in a manual.
I actually wish my Jeep had a manual. Probably 90% of the Toyotas on the Rubicon have a manual with low gears.
