You thoroughly explained this perfectly! Great job, Jessica! When it comes to fashion and labels I believe their are so many interpretations as you point out! In 20 years styles today will be vintage!

Thank you so much for watching, Samantha!!
I know!! Isn't that crazy!? Style from the 2000's is vintage now. That is ridiculous.

Love your personality! Makes it very interesting to watch the video. Vintage is definitely a great style I wish I was born a few decades back when it was way more trendy 💛

Thank you so much for your comment, Joly. The beauty of wearing vintage inspired pieces is that they are readily available and affordable. xx

After watching this I am thinking about the fact that under some of these definitions almost everything I am looking at right now except some bookshelves and medical devices falls into the vintage or antique category and I fear much of what is in my closet as well but not because I am any kind of skilled thrifter but rather because I keep wearing things I really love😬 I think I am in real trouble post 2025 if I don'thave need for a wardrobe overhaul before then, my shopping fell off considerably after that! 🤪 (thankfully the clothes aren't over 100 years old though so not making antique status there!) I will maybe take the kinder interpretation (to me) and pretend that vintage clothes need to be from the 70s or earlier to negate this other reality.
The terms seem to be used so flexibly by some and rigidly by others without real clear boundaries agreed upon, but I have always loved your style and I hope the more extreme/rigid adherents don't put you off sharing things as vintage, retro, or vintage inspired.
You have such beautiful vintage inspired clothes that I am always envious of the beautiful dresses, blouses, and cardigans you put together - let alone the jewellery! Don't get me started on that - you have such a good eye and it is all far too lovely! (Will quit my babbling for now, but i am so enjoying catching up on your videos!) 😍😘❤

Oh, Annie! You are such a gem. Thank you so much for your lovely, heartfelt words.
You and I are truly kindred spirits. ❤ My wardrobe hasn't changed much in the past 4 years. I've maybe purchased 5 pieces since then?
Last year I did a big wardrobe declutter and was a bit shocked to realize that most of my donation pile was made up of more recent purchases; hence I was left with pieces close to being defined as "vintage."
It's funny how sometimes you take part in something you simply see as a fun past adventure and end up learning so much in the process.
Taking part in the Vintage Fashion Challenge really taught me to be careful with the terms I use, if only so that anyone searching for content that is truly vintage doesn't get the wrong idea about where my content falls as there seems, or maybe I'm just realizing it, that there is a huge resurgence in popularity over "vintage" fashion/decor/etc.
