Factories like this absolutely astonish me. The amount of engineering, scientific inquiry, construction and testing, and ultimately precision blows my mind.
Ikr? Industrial stuff like this is so beautiful and inspiring to me. It really shows how smart humanity can be when we apply ourselves.
And the kids go and break them in half:/
Abbad Hoda sadly
Sad
Abbad Hoda The ones used in schools go through a much cheaper, faster process.
Moon Grains it just honestly depends. School packs can include cheap ones but students may buy expensive ones. The ones shown in the video are probably more expensive and fancy so I can see where you're coming from:)
Abbad Hoda
True true.
Who thought the sharpening process look so satisfying?

I think it's pretty cool for artists and writers to now know how the pencil they use is made. Thanks INSIDER!

Writing those repetetive sentences in elementary school would've been a breeze
Why did my dumb ass think there was a tree with lead in it...

Isn't this how it's made? Ya know the show we watched when we were bored or in science class as kids
Andrea Bushnell what show? bill nye?

Andrea Bushnell Lol I didn't
LegendDeTix 13 no, how it's made... duh
Whimsical Wonkalu yup... insider and sci basically the same company... they just uploaded their old shows on youtube now...
I guess this is just a ‘how it’s made’ reupload channel now.
Elevator Fart I guess you're just an idiot.
Elevator Fart
They're just promoting, they have permission.
descriptions exist.
I don’t give a damn if they’re promoted or have permission. If I wanted a how it’s made video I’d just look it up.
Elevator Fart so? Don't watch it then. Easy.
1:44 lead sandwich. yum
Anthony Cleary no its yummy
Pb sandwich
Eat them xD
It is graphite
Jia that comment is so underappriciated
Never knew making the pencil was so complex. Thanks for the video.
there's an essay called "I, Pencil" by Leonard E. Read that uses the pencil to explain just how complex manufacturing processes and supply chains are.
It's calming and satisfying to watch these
Thank you for this lesson!
Fascinating. Are all pencils two pieces of wood glued together?
I guess it's hard to tell, since it's the same block of wood, just cut and re-glued.
It's so sastifying since everything is so perfectly done
Is this pencil *_BONELESS?_*
"Making pencils is an intense process"
*Sees no humans doing actual labor.
Meh, I prefer pens
AJ Velez me too
Save the planet dude... Pls. Use pens...
AJ Velez *uploads how pens are made*
I prefer pencils, but then again I draw frequently for concept art in projects. much easier than having to get white-out or discard the entire page . . .
i prefer fountain pens
Got me wondering what is better for the environment, wooden pencil or clutch pen or lead holder? There's no waste with those when you need to sharpen. No wood wasted and the graphite can be collected and used. They are made of metal though so don't know if it's any better in the end. Just a thought.
oh wow
after watching this i will never throw away a pencil.....
Thank you for actually showing us how it is made! Not just stating the obvious.
the erasers being put on was sooo satisfying
can someone tell me what the uses of that white top part of the pencil?
or black top part on HB pencils?
PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWERS
I wonder if they sketched the machine out... haha get it
Lego Craft boi
Lego Craft That was a very edgy joke, I’ll point that out
Jtn Lee HA HA.
0:03 they grow up so fast 🤧😭
My 8 year old son asked me about how a pencil is made. I explained him the concept, but could still visualize a question mark on his face.
I showed him this video and could see all his doubts vanishing.
Thanks @Insider
this is a question i thought before in the past but never really searched it up for the answers.
but today a guy named riomations sended to his community this video on the youtube community post system, i watched a few of his videos in the past and after he randomly sended me this i finally know how pencils are made.
this is why you don't break your pencils, kids.
Do how a plumbus is made
Plumbus
Today on How They Do It : Plumbuses. Everyone has a plumbus in their home. First they take the dingle bop and they smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then...repurposed for later batches. They take the dingle bop and they push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, becasue the fleeb has all the fleeb juice. Then, a schlami shows up, and he rubs it...and spits on it. They cut the fleeb. There's several hizzards in the way. The blamfs rub against the chumbles, and the...plubis, and grumbo are shaved away. That leaves you with...a regular old plumbus.
MapleKii + yes thank you
maplekii that comment made my day
The sharpening presses is so cool
am i know about detail of thies manufacturing industry detail
This is rather *sketchy* because there really is no *point* of watching this video
It's nice to see someone out there is trying to get the lead out.
Your joke were *DULL*
Shut up not funny
please do how memes are made
man..
Can u help me beat my wife
I’m so glad youtube penciled this video into my feed!
i need that grinding drum for all those pencils i have that are broken or unsharpened
I haven't seen anyone use a regular pencil in forever.
Heck. When I was in school, 90% of the students uses mechanical pencils.
weird, so many comments about mechanical pencils, but here they were just a fad
n o t a n y m o r e
This is how IKEA gets the pencils
Good that they credited science channel and *How It's Made*
How much does it cost for the factory to make a single pencil? I need this info for a school assignment
*making pencils is an intense process*
I laughed so hard 😂
If you get stabbed with a pencil, 30 years later the graphite or lead back then will still be in your hand.
Ye, got stabbed three years ago by my friend, the leads still there
Can somebody tell me which paint is colored from outside?
2:28 so after coating in yellow, how does the black coating and the lettering was done? .... :3
I want that sharpener
i find this satisfying
Those black and yellow striped horizontaly penciles are the same ones I had at school
Lol The Pencil Origin Story.
Very intense

Insider your so calm i like it!
Wait it missing something how does it get the black lines
I always loved breaking a pencil when it’s rly rly small and seeing how it’s made
By the cuts and the holes and lead, it was pretty fun
Instead of paying attention in science class xD
Its satisfying but tons of trees cutting for just a pencil
BOYseptic EyE *Many pencils.
But i see your point.
BOYseptic EyE who h isn't even finished by the end it always gets lost
BOYseptic EyE safe our planet
Gita Batari Hermayanthi *save
Gita Batari Hermayanthi We can save our planet by replanting the tree we cut down.
How does the lead STAY ON THE DRUM as it rolls down to deposit the lead into the grooves.
It would appear that gravity would cause it to fall out before it reaches the grooved panels.
I love these series
They literally just took this off of science channel...
Yep insider is stupid
No, they have permission. It promotes How It's Made, and Insider gets views. Win-win.
+Rag. I rather doubt they have permission. Please provide a link or other evidence to support your claim.
Nobody cares
I have so much more respect for pencils now ✏️
You didn’t search for this, it just appeared in your feed and you are happy for that. :)
Watching this episode brings back memories
I thought they were making cheap pencils that have a plastic coating and not paint
Did anyone else just randomly think of this and had to look it up?
Woah, woah, woah! I saw the yellow paint going on. I didn’t see how the black paint goes on. Is it rollers? Sprayed? I need to know 😬
“Oh no! I’ve been DULLED!”
Love your videos
PCGames
This is actually an episode of "how its made"
no u dont
That is why I use mechanical pencils now :P
SlimeWays Because they are manufactured? Sorry to break it you but...
how much average time its take to make 1 pencil ??
Are the ferrules cut on a lathe?
I know bfdi Hi rio!
hahaha
Hey I got 2 of those Mars pencils...is that bad?
Although pencil making is a hard process it is so satisfying
I only use these to draw
Army-Once Ym What else would use them for? Cooking utensils? Airplane flight? Conquering the world?
It irritates me that narrator still thinks that pencils still have lead in them
But the narrator said that it was made of graphite near 1:12
Lmao Lmao true
You mean when he clearly states that the leads are made of graphite and clay?
They acknowledge it is graphite but we still call the graphite in pencils, lead because we like to confuse people
Anna-Karin Schultz lead just a name, a generalized term... if it bother you, maybe you should use 'graphite and clay mixture' instead...
how does the black colour get added??
This is somewhat satisfying to watch.
Dude dont copy how it's made
he's not copying and if he is, he got permission.
I think it's more like promoting, not copying
Falcon YT There is a thing called "Description"
Do you think they will just copy and upload it on youtube without their permission? *I* *D* *I* *O* *T*
falcon its not copying read the description you idiot
I've tried the pencils from the thumbnail. It's the shittiest pencil in the world.
Staedtlers are pretty good you know
I think my friend had one
It's a pet peeve of mine when there's no eraser cuz I can't erase my mistakes in my drawings
Lol
Lady Archibal ikr
They're professional grade pencils. Most artists use them because they have a high variety of shades, and I use them for pencil drawings and I have to say they're perfect.
What about the black paint? how does that happen?
I didn't search for this. And I'm not disappointed
They are cutting and wasting trees for pencils give a like if I am correct.
Who came here from riomations community post
Ye I did, I'm scared about the banner
Me too
@@donutgamer6505hello
I did
thank this help me a lot for my class project :D thanks a lot
What about the black stripes? Do they just appear?
Finally a fully satisfying video...
Interesting process!😁😁👏👏
Am I the only one who can't stop watching these?
What about the label like No.2?
Note that these have to be so precise one mishap and complete chaos
lol I'm just watching this for school. it's actually cool just thinking how many people were behind during the process
Sharpening with cutter make more smooth and beautiful than sanding.
Very informative!
Deeply satisfying
I’m surprised that the led didn’t break while being thrown around
Its not lead
I miss this guy.. I wish he still voiced the episodes.
now explain how they got the wood, paint, lacquer, brass ferule, eraser, graphite, and all the tools and machines required that were briefly featured in this video which gives us only a miniscule glimpse of the whole process
I'm on a deep dive on how to get the graphite into a tiny tube. I'm with you spacemonkey7951
