I absolutely loved listening to this wonderful and powerful story❣️
I love how it waa told in Irish, the beautiful language of my people, as well as English.
It is such a very clever story about being clever and also being brave. It is an easy story to remember to share orally as well.
This story resonated very deeply with me. We all have gifts, I have always believed that, and people just need to work out what their gift is. I have always known what my main gifts are, and why I am here and I do share mine.
Sharing your gift with others is what will bring you joy. We all have the power to do something positive in our world, from rescuing insects who accidently found themselves in our homes, to watering a plant who needs a drink, to helping others in need, or just making someone smile. There are so many things that we as individuals can do to make our world a much better place.
Take some quiet time for yourself to think, and you will be able to work out what special gifts or skills that you have.

Such an inspiring story, thank you so much for sharing it! I love the idea that we can each find our gifts and put them to good use and that no matter how small we are we can still make a difference 💚

And indeed we all share the same gift which is our ability to evoke Love and Light. All our wee "candles" make a Great Light that will Illuminate the darkness.
    Notwithstanding our individual gifts. 🕯️🙏🕯️

Oh, I love that! Lighting our wee candle feels doable, doesn't it? We don't have to blaze into a bonfire to help or illuminate the path. We just have to light up a little bit and that helps us and everyone around us. Thank you for this. So grateful for YOUR light!

Lovely visit and wisdom as always Kate -- and timely as well -- I've spent a good bit of time recently feeling despondent about the state of things and, fortunately, 'came back to myself' (is there a proverb in Irish for that?) As you said last week, I can choose to be a source of what I value no matter what others choose to do, probably even more important in these days. And I so agree with the value for what is small, dismissed, unrecognized -- I think that's actually where the true power is 💚💙💜

I love how you put that - "the small, dismissed, unrecognized... that's actually where the true power is." Eloquent and thank you! You are right in imagining that there is a great expression for just what you have experienced. There are many ways to express healing, but one of my favorites is "ag teacht ar ais chugat fein" - literally, "to come back to yourself." This is a movement of grace and wholeness, and to me, it often feels like actually taking up residence in my body and in my own mind and heart again. I do think we all dance in and out of this state all our lives. Like you, I sometimes look at the world and feel fear or despondency. My antidotes are always some version of: walk, make music, set something to rights (the dishes, even), play with ink and pens, and look for something to make me laugh or fill me with a feeling of cherishing. It's a great blessing to learn as we move through the years that we have the power to come back to ourselves. I'm so grateful for your comment and so grateful that you're here with us!

Thank you so much for putting these stories out there and being an inspiration. It's helpful as I work on a young adult novel that focuses on retelling both Irish myth and lore in a young adult novel that examines generational trauma in the Scottish and Irish diaspora. It is saving me at least a bit of research and reading time. I look forward to more of your content and teaching.

I'm absolutely delighted that what I'm sharing is helping you in your creative work: thank you with all my heart for telling me! I'm so glad you're here and can't wait to hear more about your novel as time goes by. I am not by any means an expert on questions of diaspora, but I will have a think about how I might be able to help on general ideas of "journey" and "leave-taking" and "home."
