I mean, I'm perfectly fine if they're doing this with 500$ gear and make a 50$ "clone" out of it. Or if they're recreating a vintage piece of gear. But a carbon copy in roughly the same price range as the original, that's... not so cool.

I agree, I'd like to see the engineers at Behringer let loose to design something they want to. I can only imagine what they'd come up with where they could make a product that is the first of its kind with other companies copying it
This damn thing is on sale now on Amazon for $27.96 (Dec. 13, 2022)! At that price, it's a no-brainer if you are in the market for this type of microphone.
Good review mostly. I'm guessing here but I think you are not very familiar with Behringer's history and product line. Not at all meant as an insult by the way. You nailed it on the head. Behringer has been doing exactly what you said, "Trolling?" for their entire existence. Sometimes to great results; the Composer Pro, and sometimes to bad results; ANY guitar amp they've ever made. Their entire business is trying to give us ham and eggers out here to have access to gear they'd never be able to afford otherwise. You reviewed this straight up an honest. That said, every microphone company on the planet has tried to copy the Shure SM-58 since 1966. Well done. (Maybe try to hide your clear disdain for Behringer a little next time:)
I got it for 32dls, to tell the truth I don't care if it's a copy, for the price paid I feel more than satisfied, more than I expected for 32dls. Great video, thx.
With this video I think I've watched more than 40 microphone videos so far. This is very addictive haha. The content quality here is top notch. I'd love to see a review of the mackie em-91cu (the usb one instead of the xlr). Another brand that is popular around here is Thomann with the tbone usb mics.
Thanks for a thorough and honest review. I understand your POV, but I happened across the Bigfoot gong for under $30. It just arrived, and in the traditional irrational consumer role, after getting it I looked up your review. I personally couldn't tell the difference n the comparisons you did and it does seem reasonably sturdy modulo the knobs. So I am glad I got it, clone or no clone.
The classic blue yeti and the Behringer both sound pretty good. The other mics sounded a bit more scooped or nasally and stuff. Kinda turned off by the loosey-goosey knobs on the Behringer.
i bought this 2 yrs ago at $25 new on amazon and for that it was a complete steal. for the price you got it at i completely agree with your review. mine is still going strong without any issues
Such an amazing, wholesome, all encompassing review, i think the Bigfoot is doing a fine job at rejecting plosives, not a good job at rejecting the keyboard noise also i observed it kinda did not sound as dead as it should have at 90 degrees on the cardioid mode, in the looks department its well, kinda ok. Out of the mics you compared it to, i think my favourites were the NT-USB mini & the original yeti, i personally would still get the mic its copying/ripping rather than this one, but again for the price, it can work for someone who is just starting out, again, i would prob choose an M-Track solo & an XM8500 for the quality that setup could offer. Great video as usual brother, love you!
Still sounds like the bunch of inexpensive SDC capsules that it no doubt is, but I must say I rather like it better than the classic Blue Yeti with its overly hyped top end, and it's similar to the NT-USB Mini overall. The low end is a bit thinned out as par for the course, reminds me of my t.bone SC140s but don't quote me on that, been a while since I used those. So a bit bland-sounding but I imagine some EQ would help it out. Noise levels seem just fine, too. I am rather assuming that Behringer do not actually make mics in-house but in fact contract them out to one of a handful of specialized OEMs, and one of them may have already had the mechanical design on the shelf for years. There is no way anyone starting from scratch would still be using a Mini-B connector these days.
2 things as well, I really don’t like how squishy the knobs look and I can 100% support not recommending a product because it brings down the overall integrity of the market.
It's just weird to me there is so little competition in the USB stereo mic market. I mean, ASMR is booming, not everbody's gonna spend 300 bucks on that 3Dio, I see a lucrative niche right there.
Guy, you're so entertaining! It's my favourite chanell on youtube. Luckily, friend of mine works as sound designer for big theatre, he looks pretty amused to hear my demo productions. But from all these craps he recommends Rode Mini as perfect traveling device. And for my mini desktop studio he rastled up old sm 58 and audix om2 with Yamaha AG06 mixer/interface and it works extremely well. The voice is going so smooth. more than I heard on othe mics. So as I recommend, forget all these USB crap and move on XLR phantom. It works so much in nicely way.
I love your vids and I wish you’d turn up the gain on the ‘1 feet away’ tests. I do online training and don’t want most of my face covered by mic so i need to be a little distance away but of course, I wouldn’t leave the gain down so low as you do in your tests. Cheers
Yet another awesome review, thanks. I think the Blue Yeti X does sound the best. Interestingly, I preferred the Nano over the Blue Yeti Classic and the Bigfoot, which I found comparable. I just thought the Nano had clearer highs than the Yeti Classic and the Bigfoot. The Yeti X I thought combined the clear highs of the Nano with an excellent tonal quality in the mids and lows that the other mics lacked. I'm ambivalent on the NT-USB. Something about the tonal quality was a little unappealing to me.

I configured it the exact same way as in this video - gain at 10 o’clock, plugged into a Mac Mini with the input level at 50%, mouth 3 inches from the front of the mic (the side with the Behringer logo), speaking at normal volume, pickup pattern set to cardioid, and boosted it 4dB in post. After 4dB boost, I’m still only getting a pathetic signal with -19.6 dB peaks. Something isn’t right. Even when he sets the mic on the desk away from his mouth to demonstrate the desk noise, and even when he does the demo in the untreated room with the mic away from his mouth, he is getting a better sound and signal-to-noise ratio than I do with the mic 3 inches from my mouth. Something is just not right.
