Ren made a personal Spotify playlist that's just under 2 hours of all of his favorites and I was extremely shocked that I listened through the entire thing without pausing or skipping a single song. It's so rare that you find an artist that just "gets" music the way that he does. He plays literally every instrument and also produces and mixes his own beats and music as well. He's a once in a generation Artist.
Ren was misdiagnosed for so many years and was told that his symptoms were psychological. He was put on many trials of medication, which just made him worse. His frustration with the medical/psychiatric community is totally understandable. Please explore this amazing artist's whole catalog! There are so many incredible songs to choose from! I'll be watching!! Thank you.
On top of that he did develop real psychosis for around 3 months as a result of the Lyme disease bacteria invading his brain. He did research himself and figured he might be infected by a bacteria and convinced his mum to take him to a private doctor and then convinced him to prescribe him extremely strong antibiotics. The doctor told him it wouldn’t help because his issues were psychological but he prescribed them anyway because he said it wouldn’t harm him. Long story short the antibiotics knocked the bacteria on the head and his psychosis went away. He literally had to figure it out himself and beg for the correct treatment. He didn’t know it was Lyme but he suspected infection and he was spot on. He’s such an insightful human being ❤

There is literally no end of gems to discover with Ren. I just found a track from 7 years ago 'dominoes' which is as good as anything else and hits so hard with such insight. The man is made of talent.

As someone with similar issues, but nowhere near the same level as Ren, the fact that he’s putting himself out there and has the energy to do this, is just insane. 10 knee surgeries in (trying to fix a doctor screwup on both knees in 2004) and I know everything I do will have a later cost. If I go to the store today, I probably won’t be able to walk the next day. Yet Ren’s been out hear doing his thing and really touching people’s lives, it’s inspirational and shows a strength of will that’s off the charts.
yeah it's insane. Are those VA doctors you encountered? Sorry to hear that you've been battling which knee issues for this long.

In the uk, lymes desease isnt recognised by most doctors as an actual illness and they try to give you different diagnosis, also they say a blood test will show it then youre told it doesnt, its a flippin nightmare
Oh man, that sounds like a nightmare 😓
One thing I keep in mind that Ren has said is that he wouldn't be making songs like he is without having gone through his personal hell for years. It's still painful to think about but from a spiritual perspective it has pushed him to become the artist he is and help so many people.

Deleted my earlier post as I felt I had more to say so here it is. I don't remember an artist that has brought me to tears before as much as I have since discovering Ren and his music only back in January this year. I'm diagnosed with Schizophrenia and psychosis and I have been on many dates together in the past, even though we're terribly matched. I think that Ren's music is relatable to so many people on one level or another because there's plenty who've been through or know someone who is or have been through the ringer in life. He voices what many of us sit with in silence and the community that has grown in recent months is a credit to Ren and to ourselves. Supportive, compassionate and human beings being real human beings. Something that's been lacking in more recent times. That's a wonderful thing and goes so much farther than an artist just making good music. He's making change. Ren and I share the same Birthday being the 29th which is pretty cool. Go the Rams! I get a new Ren song as a present so chuffed. Great react guys and looking forward to watching your week of the gem that is Ren. Much love and love much
Oh, yeah. Knowing his backstory and watching this is very moving. I can so relate. It is beautiful watching you get affected that way, and it just means you are very empathic! I actually don't mind that you are "just" watching. your subtle reactions do speak, and I appreciate that you wrap up the video by talking more about how you were feeling and what you are thinking!
I think it is important that we remember that the real reason we love Ren is how he has the ability to move us and help us understand more about ourselves, open up to be more vulnerable so we can have more meaningful connections with others. It is important that we remember that Ren is also human and not someone to come save the day, because that burden can be a lot on one person. He is blowing up this moment, and we who make reaction videos have the chance to always mention that we do know Ren is human, even with all his talent and the masses that he is just naturally reaching with his music!
Susan here. I am glad you have said this. I first new Ren as a fellow ME/CFS patient. His song Patience was used in the film Unrest that was produced by another ME/CFS patient Jen Brea. The film included the stories of other ME/CFS patients and footage of the #MillionsMissing protests where patients all over the world came out of the shadows to share their stories and raise awareness. It's wonderful to see Ren with energy being able to perform and that he is continuing to raise awareness about the many issues people with chronic illness experience. I think that is why he is letting people know that he has not found the answers he has been looking for in his latest song. He helps people because he is able to let us inside his mind which helps us feel less alone. I also think Ren is being a voice for the voiceless because he is able to share his own story so well.

Great reaction. Cheer yourself up with either Ren and the Big Push I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop or What You Want and then get into a flow with Genesis or Humble ft Eden Nash. Or............. In other words just play everything he and his collaborators have done. You won't miss.
While I got the story of Jenny and Screech, I don't find it hard to understand how it can be missed. There is a LOT going on, especially if you've got an appreciation of the various arts involved. The guitar playing, the acting, the environment, the cinematography, the singing, the lighting etc. If you focus on the "wrong" thing at the wrong time it's totally understandable how things can be missed. I've seen people chided for smiling through it, but in the end it was because of the immense appreciation of the artistry involved.

Yes all of Rens videos that we have been seeing are just as brilliant as the music. We don't get the story right like 80% of the time because there is so much to digest. We've gotten comments about smiling or laughing in our video of Jenny and Screech but that's what really catapulted us to deep dive into Ren and find out his story. I have been told for 10 years I have panic disorder, PTSD, general anxiety etc and given all kinds of meds but nothing has worked. The meds messed up my hormones and had so many side effects. Damaged my nervous system. Now I just learned a couple weeks ago I have a heart defect that I was born with that has been causing all my issues. And there’s a procedure they can do that will solve the problem.
No one ever checked for it and just always told me it was all psychological. I cannot explain the feelings I had after learning getting properly diagnosed. Anger. Relief. Hope. Feeling like I was gaslit for the last decade and like I didn’t understand my own body and that nothing would ever get better. And sad that I now have permanent issues because of incorrect treatments.
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry you had to go through all that. I’m sure that could very well easily create some of the things they were diagnosing you with (PTSD, anxiety). I’m really glad they finally found out what it was, but wish for your sake it was sooner. So frustrating that sometimes it’s just a guessing game, and often told it’s psychological when it’s not.
Ren is finally getting adequate tretment in Canada, and is showing a marked improvement.

Just to point a little thing: when you say that you would have quite if you were in his shoes, that is exactly what he meant when he sais at the end of Hi Ren '' I shout it out that I would defeat the force of evil'' He said to his mom that if things won't do better he would quit, at 17 yo! We know that things when so much worst... he ''just'' kept on fighting!

Your getting choked up thinking about rens misdiagnosis is completely normal, even if you don't know exactly what about it triggers your empathy. Your subconscious mind understands fhe pain associated with it. For those that are either unaware or simply have never thought about it, misdiagnosis in medicine is one of the most horrific and damaging events a person can live through. the whole time while being misdiagnosed you are continuing to suffer from the actual disease. The medical professionals attention is diverted away from it causing uou to go j untreated. Warning signs and symptoms.are dismissed or wrongly attributed causing you to miss potential signs of inpendjng doom. You are given the wrong medication and the side effects ts that carry. You are gaslight mentally into thinking its all in your head. Irreversible damage is often done. And then once you do find out about it now congratulations you have to start all the way back.ay square 1
This "misdiagnosis" is something that people suffering from M.E. know only too well. Nearly always being told that the symptoms you are suffering from, however serious, are all in your head and are just an "illness belief". Ren has taken down this song on all platforms because of legal issues he's having with a beatmaker, i'm no lawyer but if I were you guys, i'd make sure it's ok to have the video still, wouldnt wanna get a strike out of nowhere cuz of this... You can check his youtube he has a video about this.

You should definitely check out Ren and Sam Tompkins. Especially their original song, "Blind Eye" BUT NOT the official music video. It's not as good as the live version that you can find on a RUclips channel called "Music Crown" OR you can check out another live video of the same song but it's labeled, "Blind Eye Featuring the Angry Car Park Attendant lol it's funny ass hell as they keep signing while getting kicked out of the building.
Sam Tompkins has the highest falsetto voice I've ever heard on a man. Mariah Carey ain't got sh*t on Sam lol. He actually just opened up for Justin Bieber not that long ago, and while Bieber was up performing he had Sam come out and sing with him. So that's how you know Sam is on the way up.

You’re sweet but hey, you can’t say that if you were him you would’ve quit and died already. I had a therapist tell me that once, wanting to recognize my strength probably. But telling me that ”it’s amazing with your history that you’re still alive”… If it wasn’t my first rodeo with a therapist things might have ended very differently.
