They should do a 28 Hours Later and truly show the downfall of society.

My biggest issue with this movie's concept is the fact that we've already seen the rage virus pushes the infected to exert themselve so hard they die soon after so how the hell does it randomly manage to last 28 years? Realistically a large number of people would die off at the start until eventually the survivors all know how to hide/defend themselves and within a year all infected should be dead and that'd be the end of the virus,
I'd much rather see a 28 months later, and it'd still leave room for a 28 years later eventually anyways
You forget People are stupid
Glad you're feeling better, I got my tonsils out as a kid. No fun. I love this franchise I actually wrote a screenplay for a sequel, but obviously, anything Alex Garland writes will be much better! Thank you for covering this. I'm so excited to see what 28 years will be like

2 videos back to back is crazy bro is on that grind
danny boyle has said that the events of 28 weeks later are no longer canon! The new sequel will be completely new
Source? I haven’t seen a single piece of evidence that is true
We need a 28 prequel movie- showing the fall of humanity, how people are dealing with the initial outbreak, etc
They should have done 28 months later first so theres still chaos its just slightly less
They could also make it so the Virus mutated or getting a new variant or strain. Either on its own, due to research and experimentations in hopes to find a cure and/or both. Could be a major reason why it spread so bad and lasted long or restarted once again. Then due to said mutations, variants or strains the infected soon changed as well. Losing the visual cues thag differentiate them from the non-infected, making them smarter and capable of setting up traps, grouping up and sneaky, and maybe finding a way to make themselves last long as sustainance is introduced in their bodies so no more infected getting weaker or dying from starvation.
OMG, Finally... I have been anxiously waiting for this., Abso-bloody- fabulous...
Been waiting since i finished 28 weeks later!!! Best of the zombie genre
man they were almost there they shoulda waited 28 years later xD
They did 28 days then 28 weeks, I get being in writers hell, but in my opinion, it would make more sense to do 28 months then 28 years. Maybe just so we could maybe see bigger differences in how the rage virus evolved in the years. Plus, how does it make it to 28 years if the infected die if they don’t have enough food, surly in 20+ years most food sources would be depleted. Idk I’m talking out my butt right now
This makes me just wanna watch that Dawn of the Dead mall movie again.
At least the military use idea makes more "sense" here, because the infected die within weeks - unlike all the reasons that other things similar to the concept of "military applications" like dinosaurs, actual zombies, literal demons, etc are completely idiotic
Edit: **at least**
I love the music from those movies!
should we wait 10 years for it

Nah, not giving them my money after HD2

28 Months Later, set within the 2000’s would’ve been a far better idea than having it set 28 years later.
Seeing how much the world has changed and adapted sounds more interesting.
I think months is coming out one way or another. Maybe even hours which would be awesome. They might be sequels to 28YL.
Would be rough. Either couldn't use the same characters or they'd have to spend a buttload of money on that dual-camera de-aging tech. By time-skipping forward, they can skip explaining stuff like how TWD time-skipped forward to have Rick (attractive alpha male that had a hot wife) sleeping with Michonne (one of the ugliest female characters in the show that always looks like she smelled her own farts and sucked on a lemon at the same time).
@@tk-hf4oz That would be nice. Im hoping your statement becomes true in some way.
One way I thought of this working would be if 28YL is instead the "nth" pandemic of RV. This pandemic is the worst one and it is almost about to wipe out humanity. The story would then revolve around the people trying to survive in a world like that BUT no explanation on why this happened. Just snippets and we just focus on our MCs (sort of) stand-alone story. Then, we go to 28ML, a prequel that shines light on the 3RD pandemic. We reveal that this 3rd one will actually cause the domino effect that will continue to plague humanity for the next 3 decades or so. We might focus on the people that will likely start this pandemic. Either they are carriers doing the dumdum or normal people doin the dumdum. Either sounds good to me. We then reveal a secret of the virus (this secret can be made up for these new movies but it has to make sense somehow and not feel too cheesy). This secret has then to be mentioned in 28YL BUT only revealed during 28ML. We explore further on this secret that is the cause behind the carriers in 28HL and it explains why the virus is so persistent and aggresive allowing human bodies to last 28 days of no clear nutrition and no rest. In 28HL, we follow the scientists and medical personells that are on the case of Patient Zero for britain's demise in the first pandemic. And, that's it. I honestly do not know how to tie all of that together and how good this is but that's my proposal for it.
man ive been reading this comment 28 seconds in, now im thinking months in advance, years even.
Maybe it’ll be like WWZ, the book not the movie, about the survivors’ stories. Since the infected in this universe would starve to death.
maybe the virus mutated, which has happened. We see the same effect with covid which has now mutated again.
WWZ would be better if it was in tv series format than movie
Wwz is a great book and a shit movie
That would be a neat idea but I very much doubt Hollywood would ever make a movie like that.
They are too focused on gore porn and oh no it’s the end of the world endings

I can’t get over how they didn’t tell dude like, yo, don’t touch your wife, k? You’ll get infected. She’s clearly infected.
well, the 4 writers of the movie needed a Diabolus ex Machina moment to justify a conflict in the film
Besides people ARE stupid. I used to think the same way as you. With total logic but maaaan people inrl xD. We overestimate how logical they are
You should be asking why was there no security around a woman potentially holding the key to a vaccine for a virus devastating the world.
Also, if she survived dozens of infected biting her, why would her own husband suddenly be capable of killing her?
Basically, the movie is stupid af.
I think they did tell him to stay away from her and he didn't have access. That's why he somehow used his magic keycard to open the door. The fact she wasn't guarded at gun point is weird though. I also find it weird his keycard as a janitor allowed military access. I get he loved his wife and had to abandon her because she decided to go find the random kid instead of running. There was no way he would've survived trying to get to her. She was dumb and decided to run upstairs during dozens of infected breaking in through the doors, walls and windows.
Im sure they did he just "didnt care"
It should be 28 months later
Yes it should
That story was lost in development hell & the original cast has aged. I remember joking about "28 Years" at the time 28 Weeks was released, I can't believe it's all finally happening!
Yeah they really dropped the ball on that and I hate it but still looking forward to the next one.
@@PeterKnagge They could still potentially bring back Cillian Murphy. He is after all over 20 years older than he was in 28 Days Later.
Now that makes sense, 28 years later sounds ridiculous, but who knows only time will tell ( in 28 years probably)
As someone who has in military I can’t believe the husband had access like that and no one is standing guard outside her room
Hubris makes you blind and deaf...
Yup, that's the plot hole EVERYONE hates with a passion! The only thing about that movie that really grinds my gears.
@aspectnato8077 lol, I feel you Peter..
They tried their best to emphasise how much access he has to the entire building with him even jokingly saying "I own it"
So maybe he did have unlimited access who knows. Just theorising.
Exactly. Even if he was on access list for most of the compound, he shouldn't have been able to go in such a hazardous room alone.
It's Canon in my head that anytime WSG is filming in real life, for ads, or anything like the such, that it's Roanoke Gaming behind the camera.
LOL why though?
I was convinced they were the same person for ages!
Why isn't it 28 months later
Because it's not real.
They'll crowdfund and then pretend like there are disagreements while they'll go off wirh your money without ever bringing what they promised.
It happens way to often to not see it
My guess is that if they bring old characters back they want their aged looks to make sense and 28 months later would kinda make that difficult lol

I never forgot how the first time Jim got an explanation of what happened, at the beginning of the first movie, they tell him there were reports of infected in Paris and New York
Never referenced or acknowledged again, the second movie seems to pretend that wasn't even said
Those were fake
In the 28 weeks later comic, the MC arrives at the NYC airport and someone sneezes, causing an stampede as they think the man was infected
Yeah because in those countries police forces have been militarized since the mid-90s". In the United Kingdom police firearm policy varies by constituent countries. In Northern Ireland, all police officers carry firearms whereas in the rest of the United Kingdom, firearms are carried only by specially-trained firearms officers. Once the infected got through those guys, it's not the custodians' helmets, batons & whistle toading may of amicable public servants, as well-meaning they can be, that would run them down for sure.
The Sergeant who was taken out and shot before Jim escaped mentioned that mainland Britain was quarantined - indicating that the reports of Paris and New York were falsified; likely to prevent attempts at escaping after so long and the risk of the virus being leaked.
@@DinoRicky I see, I prefer this explanation over those outbreaks being contained
They lied to England so that they wouldn't know they had been quarantined. This gets explained when Jim and the British soldier who took their side get locked in the basement together.
When he's rambling he says something about "the rest of the world is continuing as normal" then tells him directly "they quarantined us"
"British discrimination, the world would not be the same."
Sounds normal to me.
It’s not surprising, look what happened to Asian and Russian discrimination.
First was because Covid 19 started in China and people blame the Chinese and other Asian nations (I think not sure.) for starting the virus.
Second was the Russian-Ukraine war. People don’t know is it’s not the normal citizens fault that there government invading another country.

I'm afraid that there are a few websites that you can find something like that...
I was thinking that was where he was going with that too... I'm just like "please don't"
Maybe 28 months later can just be a bridge to where we are now, a scene. You show a recap of the rage virus, cut to 28 months later and finally 28 years later as the movie finally begins.
The 28 months could be them studying the virus or something, then they put it away in some forgotten facility or and it remains there dormant for 28 years
Good point, that'll probably be the structure.
I think the worst scenario is that other animals could be passive carriers of the virus. Imagine the horror of a world with any dog, cat, rat or bat being a potential carrier, not even mentioning mosquitos.
Indeed! It's canon after all the original movie had the virus transmitted to human from an ape. And that ape was crazy with rage virus so what if it also makes every single animal on the earth infected.
A flock of birds on the horizon . .. .
A butterfly in your garden . . .
Even the tuna are deadly!
@@Flintlockon I think that makes more sense that only mammals could be carriers, just like rabies. Still a very bleak world to live on, a society that will develop a phobia from any other mammal, needing desperately to exterminate any cattle, feral populations of pigs or domestic pets. Having to isolate themselves in places free from rats, bats and mosquitos and violentely persecuting any human that reveals themselves to be passive carriers.
PS: Sorry my broken english Hahaha.
@@adansilveira2031 Birds can carry rabies asymptomatically. But they don't spread it either as a result. If a rabid animal bites a bird and it gets away, the bird now has rabies. You'd need a semi-symptomatic carrier immune to the lethal effects of rabies, but symptomatic enough for the virus to well up in the saliva glands, rather than it chilling in the blood. This is difficult as it implies brainward migration of the virus to reach those glands, but then for some reason not infecting the brain, or at least, not lethally infecting it.
If you took rabid bird blood and injected it into yourself, you would get rabies. The rage virus appears substantially more transmissible than ordinary rabies, it's not implausible that birds would be asymptomatic carriers capable of infecting others in that case.
how about smart zombies? don was different from the infected in the first movie. he stalked his kids throughout the whole film, knew how to open doors, took cover from the shooting, poison gas and bombings, and even used a weapon... so, since that he bit andy, and tammy touched him, maybe she rubbed her eyes or something which also infected her. but since the virus got passed between family members (two of which are carriers), maybe it mutated to stay dormant for a while, infecting many people who later became ticking time bombs, until they just suddenly turned and caused the outbreak in paris... maybe this newer strain made them keep most of their higher brain functions working, like memory, they could also eat now or don't puke blood anymore, or have a more stable heart rate while locked in constant rage and aggression
He was certainly unique in the setting. I believe maybe it has to be a certain gene? Like how the mom and the son were immune because of a certain gene? He used such good tactics like opening doors for the infected, running in the crowds of people as cover. He seemed to still love his kids. I think he was trying to infect them so they'd be like him. He obviously wasn't all there. Just seemed to retain certain aspects of his personality as well as problem solving skills. He was very strategic in how he was stalking the kids. I think he could've maybe had a higher sense of smell for tracking the kids across the city?
im so ready for 28 centuries later when zombies have evolved to be their own intelligent species and begin to expand to the stars
I got it,it could be 28 years later that someone in the lab tries to steal it and sell it and an accident happens and it gets released in the states or s carrier flys to America
Or it's been weaponized and realeased as an attack/terror or it is a new outbreak from another lab that is in a country even more populated and less isolated as Great Britain so it is like a massive rage wave sweeping across a continent following the roads to every city.
And it affects animals now too . . ..
@@Flintlockon raged rats and raged turtles and hamsters? That movie would be over in 20 minutes, all the animals would attack the humans in seconds
Personally, I like to think that the 28 Series is a dystopian alternate timeline to the Planet of the Apes Series. In one timeline we got smart apes and in another one, we got rage-infected humans. They both do experiments on monkeys/apes - it's a cool idea and a cool concept to think they're connected.
Yeah the initial premise of an ape virus lab experiment escaping is similiar

I imagine with the persecution of the carriers that would almost be guaranteed it'll likely be an attack of sorts whether accidental or not you can't discount the possibility that after years of persecution that one of the carriers might intentionally unleash the virus again.
Yeah constantly being harassed and bullied etc, wouldn't surprise me at all as tbh I think it's realistic

I hope not too. Though now I think about it, iirc, in 28 weeks doesn’t Robert Carlyle kill his wife after kissing her (and infecting him without knowing she was a carrier)?
Hopefully they don’t “forget” that detail when writing

I like the concept of the carriers in hiding, with infected mostly dead or too weak to be a real threat anymore, but carriers being hunted because of their potential starting another outbreak. The time jump allows for society to be at that point where it's let it's guard down thinking the worse is behind it, with it's focus now on rebuilding the old world leaving it open to a new outbreak.

I agree. It might be decimated, but they might not even be struggling that much by this point.
12:00 "The disease is derived from Rabies", this guy definitely doesn't know anything about 28 Days Later Comics.
Or biology in general. Rabies is a _Lyssavirus,_ it's not a damn Prion! Not even close.
Something that always stuck in the back of my head is they talk about the infected starving when in reality we'd only have to wait a week for them to become dehydrated
@CreativeUsername747 true but it takes you three days without water to die and they eventually are gonna begin dwindling from people fighting back and terrain hazards
I think we need to start with 28 months later, and then move to 28 years later. Jumping straight to 28 years is a bit absurd.
It has to be, Cillian Murphy is back, and he's way too old to believably be only two years older than the first time.
I'm excited for the idea of Jim, (Cillian Murphy) showing up even in a small part.
Yeah, dumb.
They showed that the infected don't eat and eventually starve, which takes a month on average.
Really, 28 yrs later would just be a post apocalypse movie with few people living in primitive conditions. Salvaging some stuff. Drama with the few others who are left. Boring stuff. 28 years is too long. Due to deprivation conditions the other ld would die and most alive would be young people.

I let it slide when he said they couldn’t make a vaccine because it was a variation of rabies. But then he stated it a second time and said rabies is untreatable! Both statements are false. We have a rabies vaccine, as any dog owner should hopefully know, and a treatment for rabies as well. I think he was thinking of Mad Cow disease or Kuru (from consuming human brains).
Big fucking mistake this... it should be 28 MONTHS LATER THEN 28 YEARS LATER.

how will they make it? easy peezy writing... it was quarantined to a vile of blood and lab leaked... again in a similar fate as part 1
Man,i hate to jinx it but this shit is gonna suck. Not only the curse of the third movie in a trilogy but also the fact that there ain't no way these mfs are gonna write a decent story with a 28 year time skip for an infection that can die out within a couple months.
I would prefer the new film to be called 28 Months Later rather than 28 Years Later, but the problem is that they took too long.
They confirmed a Sequel not the Title it could easily be a 28 seconds later movie
You sound just off, did you get a new mic or something?
(edit) nvm just saw the end of the video, get to feeling better
I hope they don't do the evil government or corporation trope. Boring I would pass on the movie.
If ended as pandemic did it spread to other countries? Or did only Europe get the virus.
I think they might try to go back to patient zero (even if it's just documents in the lab). On this new trilogy, "28 years later" might also be located in a post-apocalyptic world shaped from years of infection since the virus spread on a large continent. And finally, I think a movie on the beginning of the first infection can be interesting (like "28 seconds later") ...my ideas :)
Personally, I would have a type of bug (like cicadas) to have asymptomatically carried a strain of the virus for years in a secluded region of Britain. Diapausing undisturbed for multiple generation until someone would unfortunately come across one of the infected bug during an emergence and be infected with a slower variant of the rage virus misidentified as another disease starting another pandemic
It should be a continuous of 28 months later and the whole world and make it like a world war z where they have stories from all over the world, but im not a director im just a fan,
What about the virus mutates and creates something entirely new?
28 weeks later was just a poorly written movie. The father didn't act like a normal infected person. The kid obviously carried the rage virus to France and that's how the virus spread there. I'm assuming he's dead (he should've died at the hands of his father...hell his mother should've died in the farm house!)
I do have a lot of faith in Danny Boyle and look forward to seeing his movie! Probably the virus was dormant and resurfaced...perhaps a mutation of some sort? Should be fun to go back to this world for a bit.
I mean, we have seen for ourselves getting beaten to death outright by the berserkers is just as probable as being tainted by them. One of the things that prevents it from getting nearly as widespread as it otherwise would. That and the fact the incubation period is within a minute, and the infected themselves don't last very long since they don't eat.
There was a perfectly good reason encounters with them in the first movie were scarce. That and the fact they did not like brightness. The collapse of society and civilization, lack of infrastructure and so on is what it largely put emphasis on, with an odd attack from the mad people. Just the reclamation of nature that always happens when people go away, and how small groups and individuals make it in those circumstances.
What's going on with your voice though?
Unless they have evolved into actual zombies, it's hard to see how 28 years later, they would be an issue.
Should be interesting to see tro and how.
I mean if the little boy who’s a carrier, gets in a relationship and has his first kiss 28 years later couldn’t he start the virus back up ? I didn’t finish the last movie so idk if he lived or not 😂
Hold up, where’d you get that boomer plushie?
Wait, why would it be a "New Trilogy" when the first trilogy wasn't even finished?
New trilogy as in 3 movies are being planned ahead of time, instead of the first movie being a surprise smash shit leading to a sequel
What happened to your voice you sound different?
I watched 28 weeks later when I was like 11 and it scared me that much I never made it past the opening scene! I find it so intriguing now… but still scares the shit out of me😅😂
Maybee it mutates to not die and becomes classical Zombie Apocalipse
It's pronounced Ralph Fines
That moment in 28 years later when the infection jumps... It's going to be TRAGIC and HORRIFYING!
