    Thumbs up if you’ve played this game!
    (Bonus points if you played it in the 70s & early 80s.)
    I used to walk from school to a pizza place, about 3 miles away, to play after school ‘79-‘80.
    I remember asking older people for a quarter so I could call my mom for a ride home and using the quarters for the games.
    (Calls were a dime then so I don’t know how they didn’t bust me for fibbing!) 🤣

    I think of the show Pawn Stars, and you would see them send out things like this to be repaired and they would come back with what the price was but they never showed you what all they had to do and the price seemed high but when you look at how many hours you put in and how much skill it takes to be able to do the work you see the value for your money.

    I have really enjoyed when you have released decent length individual videos over several days of repairing a single machine.
    I understand why you can't use nudging and death saves, but I would like to see you use dead flipper bounce passes more. In fact I would like to see you talk more about basic pinball skills and table specific strategy during your playthrough videos. Pinball games can last much longer once you master a few basic skills and strategy.

    Such an awesome game! I'm of a mixed mind regarding the sound. On the one hand, part of me wishes they had programmed a wider variety of sounds. On the other, I feel nostalgia for the classic sounds. Maybe my ears have been spoiled by "modern" pinball games (e.g. Addams Family, FunHouse, etc.)

      @@LyonsArcade Using just one sound channel to boot, and still being recognizable, at least to those who knew their KISS. (At the time this came out, I would not have recognized the music. I didn't get into KISS until a few years later.) A fairly impressive accomplishment for 1979. Multi-channel music was still uncommon at the time. Because this is a video game channel, I'll use a video game from the same year as an example. _Galaxian_ had three sound channels, but two of those were just noise channels. It had only one pulse channel for music. Even most home computers just had an internal speaker (except for the Atari 400/800, which had 4-channel sound).

    I get it what was said in the video that the client hadn't asked for the playfield to be touched up color-wise. But it still bothered me to see the areas around the bonus multiplier lights left very worn like that. I mean after all, we know that you have Razzle Berry in your paint box!
    Also, it would have been nice to have seen the motherboard troubleshot before attempting a total replacement... Otherwise, a pretty good job.
    As for the game itself, the bonus feature is pretty cool. But other than that, not much imagination seems to have gotten into developing the playfield. This game is nice to own for its prettiness, but not quite so for gameplay.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  3 года назад +1

      Step back and look at what you just did. You watched the video, then made a laundry list of everything you didn't like about it, and posted it as a comment. You're spreading negativity and ignoring positive things that you enjoyed about it. You shouldn't do that, you're bringing people down by just bringing up what you don't like.

    • @citsmeh619
      @citsmeh619 3 года назад

      I've personally owned many of the games that you are restoring, so I do have knowledge and an opinion about them. I don't think my viewpoints would be any different in character than those you would see, for instance, on IPDB reviewing a pinball machine - in other words, the good and the bad.
      So don't take it personally. When you post on RUclips, you're placing yourself in the public realm and have to be able to withstand both praise and criticism (keeping in mind that that criticism may be about the pin and not you). I've seen you try to maul other commenters based on just the slightest negative aspect they may have presented, and by doing so you're taking the low road.
      That said, thank you for your videos and thorough content.

    • @pcachu
      @pcachu 3 года назад +3

      Those usually come from one of the periods when the US mint was trying to make dollar coins a thing. '79 was the same year they started minting (and pushing) the Susan B. Anthony dollar, and the middle slot would be tuned to accept those instead of quarters, typically giving you one bonus credit for your trouble (so 5 instead of the 4 you'd get by feeding in 4 quarters).

      It’s part of the old gambling laws. Basically in some states it was illegal to win a free game on pinball because you were gambling for a free game worth $.10 or whatever. There were laws in some states that you were not allowed to display how many credits were on the machine if you can believe that. So that light is the credit light, if it is lit up there is a credit on the machine.
