Finally!!! All other art videos ive seen only say “you need perspective” “perspective is one the most important” but never tell you what perspective is or how you use it
As a person with adhd and also forced themselves to learn a long time ago and trougled to learn perspective...WHY WAS IT SO MUCH EASIER IN 10 MINUTES THEN IN 7 YEARS???
Funny enough this is basic stuff, usualyl ppl learn it at school around 5-7th Grade. Now the probleam is how many ppl actaully want to learn this at that age... lol But yeah glad he made it, surprisingly enough there are many ppl who alredy finish school and are in to the Univercity and still don't know how to use this. So this helps immensely.
@@labulabi6854 Been a while I've seen a grammatic nazy playing down foreigners for their own amusement. but hey if you have time to waste in pointless comments I guess art isn't your passion... One of the very first things I learned as an artist while taking visual arts classes in the 8th grade... And one of my favorite ways to draw environments
Quick note: One point, two point and three point perspective don't actually have only one, two and three vanishing points. When you rotate the planes you need to start adding more vanishings points, for example if you have hills or boxes at different angles. The one/two/three actually tells you the number of axis which get projected. 1pp has 2 straights axes, 2pp has 1, 3pp has none.
@@crossed7971 It just means that you can have more vanishing points depending on which way your box is rotated in the picture you're drawing. For example with one point perspective, If you were to draw streets they would *all* be parrarel to each other. What if you want a road that crosses the other ones?? Well then you add another vanishing point, just for that one road that crosses the others. Still one point perspective. It's important to remember that the vanishing points help us convey 3D space onto a 2D paper, they are *not* real things that exist. Just how we see them in perspective. One point perspective: the lines of the box facing away get projected Two point: all horizontal lines of the box get projected in perspective three point: all sides get projected, now you can look look more up towards the sky or more down towards the ground too. in other words, now the vertical line gets projected too.

I just had my first lesson with a art teacher about perspective for one hour and this ten minute video explained perspective so much easier then my teacher did
I've always tried avoiding learning perspective but today I gave it a shot and came across your video. You made everything easy to understand and the activities were fun to do. thank you so much for this I'll be coming back to you in the future 🥳🥳🥳
30+ years ago I heard of a drawing aid which was a reducing glass with a grid etched on the surface. I have searched desperately for one with no luck. I think this is the ultimate freehand perspective tool. It would be possible to use a regular glass with an etched grid but the reducing glass has the added feature of pushing the image farther away. This has at least 3 benefits, first it makes for a smaller device easily held in one hand while still drawing, second it lets the artist draw indoor scenes and close objects as if everything is farther away then they actually are, and third it forces the artist to observe with one eye closed conceiving the composition as would a photographer using a camera's viewfinder.
Ok I wanna give my advice as a noobie - when you try to connect two lines following the vanishing points and it isn't working, try connecting it to a different one. When I tried drawing in 3 point perspective I always tried to connect a line to horizon vanishing point that should be connected to the vertical one and I finally figured it out.
I liked the video, however, there is a rule called 60 percent rule in two point perspective(it can be in other points perspective as well, but I am only sure about two point perspective). The two point perspective means that the two points you have in your horizon line, only 60% of them applies to the real world scale. For example=Your distance between two points is 6 cm, among the 6 cm, the real world scale applies till only 3.6 cm(60%of 6cm). So, you have to cut the remaining 2.4 cm evenly in both sides for a good composition and evenly cut the 2.4 cm in the vertical segment as well.

For someone who wants to take prep for architecture in college, lemme tell you, drawing without a ruler is freaking hard, I can't get enough practice no matter how much I do. Edit: wow... I forgot about this comment. So, I couldn't make it to architecture. I tried, but due to some unavoidable reason, I couldn't partake in the exam. I'm currently studying medicine, which I'm not loving. Peace out✌️

absolutely
I am not a beginner artist and even i learnt so much from this lecture/tutorial. You're the best Brad. Keep up the good work.
