Most apps for filmmaking won't have that as an option. You'd need to buy a Telephoto lens or play around with the distance between yourself and your subject.
why use beastcam over just recording via iPhone normally? whats the difference between recording in a app like this or just straight from iPhone? if ur making youtube videos
Just got the Smooth 5s and was looking for a good App and came across the Beast. As it looked similar to the Filmic Pro, decided to give it a punt. Now trying to get sorted and up to speed watching your excellent review. One of my first puzzles is the record button on the gimbal only alters the volume and at the moment the zoom wheel does not change the lens. Hopefully, it will all come out in the wash at some time. You'll need to use Zhiyun's own app (free) or use Filmic Pro for full compatibility. Beastcam can't be bluetooth connected to gimbals but it's still a good combination.

Such a great tutorial, thank you! I purchased Beastcam yesterday, but having a huge problem with the "screen layout". When I select "HD" (for example, or any other format) ..... the image on the screen is not 1920 x 1080 as it should be. It is "squashed", with black bars on both the top and bottom of the screen, and the audio monitor weirdly is tiny and placed horizontally, and over the image (instead of being located in a "black bar" as it should be. Bit difficult to explain without a screenshot, but hope you can understand. I wonder if someone can advise me what is wrong, and how to fix? I contacted "support", but no luck. All they told me to do was to go to Hardware and make sure AL1.33 and AL1.55 are both turned off, which they are. But they didn't offer any other suggestions. Hope to hear from someone about this, as at the moment it's totally unusable.
Thanks so much! Ah that is really strange! I imagine you’ve already tried uninstalling and then re-installing the app? Otherwise try reaching out to them on social media so there’s perhaps more sense of urgency to get the issue fixed from their side.

Another awesome banger of a video, my friend! Can BeastCam shoot in ProRes? I just installed it on my new iPhone 14 Pro and I cant find such a setting anywhere in the app. (i swear, i remember they were one of the first ones to implement it before the native app made it official)
I have the 14 Pro Max and I can shoot up to 4K 60fps ProRes. There might be a limitation that you need 256G+ storage for that option to work, since it records at about 6G per minute.
The one that allows you to use anamorphic lens, gimbal, remote control, focus pull, log profile, in fact the same than filmic but with another brand... does it exists? 🤔

You can use Anamorphic lenses BUT it won't be de-squeezed until after you stop recording.
There are no log modes in Beastcam.

Hi. 1.99 was the on sale price with the app’s regular price being 4.99. The sale has since finished I believe.

Sorry, but at 8:39, you just minimized the app, not closed it. If you close (the right "close" gesture), then the app settings go back to default.

Hi mate! Thanks! It can definitely shoot 4k pro res on iphone 13 but I imagine they have yet to implement that onto the iphone 14. Very strange!

That's strange. I'd try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app. That often helps with technical glitches like that. Otherwise I'd email Beastgrip.

This is exactly what I am exploring at the moment. I do think Filmic Pro is the best app but hopefully this is one close behind in terms of features.

I don't think so no. You'd still likely be left with the same sharpness.

Been giving beastgrip app try recently,
how do i get get the photos/videos to my pc.
I would use a Sandisk Flashdrive for that. Photos can be emailed to yourself depending on size too.

Protake works with some Zhiyun gimbals but I am not sure which ones. I presume the Zhiyun smooth series. Otherwise Filmic Pro does for sure.
protake connects with smooth 5 but it doesn't function even after connecting you are better of recording with native camera app.

I know the Cinema P3 and Protake have flat and/or Log profiles but unsure of others.
