    Will as of 5 -11 - 2022 2:26 am this method has been exactly what I will be going w/ and I did a fairly large amount of research 9ff & on starting over a year ago . Having a really hard time growing my 2nd favorite plant has never made a lot of sense since I do see my others growing in every setup and most healthy and adding several new baby plants regularly . This last exception is my favorite and it is Hygrophila Pinnatifida . That one is getting better for me but still I just can't keep it from dying , Anubias I keep it alive w/ no death , consistent new root growth some yellow leaves I remove b but the growth is just not there ? I have a seriously large amount w/ tons of tiny baby plants I find very often so if you might think of me trying something else I will buy the Hydrton ? tomorrow and rewatch this video again and look forward to hearing from you and I will let you know in couple months !! Thanks again Will
    PS. The whole idea for researching on this was seeing Juris setup for keeping extra plants that he was planning to use in future builds & for his maintenance of customers aquariums , really got me to see the potential well before I heard the " plants for profit " because @ that time.... I just started my plant addictions , not a bad thing but looking forward to growing plants I will be ordering from you very soon 💙💚

    A quick question, have you tried growing outdoors? I have a large undercover outdoor area & love spending time out here amongst my garden. Would love to start growing out here. Btw I’m on east coast of Australia. Doesn’t get too cold ❤️🇦🇺

    Curious, in a lot of previous set ups you said only 4 hours as anubias is a low light plant and you had algae issues with any longer. Why go from 4 to 12? You also used to spray with a fert solution, but i'm assuming not anymore with this setup. Also assuming the ratio of 2tsp to a gallon of water has remained the same? I know I'll probably have to do my own experimenting, but just wondering why these changes as I plan to start a buce and anubias farm.

      Thanks for watching! You wouldn’t want to use hydroponic fertilizers in an aquarium with livestock.
      No harm in growing plants this way then using said plants in your fish tanks though. Actually most commercially grown aquarium plants are grown hydroponically with similar ferts (look up Tropica or Dennerle for example). 👍

    hi I'm a big fan of your channel. just one question. if the warer constantly staying on the leaves, would that cause algae?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 года назад +4

      Thanks for following along! There is no water on the leaves in this setup other than from natural condensation and transpiration so no algae issues with this one. I don’t foliar spray in this setup either. A few of the many reasons I like it 👍

  • @Hipkip7

    Wouldn’t a pump/riverine system improve the circulation of the fertilizer in the water? I have read that without water flow the fertilizer doesn’t get distributed well.

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 года назад +4

      I thought the same thing too but this system has performed as well as my previous riverine system and is more simple. So alas, I prefer this system. I figured this out because I had lowered the water level and turned off the pump to reduce algae for a few weeks and there was no reduction in growth. No harm in adding a pump though if you feel it will help. 👍
      Ps, I think part of why you can get away with low circulation in an Anubias setup is due to the fact that Anubias is naturally a slow grower and doesn’t require lots of nutrients to grow. If you had higher nutrient demand plants then circulation would become far more important.

    Hi brother ... i am a regular watcher of your videos ... i searched your channel and other channels too ... but i can't find any proper method or steps to move a Anubias from Submerged to Emerged condition ... it will be great if you make a tutorial on this ... Basically i just want to know if i can just take a Submerged Anubias plant and keep it in Emerged condition or there are any steps involved ... ???

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching. You can from submersed to emersed easily. Just make sure to keep humidity as high as possible (use a lid), and make sure the plant has plenty of water to take in through its roots. Spraying with water periodically at first will also be beneficial. You should be able to drop submersed brown plants in a setup like with with no issue. 👍

    and what would be the optimal humidity level you keep in the tank?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 года назад

      As high as possible. I can’t give you a specific value but I have a lid on the system and all visible gaps closed up. There is always condensation all over the glass. That’s what you want 👍

    In your opinion what’s stopping this setup yielding the biggest/bigger plants?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 года назад +5

      Good question. In my opinion this mostly has to do with the nutrient solution. This setup will have less dissolved gases in the water than other more complicated setups (even with the airstone), also given that the solution is only replaced on a ~ monthly basis, the Ph and nutrient balance can begin to fall out of balance through time. Both of those things can reduce nutrient uptake. But in my experience the added work of constantly monitoring and adjusting the nutrient solution and incorporating a higher flow/gaseous system with more pumps and additional air stones is not worth the extra effort and maintenance for the relatively small increase in growth. Hence why I like this system. But I am a simple guy who likes simple approaches to everything and I have a lot of plants to take care at my farm so simple is better for me 👍 🌱

    You've mentioned that anubias doesn't feed through the roots before and only through the leafes..
    So I'm a little confused with this set up?

    • @AquariumPlantLab

      Close, I’ve mentioned that they can feed BOTH through their leaves and through their roots. Most people don’t know that plants can feed through their leaves too so I try to make it a thing to mention that. 👍

    Where are you getting your pots & substrate? Also, any recommended modifications for the smaller varities of anubias like pinto, bonsai & mini?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 года назад +2

      I get my pots on Amazon, I just search for 2 inch by 2 inch square pots. While I’ve also bought hydroton on Amazon I typically buy that at my local Ace hardware. As to your second question. I havent grown those particular varieties but I am growing nana petite. The only difference is that I plant that variety more dense. You could plant 2-3 of those per pot. Other than that I just follow the same setup and procedure.

    Distilled or de chlorinated water?

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  Год назад

      I would go with dechlorinated in most situations. Distilled water is stripped of a lot of minerals.
