Hey, so I’ve seen a lot of comments about Gacha characters skin tones or race recently. It’s definitely a very important topic to be discussed with various issues such as representation and equality being prominent. That said, there is 100% a time and a place to be having that discussion and it’s not here. Yes, we should be valuing representation and encouraging it whenever we can, but we also have to keep in mind that we’re more than something that runs skin deep. Right here and now this video is placing the creative, imaginative, and inventive parts of human nature on display to be marveled at and wondered over and the discussions and comments we have and make should reflect that. All that being said. The video was absolutely lovely and innovative and I greatly enjoyed watching it. Thank you for all the hard work and effort that was put into making it so wonderful to enjoy.

In response to manyyy comments about the characters skin color: By the definitions of racism, white people have always been the dominant racial group. They have always benefited from the oppression of POC. A lot of white people have prejudice against POC as well. That's literally the history of racism, white people discriminating against POC. Racism by terms of skin color has always been about black people, that's how it began. Now, other races and ethnicities are included but discrimination of skin color only exists because of white people, therefore they cannot experience it. If you're talking about conditions in society, sure, anyone can. But POC are the only sufferers of racism due to skin. "Blackwashing" isn't a thing. Nationality ≠ Race. The characters do have canon nationalities, "Mondstadt", "Liyue", etc. And those are based on real places but this is a fictional game. There is very limited representation of POC in the media so when you whitewash one of the only darker characters, the limited representation is taken away. There is always going to be representation for light skinned characters. Most forms of media are centered around white people. There is very limited media centered around POC, which is why personal representation is good. Of course, I understand that changing the color of any character can be controversial. But people wouldn't be uncomfortable by it if POC were already shown in the media. They wouldn't view it as "wrong" if the rep was already there. Which is why it's not wrong to make a character darker based on headcanon. Representation is being added and that is a very good thing. It's okay to think that it's wrong, because that's always what has been taught. Change happens very slow and the ideals of racism have been impeded into society for a very long time

I personaly feel weird about the skin color changes, partly because it feel its wrong to change the skincolor of character, no matter what the sttarting or end point is. (Though in some cases its ok, for excample, the live action attack on titan movie changes the race of all the characters to japanies, but it works because the setting is changed from germany based shinugaua to a post appocoliptic japan, or namor in the new black panther movie, as they didn't use attlantice, probably because of aquaman, and made there own underwater kingdome that came from the yucatan, so having namor being mexican rather then of a more asian decent makes sense.) But honestly thats a secondary concern for me, I just don't think venti's and deluc's designs work with a darker skin tone (mainly diluc, who's allread dark outfit then just blends with his skin. I honestly don't mind razor all that much because the design works better and I always liked the razor - cyno cibling theroy).

I honestly feel bad tbh for you with the gacha design things. Yes, race is very important to gacha designs too. But, you also gotta kinda understand that a lot of games don't have much POC representation and when it does, it's very off-putting and doesn't truly represent them, right? Genshin is a huge thing with that, and that upsets me a bit. Because realizing the characters that are darker skinned are from Sumeru mainly in the desert part so that's kinda off-putting and upsetting. I am not excusing such things. Hey, so I’ve seen a lot of comments about Gacha characters skin tones or race recently. It’s definitely a very important topic to be discussed with various issues such as representation and equality being prominent. That said, there is 100% a time and a place to be having that discussion and it’s not here. Yes, we should be valuing representation and encouraging it whenever we can, but we also have to keep in mind that we’re more than something that runs skin deep. Right here and now this video is placing the creative, imaginative, and inventive parts of human nature on display to be marveled at and wondered over and the discussions and comments we have and make should reflect that.
All that being said. The video was absolutely lovely and innovative and I greatly enjoyed watching it. Thank you for all the hard work and effort that was put into making it so wonderful to enjoy.

In response to manyyy comments about the characters skin color:
By the definitions of racism, white people have always been the dominant racial group. They have always benefited from the oppression of POC. A lot of white people have prejudice against POC as well. That's literally the history of racism, white people discriminating against POC. Racism by terms of skin color has always been about black people, that's how it began.
Now, other races and ethnicities are included but discrimination of skin color only exists because of white people, therefore they cannot experience it. If you're talking about conditions in society, sure, anyone can. But POC are the only sufferers of racism due to skin.
"Blackwashing" isn't a thing. Nationality ≠ Race. The characters do have canon nationalities, "Mondstadt", "Liyue", etc. And those are based on real places but this is a fictional game.
There is very limited representation of POC in the media so when you whitewash one of the only darker characters, the limited representation is taken away. There is always going to be representation for light skinned characters. Most forms of media are centered around white people. There is very limited media centered around POC, which is why personal representation is good.
Of course, I understand that changing the color of any character can be controversial. But people wouldn't be uncomfortable by it if POC were already shown in the media. They wouldn't view it as "wrong" if the rep was already there. Which is why it's not wrong to make a character darker based on headcanon. Representation is being added and that is a very good thing.
It's okay to think that it's wrong, because that's always what has been taught. Change happens very slow and the ideals of racism have been impeded into society for a very long time
Don't bully a creator for adding good, non-stereotypical representation in a severely lacking game.

I personaly feel weird about the skin color changes, partly because it feel its wrong to change the skincolor of character, no matter what the sttarting or end point is. (Though in some cases its ok, for excample, the live action attack on titan movie changes the race of all the characters to japanies, but it works because the setting is changed from germany based shinugaua to a post appocoliptic japan, or namor in the new black panther movie, as they didn't use attlantice, probably because of aquaman, and made there own underwater kingdome that came from the yucatan, so having namor being mexican rather then of a more asian decent makes sense.) But honestly thats a secondary concern for me, I just don't think venti's and deluc's designs work with a darker skin tone (mainly diluc, who's allread dark outfit then just blends with his skin. I honestly don't mind razor all that much because the design works better and I always liked the razor - cyno cibling theroy).

I honestly feel bad tbh for you with the gacha design things. Yes, race is very important to gacha designs too. But, you also gotta kinda understand that a lot of games don't have much POC representation and when it does, it's very off-putting and doesn't truly represent them, right? Genshin is a huge thing with that, and that upsets me a bit. Because realizing the characters that are darker skinned are from Sumeru mainly in the desert part so that's kinda off-putting and upsetting. I am not excusing such things. But, like it isn't just the creator's fault, yk!! More or less just Genshin's fault for making most of the skins paper white with no shade range... 😭
