I remember reading an interview with Rihanna and she said she wanted to make a foundation that was just like the Luminous silk but for oily skin. So it's kind of funny that you said it reminds you of the Giorgio Armani luminous silk!

Hey Lily, I usually do not comment and rather am one of your "silent viewers". However, when I saw your comment about the FB matchstick, I was like "gosh, I totally had the same reaction in the first place !". and here I am loving my matchstick in Latte!
After trying it with a sponge and applying it to the face directly + blending with fingers and brushes, I was pretty disappointed and did not get the hype to be honest... Using the real techniques STIPPLING brush (swipe the brush over the stick, first stipple it on the face and then blend it in circular motions - it works wonders!) did convert me. And now this little stick product sneaked its way into my daily makeup routine and seems to be my new fav "brontour" stick I use EVERY day. I didn't even notice that I don't use others anymore for quite a while :D
I really hope that you find you a method to apply it and get to love it as well, Lily.

Hi Lily, just a little heads up - i think the cutaways don't really do the actual colours of the lipsticks justice, the Fenty beauty one looked like a red for me, the place you're filming might be a bit dark. xx
I think one of the things that I’ve found works with the Match Stix with shimmer in them is to take it with the finger from the stick (I dab on the top of the stick a few times) before applying to the face. The formula is like you said more of a matte finish so, apart from the contour the others need some warming up, especially because it’s colder now.

I'm not one for haul videos but I really enjoyed watching this. You take the time to explain why you bought it, what makes it special and why it should be part of your wardrobe/collection.
Sometimes i find that cream formulas are different on the skin depending on the weather. Cream blushers, concealers, highlighters seem harder to work with in the winter as opposed to summer. This might not be true for everyone, just something I have to keep in mind myself! Maybe give the Fenty products another go later this year? Hope this helps! x

If you swipe the blush matchstick on your hand with some primer the. Use a stippling brush it works well x

Some Fenty tips: Use a highlight brush that's a little more dense with the Killawat Highlighter-I have Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal and it's one of my faves! If you use a super sparse brush it really doesn't do it justice. The real techniques setting brush works well!
The match-stix work so much better with a sponge, but the shimmer shades need to be warmed up a bit with fingers. I usually pat it on then blend with a sponge

I hated the Killawatt highlighter when I first got it because I though it was too glittery and it didn't blend into my skin very well. I then started using it more and I noticed it was just the first layer in the pan that was glittery and once I'd brushed the glittery layer off, it started to blend in beautifully and melt into my skin to give me a really beautiful glow. Now I'm obsessed with it! I have the same one you do and I use it with the ABH highlighter brush.
Lily Shop I use my ABH highlighter brush with mine to! Applies the product perfectly, plenty of pigment and not hard to apply at all, i might have to look at this colour though, i have fire crystal x
you got hate because you said that the name fenty beauty sounded stupid... not because you're not a fan of rihanna. you obviously had preconceived notions about the brand based on who started it. not everything has to be "hate," people were trying to explain it to you.

It's super moisturising and not sticky and looks stunning on.
I wasn't interested in the brand either but I saw the gloss, bought in on a whim and now I use it every single day, and that's saying a lot as I'm a lipstick kind of girl and usually don't get on with glosses.

I watched your blog too and I've been meaning to comment on the Fenty stuff you bought to try and help out. I will say the foundation isn't recommended for dryer skin types on account of how drying it is. Dry skin types can still wear it, they just need to make sure they're well hydrated or it'll show every bit of texture imaginable. The Smashbox Primerizer is perfect for that!! Also, the highlighter is best used in my opinion, with a dense and soft brush like the Sephora Collection Contour brush or Morphe 510. It's not a long lasting highlight compared to some others but they're amazing. I think you got a shimmerstick too and those are best used with the fingertips. I'd say warm it up with your ring finger then press it onto the skin and blend it out. Hopefully this is all really helpful, I love your blog and channel Lily!

I love both the Killawat Highlighter and the Match Stix. I find that both of those products work the best with dense synthetic brushes. I use a ColourPop highlighter brush for the Killawat Highlighter and a small buffing brush for the Match Stix. You can also blend the Match Stix with a damp beauty blender.
For a glowy look with the Fenti foundation use Smashbox Primerizer under it! Gorgeous glow and doesn’t feel as dry. Another hot tip; dab on not with a stick but with your finger! Rub a generous amount around and tap on with fingers. Also so surprised you didn’t get the red liquid lipstick or the gloss bomb!! So beautiful on every skin tone and amazing to wear.

Ronja I’ll try! But I think I’ll get hate for damaging my curly/dry hair. I usually just spray on some heat protector, let it dry naturally and then just straighten it! Nothing out of the ordinary really
Isn't it quite wasteful to buy so many travel sizes of a product you use up and use all the time? I used to just pump some of my oskia cleansing gel in to a small pot to take away with me
Glad you were so honest about the Fenty products. Hard to get reviews that are. You honestly are amazing about stating your own opinions.
Oribe is fantastic. Hair trick: wash with warm water. Apply conditioner starting at two inches away from scalp. Rinse with cold water (as cool as you can tolerate). This technique insures you are not causing a build up on your scalp and eliminates the residue of conditioner on the ends. Lastly it allows the hair shaft to close. Then when you apply styling product it can do it’s job.
Major tip for stiff cream sticks:: I always run my brush over the cream stick then dust/ apply onto the cheeks. This way the color is evenly distributed and you dun have to buff so hard - cos when you apply the stick directly onto your skin the pigment somehow sticks in that spot making it harder to blend out. This trick makes me take out all the cream sticks that I have been hoarding and using them so much more now!
Hi Lily the Daniel Sandler Watercolour blush is gorgeous, just a tiny drop on your hand and apply with the RT stippling brush! I do the same with the Glossier cloud paint they are quite similar.

A good ol’ haul! Fabulous! I thought the foundation shade looked good! Have you tried an SLS free toothpaste? It might be worth a try to avoid the dry lips.
For the fenty matchstix, the best way to apply is to take a brush to the stick itself. Don't put too much on and apply gently to the face. Applying directly to the face puts way too much on in one spot.
Otherwise for the kilowatt highlighter I have no tips cause i don't use them.

For the matchstix I warm them on the back of my hand first or even very slightly with my hairdryer and they're much easier to apply. And I use a synthetic brush the Real Techniques 300 brush (the copper one) and it picks up the highlighter well and applies it well. I'm still struggling to apply the foundation fast enough - I need to psyche myself up to go faster than I normally do haha x
You look amazing! The illuminator and the mascara were both gorgeous on you! I'm not a traditional highlight girl in the current sense but I've used it under and over my foundations for years! Love that there are so many coming out! Now if only the Max Factor UK would bring back the whipped shimmering beige! For the cream blush, I have one that I apply a small amount with my finger and then blend with a damp sponge/beauty blender. Works a treat!
Try apply the fenty blush to the back of your hand, and then use your fingertips to apply it to your cheek. It'll warm down the product and make it easier to blend

Hi lily, I managed to go into Harvey nichols to shop the fenty beauty range and the lady on the counter said to warm up the sticks e.g concealer or blush with your fingers. So rub the product between your fingers then onto your face. Hope it works xx

It's so silly you would get hate for sharing your opinion. I'm not a fan of Rihanna either and am not interested in trying her range. However, that doesn't mean I hate her and I get why she has a huge fan base and a makeup line. But she's just not my style!

fenty really has changed the game in turns of shade range but i agree not all the products are for everyone especially the foundation I only like using dewy products and the match sticks didn't do it for me but her underlying message really helped change the makeup industry for the better.
Is the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer the same colour as the bronze and glow palette? I love that. Seems a waste to buy a £50 bronze and blush you don’t like the blush colour of! I’m curious about the English Beauty lipstick now, I love Pillow Talk and Very Victoria, shame you couldn’t have swatched the lipstick with Pillow Talk. That shampoo is the best, I buy the giant bottle when I see it on offer on Feel Unique.

For the Fenty I watched the brand’s makeup artist do tutorials. The stix work best when you warm them up on the top of your hands. And of course her brushes are meant to work best with her product.
I remember you were being a litlte obnoxious about the name Fenty being strange and making fun of the name which is actually her real name. It came across really rude and it rubbed me the wrong way that you think it's okay to poke fun at an ethnic name without knowing its context.
She didn't know it was her real name. I don't believe anyone who isn't a big fan of Rihanna knew it was her real name since she just goes by her first name. I thought it was a strange name for a brand too until I learned where it came from.

Literally had no idea it was her name. If you watch my videos regularly I’m sure you’d know that I would never purposely make fun of someone’s name. I merely thought it was strange to name your brand something that sounded like Fendi. It was completely taken out of context.

If you’re using the sticks from FentyBeauty i would say try swirling the product with a brush that’s what Claire Marshall did or even warm the product at the back of your hand
Totally fun haul! I wish Charlotte Tilbury was in more stores in the US, when I went to Seattle I bought tons because I could have my foundation matched and look at the lip colors etc more. Harder to buy online. thanks for sharing!

You should try using a fan brush for the Fenty highlighter & might be easier to just use your fingers to blend out the Fenty blush hope this helps!
For a cheaper option u need to try head and shoulders menthol fresh shampoo. I have the same problem with my scalp and it’s great plus cheap x
Try using the Match Stix on a brush first and then applying it to your face, thats what worked best for me/ for both the contour colour and blush....
I also think the Match Stix work better with a different foundation, something that isn't as dry as the Pro Filtr' foundation!!!!!

You need to use your finger to put on the matchstix, so it warms it up. Also with the foundation apply a bit of oil on your skin first and it makes it a little glowier, but don’t recommend doting it on your face as it does dry quickly
I don't have any of those products, but I am going to give the FreshFace Luminizer and Smashbox Primerizer a go!
Love the style of this video with the new transitions! I have to say I didn't enjoy the flickering of the product names though, I kept thinking my eyes were going funny! The Fenty foundation looks lovely on you, I'd kinda dismissed it too but I might look into it now
Apply the blush stick on your fingers then warm them up and apply to cheeks.
Claire Marshall from Hey Claire used the contour matchstick from Fenty Beauty on her cheeks by using her fingers and just patting it in her skin... She also said something about warming the product with your fingers too like similar comments here :)

If you want a moisturizing primer, the By Terry Densiliss primer is amazing. I’m not crazy about her other one though. Space NK will give you a sample to try. It is not at all silicone like. It is also a treatment. It is super expensive, so try first. Your foundation will apply beautifully on top of it. I don’t like the By Terry concealer you tried btw, and find it balls up over my eye cream.
I may have to try that foundation. Looks beautiful and natural on you.

I am loving Estée Lauder new water based foundation, wonder what you think of it... lovely smooth finish and v light on skin.
With the stick blush...try getting the product on a duo fibre brush and then applying it to your face, should defuse it better xx
Maybe the Match Stix needs to be warmed slightly. If it's cold in your bedroom that might explain why the product drags the skin/is too hard to apply! x
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the Fenty beauty line. I just purchased a few of the new lipsticks to try out.
Great to see a make up haul from you!! I like knowing your opinion about products I have (Fenty foundation for example) and seeing that I agree with you. You should try the Fenty Precision Makeup Sponge, for me is the best sponge, better than the Beauty Blender and the ones from Real Techniques xx
The make up artists from Fenty Beauty suggest to heat up the match stick before using it, with a light or something, that way it's easier to apply! Great video!
Thanks for the video Lily love your honest reviews they're always so informative. I'm loving cream products right now as its Summer here in Australia. I've had my eye on this palette for a couple of months I love their cream lip2cheek blushes so I decided to get it.. the RMS Beauty Signature Set in Pop Collection. I love it ! I can do it without a brush or sponge so quickly with a swipe of a finger tip. People say oh there's no mirror but I do my make up in the bathroom or use the mirror in my car lol so I never need one in a palette ! I also love its more natural.
If you have an issue with rising out conditioner like I do give leave in conditioner a try. It is a game changer for me at least.
Lily, for the matchsticks you should take the product directly on the brush and not just from the stick to your face. I hope that makes sense and helps you out

I've used Yacht Lyfe with my fingers and its brilliant. Mind you, it's 40c here in Sydney, so maybe it's easier when its warmed up a bit? I love it!
