I always like going to the far side of this level where you can see the shadows of gol and mia citadel, something about that visual with this track gives me chills.
I absolutely love this area when it gets dark and you see the horizon. Jak And Daxter is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. What a disgrace that there are no more games like that. One of those that are only done once.
Did you know that if you look closely in the background from one of the ice floors (the path to the Lurker-infested cave) you can see Gol and Maia's citadel with the surrounding dark eco silos in the distance?
There's hints of what future Jak soundtracks would sound like. The subtle whistle synth that sounds like wind is in multiple Jak II tracks as well (like Haven Forest). Love when things carry over like that.
You know, this cutscene was SO rare to spawn for me even to this day, so i'm curious if even Boomer has ever gotten it. it's that one cutscene where if you don't have enough precursor orbs to pay for one of their 4 power cells, Willard will be hiding from Gordy, and tell you about one of his secret hiding places in the snowy mountains behind some trees, prompting you to do the yellow eco vent mission.
I got this cutscene countless times because of my idiocy as a kid. I only ever completed Jak 1 when I was like 13 (Got the game when I was 4) because I could not find the yellow eco button...
The jak and dater soundtrack is a masterpiece and brings me an overwhelming wave of nostalgia for of the first games I ever owned and my favorite ps2 era series.
I've always loved this song since the first time I heard it. Usually when you imagine a snow level in video games the idea for the music is a very happy go lucky tune with sleigh bells and holiday cheer, not this song though. It perfectly encapsulates the more sinister reputation snow has, the idea of being isolated in the middle of a harsh blizzard, it's really fitting for the amazing setting. Kind of a nightmare to play through though lol, but it also happened to be one of the only levels I actually got 100% in so that's something.
We lost time in the day and night cycle, it sped up a lot more than usual with its rate, and it will get progressively faster. Game Developers can't make these games anymore.
A recent platformer that is incredible gameplay-wise and mood-wise I would strongly recommend is Pseudoregalia. Its been more then half a year since I played (and finished) that game but it still pop up in my head.
I used to not know how to do the roll jump as a kid so I'd just come up to the mountain, spend like 10 minutes trying to jump across the gap then give up and vibe on top of the shield thing staring off into the landscape below the mountains and listening to the music lol

Well it’s the fact that your basically half way there, and the end of the game was like another 3 hours after the snow mountain.
Haha, a pun
Damn I did the exact same thing, I was trying to search for a video where someone does that just for the ambiance and found this. Crazy

Lurker: Huh... wait, I'm gonna step back a bit, I don't want these big snowy boulders to crush me.
The dude on the xylophone killin' it!
It’s all one guy on a computer, most likely lol
Those shakey shakey christmas bells complete the song.

Ohhh I could hear this theme for hours!!
My favorite track
Why are there no games like these anymore??
Because there is fortnite now 😎
Because you grew up and that sense of adventure/discovery/astonishment is now gone.
@@Jowurel That's probably it. Only the Souls games come close to those feelings these days.

Older games have such unique music. Unreal.
I have to use just one word to describe it, perfection
Best level in the game 👌
I’m gonna play this music every time I go out to a snowy place to listen how magical it sound
I can't believe I actually found this song it's been years
Those ice lurkers were troublesome, but the icey outcrop to the left of the fort was a real heart stopping portion.
Thanks for uploading this, I did a cover of the song & literally transcribed it all from this vid!
