    Lol. The art itself is primarily based on eastern philosophy just like Tai chi is. These are just drills and exercises. The entire concept of wing chun is much deeper and applicable in many aspects of life.

    I like some of these techniques, and some of these drills are good for building hand-eye coordination. However, most of this will not apply in real street combat situations. Skilled fighters have too much hand speed and use feints to set up strikes, so depending on blocking will get you knocked out. The one hand behind the back stuff with the head in the center line and chin up in the air surely will.

    • @Justin-fx9xu
      @Justin-fx9xu 5 лет назад

      I agree with you. I studied WC many years ago and was thinking about going back. Most of the instructors just train with other WC students. So its vertical punches, chi sau, etc, etc. The guys in this video are very good but to be honest in a slow motion demo I could even do this. When those punches are coming at a high rate, unexpected, etc, its a whole different story. This is why if you ever watch a MMA match or real match its too dudes with their hands up, not this flashy stuff. Not saying its not effective and a nice art, just incomplete. If your considering doing this art, make sure your school or teacher does lots of sparring as well, not just chi sau.

      You're saying Yip Man like you know lineage. That's Bruce's philosophy. Do you know how many families and styles to WC there are? WC has footwork to fight a boxer, trust me. Boxing isnt bad to know, that's what I learned first, but WC and other forms of Kung Fu, will put you ahead of the rest.

    People dont understand that the way hes doing these blocks is from a drill. Training the body to react when certain strikes are coming. It's not a literal translation. Just like hitting pads, or using a speed bag. And hes showing how to block and counterpunch at the same time.
    I will say however, the hooks the other guy was throwing were a bit wide and low.

    • @JesseLD3
      @JesseLD3 5 лет назад

      On the streets, dudes not throwing perfect hooks everytime. A hook is usually how it starts, trying to get the cheap shot but you shouldn't be too concerned with that. Like you said, it's about seeing the punch coming, you just adjust what you do during that situation

    Impressive speed and skill but one thing about real combat opponents will be constantly moving and changing distance, two guys aren't going to stand there the whole time staying static. Good though for close range and you could overwhelm him with a fast combination.

      Because the way you train is the way you fight is all I am saying.

    • @punisher7772

      I actually consider Wing Chun an excellent fighting system but it seems very few practitioners are able to apply what they know effectively in a real fight.
