Got to take a ride on one of these between Ali Al Saleem, Kuwait, to Baghdad, Iraq. It was sure a lot nicer than the C-130.

Very important to properly secure the payload and maintain center of balance.
That crash video from Afghanistan (I think it was) where the cargo load shifted and caused the plane to crash was horrifying. Flying with heavy cargo is definitely a delicate balance!

Something is wrong here. The C-17 its not the biggest transport plane in the U.S. Military.
Its the C -5 Galaxy almost double the size of the C-17 Globemaster.
Ohh I love travel in the C-17's when you traveling to a really cold place and you in the middle of the fligth inside tose machines get really and i mean it REALLY COLD taking abount minus 0 temperatures and you and your battlebuddies in a hurdle like football teams with their quaterbacks rigth under the 4 inch heater duct. Just like the ones in your dryer machines in your houses you see 4 hurdles in every corner of the C-17 trying to get a little warm. Good old memories..

Fun fact=== C-5 Galaxy is 5" ¡nches longer than the Wrigths brothers first fligth.....
1:00 is KC-135 not C-17. C-17 has a joystick not traditional yoke. Cmon now I don't believe nothing in your video, not even 😒 footage.

I bet it would cost at least $100,000 to fill it up with fuel, I think it holds like 28,000 gallonls of jet fuel.
@@jakemeoff0387 I don't think they measure by the gallon, I think it's by the ton, imagine pulling up to the full service fuel pump, saying, "clean my windshields , and give me 30 tons of jet fuel". Ha-ha... Yeah you would have to be a Billi,
As in Billionaire!! But hey one can dream! Heck just park it and tie it down, and you could have swimming pools under the wings, use them as diving boards! Maybe solar panels on top, with rgb LEDs under the wings shinning into the pools, the cockpit would make a awesome bedroom!what a view!you could even have a garage!! Crazy, and silly I know, but it would be awesomer than a tree house when you are 12!!... Good day..
@@jamest.5001 I realize it's a while since you posted this, but aircraft fuels are discussed in pounds. Depending on the C-17 variant (Most should be ER by now) you're looking at around 180,000 and 240,000 pounds of fuel when filled up.

I was just going to say...The C-17 has a Flight stick like a fighter not a conventional flight yoke like an airliner...Not to mention all those old style gauges that are not present in the 17...

@The Daily Aviation: Perhaps the next time you make a video about an airplane, you can show footage of an actual cockpit of the airplane you are featuring. That was not a C-17 cockpit during the landing and take off segments. Anyone care to guess the actual type shown?

Instrumentation is all incorrect as well.
That was not a c-17 cockpit. C-17 has a glass cockpit and joysticks , not analog or yoke for steering, wrong seats also. But I love watching that airplane

Figuring out the correct tie-down and how the positioning of big heavy stuff affects the balance (center of gravity) of the plane is where the Loadmaster earns his keep. Load restraint is a multiple of the weight in the various directions (forward, up, aft and side to side. Floor provides down, but there, you have to know allowable floor PSI loading and shore the floor if needed. Palletized loads are secured into the rail system, but vehicle restraint is real different for a tank vs a Jeep. (Old Loadmaster)

I worked on the C-17 program in Long Beach CA. till the end. We should be still building them. The C5 should be mothballed. It is not a user-friendly aircraft. It cost way to much to fly and you need a full ground crew to receive it and fly. Boeing should not have it's name on the C-17, it's a McDonnell Douglas plane built by McDonnell Douglas employees.

The distribution of weights inside the plane needs engineers to do it and they are helped by the ground force of the cargo plane
Loadmasters, not Engineers.
I don't know where you got your numbers but an M1 weighs 70 tons, not 60. 140,000 pounds is the load plan weight.

Because they put the cockpit of another plane on the video if you see the accelerator levers worn, the windows do not match, the control panel is only analog when the C-17 is digital and also does not have the Head-up display system (HUD)??? Place the real cockpit of the plane... Thank you.

No C-17s have yokes. All - including foreign models - use sticks and glass cockpits.
