  • Surprised we got this to work. I had been thinking about such a design since the ocean world to make a sub ocean rocket silo. But that got me thinking the same design could work under magma in theory. So here we are, though we still need a way to deal with the fallout that will be generated on launch and landing.

      Yes, I just did that. I identified four phases of the silo operation, and used one bit each to signal when the phase starts. The door controlling mechanisms then listen for the phases they are interested in. It's a service bus based on the publish-subscribe pattern. Works well. 😁

    This may be the most insane thing I've ever seen you build. I love it so much. Also, you could just let the niobium from the volcano pour into an area below the door pumps and transfer heat via bunker tiles instead of the insulated tiles you have there currently. Also, the rocket exhaust should(?) heat up that area decently as well and provide a heat boost to the magma every time the rocket is activated. Might be the easiest solution.

    • @mrShift_0044
      @mrShift_0044 3 года назад +2

      rocket exaust is COOLER than the magma and will drag temperature DOWN with each landing

    • @nyktunr
      @nyktunr 3 года назад +1

      @@mrShift_0044 That's only if the exhaust is touching the magma. If the exhaust is contained inside the silo, the 3x9 area of effect of the rocket will heat up the magma below, not cool it down. So as long as those top doors (and bottom doors) are closed when the rocket lands, the rocket will only add heat to the tiles below the rocket, not cool it down.

  • @tetrikitty1686
    @tetrikitty1686 3 года назад +1

    I'm pretty sure that door on the left edge of the four doors right under the rocket platform and that door above the magma compression zone deleted some magma, since one side of the door is completely surrounded by other tiles so half the magma has nowhere to go. The door under the rocket platform probably won't be submerged in magma again, but the one above the magma compression zone definitely will be, and it'll keep silently deleting magma over time if you let it.

  • @seanhunter111
    @seanhunter111 3 года назад

    This is awesome. To remove the gasses fast I would highly recommend using a liquid-gas bypass pump. They pump large amounts of gas very fast until the pressure gets low. You would then use a conventional pump to pump the final bit.

    •  3 года назад

      How does that work?

    • @seanhunter111
      @seanhunter111 3 года назад

      You can search on the Klei forums for Mathmanican's original post on it, but essentially imagine you have 2 chambers with an 1-tile L-shaped gap joining them. If you put a small amount (say 500g) of a liquid in the apex of the gap that would make a liquid lock. Now if you drip a small amount of another liquid onto this liquid lock, the game wants that liquid to move down and to the side. In doing so, it displaces the gas in that tile, which moves past the liquid lock up and diagonally across. This can be used to pump gas very fast and without using power. The game actually deletes the drip liquid if the amount is very small, making this very convenient in some situations.

    Wouldn't it be an actually helpful use of the 3x9 rocket launch heat column to reheat your magma? As in, you don't immediately shove it out to the side, but instead wait until the rocket launches to do so, to recover the lost heat.
    Also, as that is a niobium volcano, whatever you end up deciding for the statue, I feel it's only right that it should be made out of that niobium.

    I’m thinking a statue of anakin skywalker would be fitting on a lava planet. Or darth Vader.
