before watching this I had never seen anyone pass the part with the jet bikes, I assumed it was deliberately impossible, but now I see what lays beyond, after all these years, 25 years ago, a quarter of a century ago
I was also around 10 years old and I really enjoyed playing the stages before the jet bike. I got past the jet bike part once in about 100 tries , I still remember shouting at my mum saying I done it haha. Man the memories.
OMG!! I can remember me and my brother renting this game every weekend and never getting past the second level. After watching you beat that level I think to myself we never had a chance. The way the obstacles just appear out of nowhere just sheer craziness.
Bluebehelit, I commend you for an amazing BT game run. The furthest I got in this game without cheats was the beginning of the last level. It's still hard to this day. If it's one thing I remember BT for (besides crazy difficulty)....were those AWESOME punching sounds. They get good bass when you bust out the ram horns!
never made it past the 3rd level. Once the brick walls start flying, I said forget it. I never owned a NES and this game definately was not one to make me want one. I had a Sega Master system, there weren't a whole lot of beatemUps for it, but When I saw how hard BattleToads was and weighed out how much fun I was having, and figured out I'll go play a more fun, Just as hard game somewhere else. Glad this video is up so I can see all the fun I missed LOL
No kidding, this game was frustratingly unforgiving in so many spots. Yet as annoying as parts were, you could avoid that damage like this guy does. I miss games of this caliber of quality and difficulty, stuff these days just doesn't have the same sense of danger like this one does. Some come close, with quality, but the difficulty as in this game is unmatched. Great playthrough, worthy of the highest praise.
You rock. I couldn't get past the ice stage when I was small (The stage after the snakes). I now feel like a complete and total n00b. I didn't even know this game had warps o_O
This is an all-time classic, my brother and I completed this in co-op (no warps). the water level and the last set of bikes level were the hardest in the game to beat.
That game sure brings back memories, though I ended up using game genie to help beat the game (I've made it to the Clinger Wingers level without cheating though). It sure gets difficult, especially in the later levels like the Terra Tubes, Volkmire Inferno (though I usually skip that stage) and even the Rat Race level (especially the during third leg of the level).
I love how from an outsider's context, from the perspective of someone who's never played the game, it looks so super easy. I've owned the game since the Christmas after it came out (91? 92?) and I still can't beat the damned thing without using the Game Genie to skip me to level 12. I can't beat the jets, I've only beaten the footrace twice in my life and I couldn't figure out the Clinger Winger if you put a gun to my head. Screw you, Rare and Tradewest.
I wear the fact that I beat this game at least 2-3 times like a damn gold badge of honor....or shame. depending on how you want to look at the phenomenal amount of time it took to do.
Man I love this game! I never got to beat it when I was a kid. I was like around 16 when I finaly beat. Totally loved the sound track, surffing kinda style. One of the best NES games in my opinion. I remember I had a trick for extra lives. Play it as 2 player and kill the the other one for points. I think that if you pres Down+B+Start you begin the level with 5 lives. I never liked the warp zones. I beat it going through all the levels. It was HARD AS HELL!!!
Alright, this is by far the hardest game ever created. I have NEVER made it past goddamn level 3 because I was always playing with a buddy. Try beating it with someone else and I GUARANTEE it to be IMPOSSIBLE. It's never been done this game made me curse for my first time ever when I was a kid haha. Good job bro this is nuts!
The blue ramp floating in the air was the worst. And then the goddam rats who drop the obstacles...holy shit. Ant then the flashing exclamation mark! Sweet Jesus this was a tough game.
Even without the so-called "blast processing," the NES was still able to pull off the speedy effects required for the bike stage. That's pushing the system to its limits for sure!
I remember the good old days when I'd go into town to the video rental store and pick up an NES game for $5 and keep it for a week. This is one of the best rentals I made. Along with American Gladiators, Final Fantasy, the Mega Man series... *sigh* I wish I could go back at times.
This is a great game for NES. My brother & I beat this game when we were little. We tried to beat the game with two player but it wasn't possible. We made it to the Clinger-Winger level but when the toads mount the bike it won't let the second player move, you'll just sit there & it'll run you over. Some glitch. I really wish it worked cause that would have been awesome to try & finish it together.
I remember beathing this game, god this game was so fun....i somehow still remember on how all the levels worked and everything....if only they brought this game back on like the playstation network
before watching this I had never seen anyone pass the part with the jet bikes, I assumed it was deliberately impossible, but now I see what lays beyond, after all these years, 25 years ago, a quarter of a century ago
Now we have the emulators.
yeah, I remember playing this game as a little kid, I never got past the jet bike part. It was freakin impossible to do.
Have you seen the space fight in [Battletoads & Double Dragon]? THAT is impossible lol
lol no but I am going to look at it now :)
I was also around 10 years old and I really enjoyed playing the stages before the jet bike. I got past the jet bike part once in about 100 tries , I still remember shouting at my mum saying I done it haha. Man the memories.

You mean the turbo tunnel right? ....It's the 3rd level
Lmao!
This game makes Dark Souls feel easy, cos damn i cried playing this it was so hard and frustration... ahh good times.
Lmao u cried! I feel your pain
Lmao you pain! I feel your cries
I cried WATCHING this!
8-bit musical masterpiece

The racing part was the most amazing part. It made me hold my breath every single time!
a very impressive display of skill, timing, steady nerves, and uncanny hand-eye coordination!
This game was a few years of my childhood. So fun. Love it!
I always considered this the hardest game ever made. This is just impressive to me.
My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw this and I suddenly remembered this from childhood. Love this game!
Even just watching the ski level makes me anxious.
the 2 player mode on this game was made for trolling
This soundtrack man

I bet not many people can even finish Battletoads, especially this good. Sweet gameplay !!!!!!!!!
Damn near seizure inducing nostalgia. The best kind of seizure. Lol
Video games were so simple and enjoyable when I was a kid. This was my all time favorite game and I never got past the third level.
how did I suddenly remember this game?
best retro music iv ever heard on a retro game
This was epically difficult and you made it look like child's play! *bows to you*
No kidding, this game was frustratingly unforgiving in so many spots.

O YEA BATTLETOADS YEA!!!!!!!! the jetski level tormented my childhood
Haha, after 20+ years, I still can't get by the jet-bike level. I know how you feel. This is one of the many reasons why I love this game.
Such a f**king hard game, but such great music on certain levels! :D
LOVED this game, best one I'ever played on the NES
It was my favourite game in this years : ) thanks for sharing
We need a sequel to this game more than anything else in the universe.
You rock. I couldn't get past the ice stage when I was small (The stage after the snakes). I now feel like a complete and total n00b. I didn't even know this game had warps o_O
So does Gamestop have it?
***** Burn
Hope so
Yes, call them
I've come close to beating level 3 but never did, cool to see the rest of the game though. Thanks!
This is an all-time classic, my brother and I completed this in co-op (no warps). the water level and the last set of bikes level were the hardest in the game to beat.

i love the sound quality. good post my friend.

Mad props to you...great run! Now, I know I never made it that far...the running snake thing reminds me of a similar stage on a Mario game. :O )
On of the best games on the NES and one of the hardest!
I wear the fact that I beat this game at least 2-3 times like a damn gold badge of honor....or shame. depending on how you want to look at the phenomenal amount of time it took to do.
So you say...
That race was hard as hell as I remember..makes me wanna try it now;]
OMG you did the speed bikes and made it seem easy =O i failed so many times there lol very nice
(cursing) speed bikes! That part wiped me out every time, what the hell were they thinking when they came up with that level!!!
man, thats crazy. i see why this is one of the hardest games.
it's like you're making up for all of the pain we've had to go through playing this game
Man I love this game! I never got to beat it when I was a kid. I was like around 16 when I finaly beat.

omg when i was 6-8 i play this game 24/7 its was my favorite game.. :) omg good 20 years ago now.... sweet memories :)))
This game has more innovation singlehandedly than every game COMBINED in the past 5 YEARS!
This vid just brings back bad memories. We used to try and try to beat the game but never were successful, although we were 8 years old.
I remember this game its amazing how graphics have changed.
Kudos are in order...love this game,..a lot of fun just to battle at the first level. Tough tough game to beat!
Cool, I remember this game. I played this a lot. Don't know for sure if I ever manged to play it through. Probably not :D
This game was so epic. In every way possible.
This game looks awesome, love the soundtrack
id like to be able to buy a NES just for this
one of my most favourite games of all time, me and my cousin used to try to beat it but never could, still was awsome though
I just can't believe how many hours of practice you must have had to get this good, as this is easily one of the hardest video games EVER!
These games have such amazing music
I see other people are here from the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop prank. That was freakin hilarious.
And this game looks pretty cool.
I remember this game as nerve-wrecking but addicting as hell.
The part on the bike... never got past that myself...
Alright, this is by far the hardest game ever created. I have NEVER made it past goddamn level 3 because I was always playing with a buddy. The blue ramp floating in the air was the worst. And then the goddam rats who drop the obstacles...holy shit. Ant then the flashing exclamation mark! Sweet Jesus this was a tough game.
Wow I remember playing this back in 1991! I'm getting old!
man that toad kicked the FUCK out of those things lol
Even without the so-called "blast processing," the NES was still able to pull off the speedy effects required for the bike stage. That's pushing the system to its limits for sure!
I don't even know what I'm watching right now but it was beautiful.. Probably also because i"m really high
man ive never played this game but u make it look really easy haha i must scout for it!
The blue ramp floating in the air was the worst. And then the goddam rats who drop the obstacles...holy shit.
i actually completed this game long time ago after spending my entire youth on it. Snake humping still chases me in my nightmares.
i just saw almost 10 mins of awesomeness
I remember the good old days when I'd go into town to the video rental store and pick up an NES game for $5 and keep it for a week. This is one of the best rentals I made. Along with American Gladiators, Final Fantasy, the Mega Man series... *sigh* I wish I could go back at times.
Kick. Ass. Soundtrack! Gotta find a way to play this now.
I love the soundtrack for this game
That Chasm was a Pain !!
That speeder run was some sick shit.
Very nice remember! This game it's so hard and this player make it so easy ^^
BEST INTRO MUSIC EVER
YOU ARE A GOD OF BATTLETOADS!!!!
the hover bike stages were allways hard but the music was fricken awesome
This game wasn't just a challenge... it was a rite of passage.
lovely that you left the full intro
Yeah agreed.. Nostalgia when I hear it ^^
wow, i remember this intro and totally thought i've never seen battletoads before
one of the hardest games ever, i remember me sweating on this1 back in the days :))
I played this game many years as a kid and even a bit as an adult. I never knew about those damn warps.
I remember playing this game and giving up at the chasm, once the walls start coming too fast I couldn't get past it.
boss cheesing in the corner is the best :)
This was a fun freaking game! This game would keep me busy for hours when NES was the shit!!
That's a serious ass speed run!
battletoads level 3, where real gaming legends are made
Battletoads in 2016 LETS GOOOOOOOO!
do u know how serious this game was back then. wow
This is a great game for NES. My brother & I beat this game when we were little. We tried to beat the game with two player but it wasn't possible. The Turbo Tunnel, every young kids worst nightmare!
This game is like the Adventures of Bayou Billy. Everytime you beat a level the Dark Queen taughts and laughs at you, like the other game.
That intro music is bad ass.
ah, this game brings back memories.
i had to cheat my ass off to beat this games a million lives couldnt help me i have to give you props
hmmm it will be incredible to see a speedrun with 2 players

One of the best and the hardest NES game ever
