but how do these Multimac change the V5 of the car and thus also the insurance situation? I like the concept but want to ensure it is legal and not cause more issues - including crash safety. I read the multimac FAQ on this but clearly the onus is on the user to contact their insurance first and check they would approve this. I wonder if the law or police need to somehow approve it as technically the vehicle is holding more passengers than the V5 allows for.
Ben, no car project can be done without actual tools! This is going to be epic so use this against a small part of the new tool set. Come on DadCar fans, let's buy Ben a tool set!
If possible, take the rear seats out and have a Multimac made on the seat mounting points. It would give you so much more space. I can't help but notice that they are kicking the back of the front seats. If you're upgrading the audio, you could consider adding screens to the roof or front seats. Ideally you have a controller screen upfront. Finally, as dad of two, I really appreciate your channel and I love Italian cars so would gladly watch the series on the Maserati.
Helping to keep it. Love Porsches myself, but backseats are terrible when kids get a bit older. Was looking at a GR Yaris, but the boot is too small for me. Plus the low roof line means, I'll have to sell it when my son gets into his teens. I prefer to keep something long. Please do a series on budget interesting cars, but practical, e.g. Vauxhall Insignia OPC, Astra OPC Caravan, Ford Mondeo ST220, V70R. Time for parents is limited. Your review saves time on what to get / helps narrow things down.
Amazing… I have done a bit similar work to my Porsche Panamera… guess not as much as you will need to as it already had the three seats, But anyway… We took it for a Europe tour and to Scotland… which was amazing. Best thing I have done were: 1. adding a small tv screen to the roof so my three kids can watch same show together with no fighting. It was one of those that I can do mirror screen from my phone or iPad so can have full control from front. 2. Added baby camera so I can watch the kids when I am out of the car running to get food or petrol or when one of the kids need the bathroom and the other two were a sleep. 3. 4g wifi router of course 4. Folding tables 5. Small fridge in central console 6. Night light for the kids I can control from front of car. All the best
This is going to be so much inspiration for a lot of Petrolhead Parents out there on what they can do to their own cars. Once the modification bug bites you can’t stop tinkering! Just don’t go as mad as I do lol, I don’t want you spitting out any tea when you start adding up the receipts 😂🤣😂
😂😂😂👏👏👏 yeah I’ve never really done any modifications of the cars I own so this will be a lot of fun! Just hope people want to see it and I can keep the car at the end 🙏 thanks Albert!
@ if modify before fix works for the Autoalex Multiverse then I’m sure there will be a bunch of us who will want to come along for the journey to see how you build your dream car up to the ultimate Dad spec 👌
@dadcars You're welcome Ben. I think there's a company out there that may have a over the front seat type of tray table that unfolds for the kids in the back.
Ben, what a great idea for a series! I am absolutely hooked. I've got a 2011 GranTurismo 4.7S, which I use for the school run....this however is a whole new level. I hope you get to keep it, looking forward to future vids!
I love the series already. I only have the 1 child but im already looking at things to keep the 4 year old entertained in the back of my mk1 golf clipper. So if the channel hits new heights then like others a tow bar would be useful. However think bigger, what attaches to the tow bar. Now i might be crazy but imagine a front end damaged maserati that could be chopped and turned into a storage/camping trailer. That would be epic. Good luck with this one
Putting cars aside for one moment, you are clearly a GREAT Dad. Your girls are always really engaged when you have them in your videos and they're always enthusiastic with their ideas. It's lovely to see. Keep the content coming and doing great at your most important work, which is bringing up your kids.
Looking forward to this! My upgrade suggestion, replace the headliner with some sort of storage net. You can never have too much storage in a family car.
Good luck with it, Ben it's great that Multimac are helping. As part of this series it would be good for you to do an episode with them to explain their product and how they're developing it for the Maser. Agree with others that telly's in the back would help with keeping them entertained on longer drives, but a cheaper option would probably be to get a sleave for iPads that can fit over the headrests. Not sure you'll get them trimmed in matching leather with blue piping though!
As a man with no kids yet who likes the inside of his car to be clean the shot of your RR post Scotland gave me a minot heart attack. Thinking whether or not I really want kids now 😂
What a car, I love the light coloured interior, it looks in great nick (saggy headlining aside). Hope this series does well and you can keep it a while as you clearly have a bit of a thing for Maseratis and V8s. You've always got the option of swapping the RR for something cheaper (and hopefully more reliable!) to free up funds too.
As of today, my dad has just collected his 2011 Maserati GranCabrio and we absolutely cannot wait to use it! These cars really are proper 4 seaters, I'm 6'2, my grandad (who was picking it up with us) is 6'1 and my dad is 6'3 and I was able to do a very happy 2.5 hours home in the backseat
I have a 2011 Maserati GranCabrio S and I just love it! At 6'1" my 5'8" grown daughter has sit in the back on a 6 hour car ride down the California coast. Amazing car! Congrats to your father wise choice.
Love this! Logic would say get a Quattroporte, but this is so cool! Infotainment in the back 100%, as well as snack/drink solutions for everyone. Also some kind of on the go cleaning solutions (a built in hoover would be the DREAM). All I can think of even with 1 15 month old and a 540i is storage storage storage ahahaha
Roof rack option: SeaSucker board rack with a Kamei 330l roof box. Mount with the U-bolts provided. I used one of these SeaSucker racks to put a kayak on a 2012 Audi S5. All the seasucker bike racks are excellent too, many different options. My current Dad car: Audi S4 Avant 2018
Hi Ben. i love your channel. You need some sort of tv screens in the back to keep the rugrats entertained on journeys. All the best for the future. I have 4 grown up children and 3 grandrugrats myself so know how difficult it is to keep them entertained and happy on journeys. All the best for the future my friend.
Adorable girls Ben! My suggestion is a bit off your current thinking. As dad of 3 kids myself, one of the very best safety features you can get is an upgrade of your car control skills. I took a one day course at Skip Barber at Laguna Seca Raceway and they teach you slide control, car control, emergency lane change, lots of race skills that made me a better driver. If you are going to have all 4 of your girls in the back seat with you and your wife, better driving skills for you would be warranted IMHO. Consider it, I know it is not what you were thinking, but it might save precious cargo some day! Cheers mate.
I did a extreme weather control day at MB world last month :) there’s a reel on my Instagram showing it. You can never stop learning so will always be looking to do these kinds of things
Ben, you need a smaller plate. There is actually no legal requirement for the plate to be a rectangle, or that ‘standard’ size. The dimensions are letter size +13mm or so. So you can legally cut it down or even change the shape. Look up Lamborghini plates for example. I did a video about it on mine and cut the plates down to match the shape of the grill on the front - she just passed the MOT with them and yes the tester did check.
That build is some challenge! :) I wonder if removing the rear lateral interior panels and replacing them with some leather trimmed thin foam like STP, could buy a couple of inches in width for the Multimac? Also, I would consider completely removing the entire back seat and replacing the seat cushions with a custom built frame (gain some storage space underneath) and also the backrest with a horizontal bar, to increase boot size and reduce weight. Because if you fit 6 in a 4 seater, plus roof rack, maybe bike carrier too, and fully load with luggage, that might compromise ride quality, perhaps even safety. In this case, I'd consider mounting some adjustable coilovers. As for the roof carrier, guess suction cup mounts would be a convenient option.
Maybe a tow bar (detachable), trailer tent and put the bikes on the trailer tent? Then headrest mounts for 2 rear screens for pickles entertainment? I like the slight detour from the trading down series, great work Ben! (TUBE DAD / TU63 DAD is also for sale at £250 for a 2013 or newer car!)
Cant wait to watch this build! Considering a Granturismo S myself! I think youve covered most things, but as the roof lining is coming off anyway. Why not get some RR inspired starlights up there to help them drift off at night!
You might consider a towing receiver. It may be uncommon outside the USA. A towing receiver can accept a towing ball, but can also accept a bike rack adapter and many more accessories. Including a trailer. You might also consider occasionally more DRAMATIC!!!! thumbnails, like: OMG! Is this the beginning of the end?! Just a thought. OMG!!!
Hey Ben, love your channel and have subscribed quite a while ago. And I am not even a dad. What a great idea this is! As your daughter mentioned, a table. Perhaps one of those tables top spec Jaguars have can be adapted? Then it also looks good when not in use. And screens in the headrests?
It can be done, it's not rocket science! IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER. Let yourself think outside the box. Use everything, even the side trim and maybe the front seats also (some seats that have costummade backs that can hold tables and more but the tables can also come out from the sides). For the bikes you can even use the roof and maybe take out the front wheel than put it back when you arrive this way the bike will I guess fit in the trunk. Or buy one of those roof luggage boxes I don't know how you call those (then the trunk can be made bigger and used for other stuff). The girls said they need a bin. You can put and even hide that under the seats but you have to see what is under there or even on the shelf. Also you can raise your seats a bit and put something useful under. Also don't neglect the front part of the car, besides the infotainment you can check out what is behind the central console, I'm referring to the part which is near the left leg /foot of the passenger, there can be empty space maybe. Chek the bootlid and even the sides of the trunk see what is hiding there, maybe you can make the boot bigger. Digitalization may be the way to go, they want to color they will color on some screens, tablets, don't take so much stuff. Put a little fridge in the trunk if you want. Also magnets that hold screens/tablets when you are done with those they can hold something else. You'll need chargports (that's not so hard to do). A no-brainer thing angain: use those compressable things (you put clothes in them for example and afterwards you suck out all the air with the vacuum cleaner saves tons of space for very cheap and no mods). You said you'll want a camera in the back: well then for very cheap you can change the rear view mirror to a digital one which connects to a camera from behind and use the parcel shelf for your mods. Those seats that you want can also come with pockets. Other ideea: use zippers and velcro. On the roofline which is sagging you can put ofcourse some kind of retractable screen but on the sides maybe you can add some storage spaces which clip on by magnet, velcro or clips and close by zippers or by other way this way the girl can acces it easily. Ofcourse the headrest can be used even for storage and screen (or else) holder. Use your brain not money some of the stuff can be even made out of hard cardboard. Use everything that this car has in your advantage. In order to do this you should know well every inch of the car and what hides under it. I would call you but I don't have your number.
This is a really good ideal to get a lovely coupe into family car, I do use Seasucker Monkey Bar to fit roofbox onto my Continental GT and tested during many road trips, I can bring the system for you to try, please let me know if you want to.
Another excellent video, keep the enthusiasm going (the real secret to RUclips success). Get a Nintendo game console fitted, you can imagine the 4 kids playing Mario cart while you’re driving.
Morning Ben, you can’t take a multi tool to the interior, come on Dadcar supporters, let get this done proper to keep the interior looking original, keep up entertaining us Ben, the R8 is now in with Ashley for its first service under my ownership. Let’s see what Ashley finds when the work commences, 🤞Marcus
Could you make a Granturismo trailer like the BMW one Auto Alex has? Better than a top box, would make it even more unique and just find a crashed front end one and start cutting, simples!!! Ha ha good luck with the whole build
Surely this is relatively simple, a tow hitch that you can mount a bike rack to or even a cargo box (Thule type that tilt work well ) plus the Android head units that replace the sticky aircon controls and give you Apple carplay better audio, rear cameras and satnav solve most of your problems fairly simply
Maybe not the most exciting, but I'd vote for some protection film around the area where those kids shoes/boots might scratch the paint when trying to get into the back seat
@ like fitting 6 people comfortably in a car isn’t asking for practicality? 🤣🤣 Big fan. Not hating, just saying. You get the exact same thrills and emotions seeing as it’s the same car underneath with the added bonus of getting all in comfortably. Anyways, I’m probably missing the point here as it’s a cool build/project.. but anyways
As an ultimate daderati, you need to know the money you put into a Maserati will not give you any returns. Do things that are reversible. Do not get a dedicated stereo and cut into the dash. I have done wireless backup camera system for 8 of my extended family involving 2005 cls55amg, 2011 rx8, 2004 fx35, 2 Honda accords, civic hybrid, vw Jetta wagon and a Nissan Sentra. You need a garmin bc40 wireless camera and license place mount, and a garmin drivesmart gps 55/65/66/76/86… anything that’s compatible with the bc40 and you are golden! A great shout out to garmin and maybe get a sponsorship!
Ben, If your monkeys want table surfaces to work on, then I'm guessing Maserati have already designed a solution ( for the QuattroPorte ), with seat-mounted folding tables. I'd have thought it wouldn't be too difficult to jerry-rig something into the GT....best of luck with this project, I'll be keenly watching
Do you have 3 or more children? Check out the Multimac! 🤩 www.multimac.com/home?ref=yjk5zme
but how do these Multimac change the V5 of the car and thus also the insurance situation? I like the concept but want to ensure it is legal and not cause more issues - including crash safety.

I wonder if the law or police need to somehow approve it as technically the vehicle is holding more passengers than the V5 allows for.
one idea put maserati quattroporte back seats in the back they may fit. That give you 5 seat car.
Ben, no car project can be done without actual tools! This is going to be epic so use this against a small part of the new tool set.
Come on DadCar fans, let's buy Ben a tool set!
Hey man sorry I missed this! Wow thank you so much very kind :) I will put it towards the build 🙌❤️ have a super week 😊

Awesome!! I can’t wait to review a Panamera :)
Excited for the series! Here's hoping the Daderati is your "Phil"
That would be the dream :) just need lots of people to watch the series 🙏

This really would be epic 😅
Great video! Can't wait to see the 4 across Multimac. And, congrats on that partnership! It's perfect for the channel!
Thanks Ant! Slightly different to your latest Italian purchase 😅 both Dad Cars though!
Putting cars aside for one moment, you are clearly a GREAT Dad. Your girls are always really engaged when you have them in your videos and they're always enthusiastic with their ideas. It's lovely to see.

Thanks man :)
Looking forward to this!

THIE IS AN AMAZING IDEA!!! 100% yes! 👏
@ it has the added bonus of being cheaper and more practical, massive win 🎉

Yes I will film the Multimac being fitted for sure :)
Awesome series idea! Cannot wait to see how the build progresses!
Thanks man!!
It's ace how excited your miniature people get about this.
Hope you get to keep the maserati.
Me too although first evening views on this video are way down 🤷♂️😪
Early days yet
As a man with no kids yet who likes the inside of his car to be clean the shot of your RR post Scotland gave me a minot heart attack. Thinking whether or not I really want kids now 😂
lol 😂 you get used and learn to let it go otherwise Dad life will be stressful as heck!
What a car, I love the light coloured interior, it looks in great nick (saggy headlining aside). I have a 2011 Maserati GranCabrio S and I just love it! At 6'1" my 5'8" grown daughter has sit in the back on a 6 hour car ride down the California coast. Amazing car! Congrats to your father wise choice.
Look at SeaSucker roof mounts, ideal for when you can’t get roof bars or use universal roof bars. Can then fit roof boxes or bike racks.
Yeah I’ve seen these 👍
How about a suspension lift? I'm fed up grounding our Vanquish on our trips and I'd imagine the Maserati might be similar.
Yeah the front lip does catch a lot but it’s not carbon fibre 😅 great idea this
Very nice. Watching your channel is tempting me to get a Maserati!
Get a PPI and go for it :)
@dadcars agreed!
Love the energy! Roof rack and box would be interesting
Towbar? With a towbar you could have bike rack or backbox for extra storage
They’ve never had screens in any of our cars! They would love it though I am sure :)
Best is you can get them with BT Headsets. Keeps 4 Pickles happy and gives Mom and Dad hours of blessed silence (apart from the giggles)!
Adorable girls Ben! My suggestion is a bit off your current thinking. As dad of 3 kids myself, one of the very best safety features you can get is an upgrade of your car control skills. I did a extreme weather control day at MB world last month :) there’s a reel on my Instagram showing it. You can never stop learning so will always be looking to do these kinds of things
@dadcars Missed that, driver learning is almost always worth it. Glad you do it for your family.
Daderati may seem a sacrilege but ... what the hell, you're Ben and Welcome to Dadcars is fantastic, good luck Ben and Kudos to you!
Amazing as always Ben
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it :)
I'm a minute in and just not convinced a Maserati has the space for 6 people. But let's see what happens. Good luck!
Seems impossible right!
One thing I would suggest is a toe bar so you can put the bikes on there and that way it leaves the roof free for a roof box 👍
👏👏👏
an old fashioned chuffer screen - double glazed / soundproof - just block the noise from the back
🤣
Ben, you need a smaller plate. There is actually no legal requirement for the plate to be a rectangle, or that ‘standard’ size. The dimensions are letter size +13mm or so. So you can legally cut it down or even change the shape. Look up Lamborghini plates for example. I did a video about it on mine and cut the plates down to match the shape of the grill on the front - she just passed the MOT with them and yes the tester did check.
Ah that’s cool I’ll have to look into it :)
Best of luck mate been a pleasure watching your channel evolve since we were a community of less than a 100 ❤
Ah thanks man! Proper OG! 😊back then I had no ideas we would be where we are now
That build is some challenge! :) I wonder if removing the rear lateral interior panels and replacing them with some leather trimmed thin foam like STP, could buy a couple of inches in width for the Multimac? Some great suggestions thanks! :) width wise were fine :) it will fit as is but I just want a bit more head height and leg space 🙌
If you are doing the Headlining, why don't you install a Rolls-Royce Starlight liner? your kids will love it!
That would be epic :)
love the video! I really want to go look for an older car like this but prices in Germany are not as cheap as the UK.
Yeah we’re fortunate with many cars here in the UK
Wow, it will be amazing to see 4 seats across the back. Do you need to advise your insurance company?
Yeah just notify them, I made a video about fitting one in my wife’s RR link in description :)
If you can fit a tow bar, you'll have loads of options for bike racks or boxes or even a trailer.
Yes, great idea!
Glad you like the idea :) yeah there’s a few cheap dad plates
This will be a great series to watch!
😊🙌
That is incredible! Ahaa excited to see. The table on the back of the seats is a great idea. Maybe back of the seat storage with a table 2 in 1?
They love a table in a car 😂 think it’s the best thing ever. They’d have loved the XJ Supersport
Looking forward to this build Ben, it’s gonna be epic!!! 🔥 ❤
Thanks man!! If I have my way this car will be a keeper! ❤️❤️❤️
Some spacers to the back wheels maybe.
Great idea Ben. I asked ChatGP and it came up with all the stuff you had already thought of.
Brilliant. love the plate and keep the content coming...
Thanks for watching man! 🙌
Cant wait to watch this build! Considering a Granturismo S myself!
I think youve covered most things, but as the roof lining is coming off anyway. Why not get some RR inspired starlights up there to help them drift off at night!
They would love that :)
Love this! Great project… you have always said sliding doors 😂 or a bulk head between the front and the back 😂😂😂
Keep it up!
😂
Man love this Ben such a cool build great vid thanks man ❤🎉🎉
Great idea for a mini series 👏
🙌🙌❤️
0:30 if you do end up putting an x-pipe on it, I'd love to see a little review on that
I’ll do a video for sure 3)
+1
Maserati family car sounds fun❤❤❤❤❤
🙌🥰
Keep going! Love the concept❤😊!
Thanks man! 🙌

Rooftop Tent and Boot mounted camping stove 😊
I like it!
Curtains for the back seat
😅👏
Hey Ben, love your channel and have subscribed quite a while ago. And I am not even a dad.
What a great idea this is!
As your daughter mentioned, a table. Perhaps one of those tables top spec Jaguars have can be adapted? Then it also looks good when not in use. And screens in the headrests?
Ah cool thanks man! I guess anything is possible! We’ve never had screens in any of our cars and they’ve just got used to not having them 😂
Looks great 👍
Love the idea for this build series, can’t wait to see how the daderati ends up! 😎

Great comment and suggestions! 👏😊
What about a towbar?
It'll enable lots of rear mounted accessories
👏👏😅
Wish you all the best!
Thanks man!
Cup of tea, enjoy this great video 😁
Yay! Thank you!
Love the new plate! 😁
🙌😅
Dude, this is awesome. I love my Gran Cabrio Sport. I also have and love my Rover Sport. Great vehicles.
Cool duo :)
Nice!
Please review a s63 amg coupe
I will eventually I am sure! :)
This is a really good ideal to get a lovely coupe into family car, I do use Seasucker Monkey Bar to fit roofbox onto my Continental GT and tested during many road trips, I can bring the system for you to try, please let me know if you want to.
I had no idea you have 4 kids, so do I! Keen to see how you can pull this off. Fully expected you to start off with a quottroporte as a starting base?
That would be too easy wouldn’t it 😎
How about a tow bar? Then a trailer, tow hitch bike rack or caravan?
Lots suggesting a tow bar 😅
Great intro mate! 😅
🙌😊
I'm pretty sure Shmee150 put a roofbox on his Ferrari using some sort of suction cup system. Good luck!
The grand sport looks 🤌🏼
Loved that car
@ I can see it from your old vids❤️
Tow bar and a caravan ofcourse.
😅
I keep that as my own little toy and get the mrs and kids catch the bus 😂😂😂
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Cool content
Thanks man! 🙌
Cant wait to see the mod
What audio upgrades are you going for?
Not sure! Open to ideas! Can’t afford to lose any space though
@dadcarsjust replacing speakers or subwoofer?
Another excellent video, keep the enthusiasm going (the real secret to RUclips success). Get a Nintendo game console fitted, you can imagine the 4 kids playing Mario cart while you’re driving.
Thanks man! Yeah they love playing the switch :)
Awesome 👏 I’ll be back filming with Ash soon enough :)
I think you should definitely keep the car long-term!
If I can I will :)
Commenting for the algorithm, looking forward to more of the daderati 👍 (I don’t usually like or comment on anyone’s videos)
Thanks man I really appreciate this 🙌😊
Could you make a Granturismo trailer like the BMW one Auto Alex has? Better than a top box, would make it even more unique and just find a crashed front end one and start cutting, simples!!! Ha ha good luck with the whole build
lol that would be awesome
I want to see where this goes so that I can most prolly do it in the future
Surely this is relatively simple, a tow hitch that you can mount a bike rack to or even a cargo box (Thule type that tilt work well ) plus the Android head units that replace the sticky aircon controls and give you Apple carplay better audio, rear cameras and satnav solve most of your problems fairly simply
A tow bar on a granturismo is fairly simple?
@dadcars am sure youre right, I thought this was real but have concerns its been edited ruclips.net/video/58NnJPi6138/видео.html
10:02 you now need a tool sponsor
If any companies want to send me a set I’ll be happy to use it in my videos :)
Maybe not the most exciting, but I'd vote for some protection film around the area where those kids shoes/boots might scratch the paint when trying to get into the back seat
It does have some ppf around that section already :)
6 inch Lift Kit and all terrains
How about a set of steels on the car with some chunky tyres?
lol overlander build 😅
@ give it a roof tent and calll it the masatenti
Can’t be many 6 seater Maserati camper vehicles
Ben, best option is you change it to a QPVS 😅
Fitting 6 people in a GT will be doable, but fitting all comfortably is another thing
I’ll get a QP when I need something more practical 😎
@ like fitting 6 people comfortably in a car isn’t asking for practicality? 🤣🤣
Big fan.
Yeah the channel is not big enough to do irreversible changes… that’s why I got the spare centre console :)
Bring neons back. Surely the children would love some Fast and Furious underglow.
lol 😂 I feel like that’s a JDM thing 😅
Great👍
Sub £5k sensible backup car? Am I sensing a VR6?
lol 😂 I’m thinking really sensible and reliable, would be a novelty for me to actually do an episode on a reliable car purchase!
@dadcars VR6 Sirrocco then! Storm Edition
@dadcars but for goodness sake, not some boring korean box
Ben, If your monkeys want table surfaces to work on, then I'm guessing Maserati have already designed a solution ( for the QuattroPorte ), with seat-mounted folding tables. I'd have thought it wouldn't be too difficult to jerry-rig something into the GT....best of luck with this project, I'll be keenly watching
Great idea :)
I am interested
🙌😊
Please try get a tow bar 😂 with a camping trailer!
😅
My Pickle says you should install a slushy machine.
😅👏👏👏 what a brilliant idea! We all love slushies ❤️
Get a Lavante
A perfectly sensible comment :)
