As a freshly divorced dad of 2, all those years ago, I regularly drove my 2 children, (girl 5 and boy 3) up to my home town of Middlesbrough from Fareham in my trusty BMW 320cd. 10 years later and I still have the car and still drive the not so small children up.
Thank you Ben. I’ve been watching your channel a few years now and recently i replaced my seat Leon with a alfa romeo Giulia partially because of your channel inspiring me to stop having boring cars.
The trick to getting better MPG in my experience is using cruise control on the motorway and using the speed up or down buttons to control the speed. It uses exactly the amount of throttle it needs every time
I bit the bullet and picked up a Maserati GT Sport earlier this year. My pickles are 18 & 13 but they still fit nicely in the back and it is a great dadcar. Well done on your purchase! I suppose I better get myself some of those stickers now...
Two of the greatest Automotive RUclips finds are Ben and Taylor, because both are the perfect Petrol Heads; really nice, kind, genuine people who love cars and want to share that passion, no matter what it is. And the whole making memories thing goes both ways; some of my most beloved memories I've made with my 650i over the last two years are taking my nieces places. Ok, it's not a true DadCar but I follow Ben's example of sharing my passion (And their Dad's, he owns a Z4) for cars with the next generation.
We keep most of our Pickle’s productions 😂 we still find devil’s dust in both our cars and it gets a top up every so often. Just realised we have the Cybex child seat, ours is the top tether type and yours is the footwell support leg version. Love the noise the Daderati makes!! Last time I went C&M with Pickle we didn’t get home til after 4AM because the alternator packed up 😢 wondering if should brave it again and go to the Petrolheadonism yard night at the Hut this Thursday or not? I’d love to go to a meet next year! I know Pickle would love to see Uncle Ben again!! Oh I also listen to Road to success! You should definitely get on for a chat!!
Thanks Albert 🙌😊 I just need to find a venue that loves the ethos and I’ll set one up next year. Be fun having some party bags and activities for the little ones
Great video! Having driven 11 hrs in the S2000 in October without my 4 year old complaining I’m definitely of the long haul ethos. Get yourself one of those 12v Bluetooth to FM radio connectors and stream your phone to the speakers for £20!
Hi Ben It was great to meet you and thanks for taking the time to talk to me about all things RUclips and cars. Love that you got my lit up beetle leaving the meet. The Daderati is an epic car as well 🤘
Mrs chucked everything apart from lock of daughters hair , I mean stuff they make is priceless, she still has hair when she gets older Love your vids mate
Great video buddy. That's very good a true 25+ mpg in a 4.7 V8 . Beautiful car aesthetically to look at and they Sound epic too . Have a great Sunday fellow dad .👍
Discovered your channel, having becoming a father for the first time to my now 7 month year old son. Being a fellow petrol head concessions have been made, and my dad wagon is currently a 2015 Jaguar XFS 3.0D Portfolio. Which im absolutely loving! I wish id grown a pair and bought the 'R' but in my life right now the running costs of a 5.0 ontop of everything else just didnt make sense! Loving your content bud, and all the best to you and the family!
Ben, love your stuff. Reminds me of when I used to take my girls out and about when they were toddlers...great times. Hope the little one had fun and keep up the great work! As for the preschool stuff....glitter never seems to end! Would defo be up for a dad cars meet up!
I love a day out with one of the kids as a bit of one-to-one time but the suggestion of making a video of your day trip is great! What a lovely memory. Definitely doing that next time! 👍
I dont have kids, but I occasionally pick up my grand niece and nephew, and Childs seats in a S5 for me takes ages as well, longer than the journey at times, thankfully its only twice a year
Hi Ben. Hope you and family are doing good. I loved the video. I really love how much leg room there is in the front and back in the Daderati. Love the color of it too inside and out. I like the MPGs of it too, not bad miles per gallon at all. Stay safe and take care.
Oh no! My car is on Dadcars video before I've managed to put the daderati stickers on it 😂 it was nice to see you on Thursday! Regarding mpg, on the day I collected my 4.2, I've reset the trip computer when filling up the car, just before getting on the motorway. 180 cold and wet motorway miles later, doing the speed limit, the trip computer was showing 29.6mpg, so I was very plesently surprised.
USB sockets on the Granturismo don’t like iPhones for some reason. Solution for infotainment is a BT-163 dongle about £5 on eBay. Plugs into usb and has a small audio 3.5mm jack that plugs into audio jack next to usb socket. When you put CDs in infotainment, you can copy them onto the hard disc. Anyway the sportsmaserati forum has details on Aucar which make a £1k head unit upgrade, £5 dongle is a bit cheaper though. I did a bit on BT 163 here if you want to see how it fits.
Hi Ben another quality video, so glad your enjoying your new car ,would love to see a dad cars event at caffeine and machine. I'd love to bring the van back up with its new interior. If this goes ahead could you give me plenty of a heads up so I can make sure I can be there 👍
Hi Ben, I have a GT as well. I have a bluetooth aux adapter plugged in, this allows me to play music etc from my phone and even allows the audio to come through the speakers when watching Videos on my phone. Ideal for the little ones when watching Bluey when on a long trip.
If you want to be more discreet with activating/deactivating the alarm you can put the alarm into dutch mode. • Put the key in and turn to MAR (ignition on). • Turn on hazards. • Press and hold the rear foglight button. • Turn it to OFF -> MAR -> OFF very quickly • Release the rear foglight button. • You should hear 4 slow quiet beeps. This says you're in programming mode. • Press the rear foglight button 4 times (for Holland setting - no beeps), it beeps each time you press it. • Put the key back in to MAR within 10 secs. • The system will beep again quietly 4 times (or the number you set it to). • Then take the key out and turn the hazards off. It should be set. The Dutch setting is 4 presses of the fog light, you can re-instate the beep by changing back to the UK setting with 5 presses. *Copied from a Maserati expert*
Glad you've got another Maserati Ben, lovely car. I've managed to get 25 MPG from my 2003 Maserati 4200 coupe on a run taking it easy. Well done, take care mate.
@dadcars I believe the GS has an extra cat which could contribute to that. Mine has Powerflow straight through exhausts, no back boxes, sounds glorious.
Hi Ben, no getting away from it, that Gran Turismo is bite the back of your hand beautiful. I’m still in limbo as to whether I should’ve bought a Maserati or my DB9! Prefer the seats in the Maserati to be honest. Best MPG I’ve had in the Aston was 21.9 on a long run from Aberdeenshire to Stratford on Avon! Down and back on less than 3 tankfulls! Might I suggest looking in Amazon for a Bluetooth plug in thingy for connecting to your phone rather than rip the guts out of your OEM entertainment system. I put one in my 2006 SLK 350 and it worked fine! Cheers Ben!👍👏👏❤️
Well done Ben. That aas a good little trip out and 25mpg is pretty good considering that much more boring stuff isnt a lot better. Cars like my Octavia PHEV that only does 40mpg if I'm lucky.
My wife drove our 2012 Maserati GranTurismo S (4.7L) from our home in Southern California to our home in Utah this summer. It was her and her parents and she averaged just under 27 MPG (26.7 U.S.) The trip computer said about 22 MPG for the 700 mile trip. I drove the car back and averaged 24 MPG as I drove a lot faster than her. Not bad as around town I always average way less than 20. My MGTS is stock but I do have a Pedal Commander on it for more fun as it really increases the response and let's me enjoy the revs and noise a lot more.
you did well to get that for 10.5 k , i paid much more 18 months ago for my 2012 .Unfortunately its parked up in the garage as i have too many other hobbies lol , but will be getting out around easter time for some window down exhaust music lol. thanks for sharing
Before I even watch this, I’ll echo my shock at how my b7 rs4, is more economical than my ml350cdi I just sold! There was nothing wrong with the merc btw, and also bear in mind that the actual fuel is cheaper too, win win!
I have to admit, we only keep about 0.01% of the glorious “creations” that come from school and Busybees. Hand made birthday or fathers/mothers’ day cards are definitely kept though. 🥰
I bought the DocklinQ INVERY adapter plugs in the glovebox to connect your phone / music to the car audio, works really well! ZF box is so suited to the GT isn't it! BTW 27mpg on a run.
My 2.5 year old loves the noise my W204 C63 makes, so it gives me an excuse to be an antisocial teenager and rev it when he's in the car with me. I'll never forget owning this car and the memories I'll make with him in it.
Looks like the Mas could do with a dry ice clean for the engine and underneath then anti corrosion treatment like evaporust and some Bilt Hamber hard wax and clear wax corrosion protection to finish. Reach out to the companies for some sponsorship 👍
Loving the vids, interesting to see how Daderati vehicles computers are better than the wild L322 computers, I reckon my L322 2011 is at least 10 to 20% off.
For sure it appears the GranTurismo is more economical than the 4.2 GS/42. Strange why though. I have had 24 mpg on a long boring run up the motorway in my 4200. When i collected her 13 years ago after purchasing and it was heavy rain up the M1! Never had that again, though, but 20+ is easily achievable on the motorway.
Just bought a car tablet for my old Jaguar XKR. Apple CarPlay and dash cam. Fm transmitter built in so don’t need to do any complicated fitting or adapting. Remove from dash when done
Yes yes yes, dad car meet would be a great idea I look forward to that one. Joint event with Auto Alex and JM on cars? Btw still don't understand why you got such low mpg on the gransport. Mine no where near as bad
On a trip from San Jose, California to Paso Robles, California and back with cruise control set at 76 mph, the computer said we got 26.3 mpg, but I did not check at the pump (2011 GranTurismo S 4.7)
I get 15mpg in my Granturismo but I’m always is sport manual lol. Also I did once put it in ICE mode got 24mpg in no traffic which is rare in Los Angeles lol. I use beevo blue tooth device it plugs into your glove box then you use aux button and you can stream music from your phone. There are cheaper ones too
Lexus LC500 V8, 10 speed Auto Long road trips 69 mph and eco mode. 35mpg (USA Gallons) the best I got. 31-33mpg more typical. Around 20mpg around town exclusively (stop and go, lights, etc.) If I’m having a bit of fun though that numbers in the teens 😂
Ha ha small world, for some reason I thought you were from London area not Cosham, was there couple of weeks ago stayed in Holiday Inn express on our mammoth journey back to England. Used to live in Hilsea area... great car by the way 👍
You can buy a Bluetooth device that plugs in to the 12v sockets and you can turn the radio into a speaker so you can play songs/GPS etc through your car with your phone 📱
Does your infotainment unit have a hard drive built in? My Quattroporte has a Bose system with a 30GB hard drive, and if you insert a Cd or a USB drive it can copy songs as MP3 files. Mine also has a 30-pin iPod connector, so I bought an old iPod 'classic' and filled that with songs. Having said all that, I usually turn the stereo off, open the sunroof and listen to the wondrous sound of that V8...
What would be a good video is to go back and look at all the cars you’ve had up to now and say which was the best in terms of performance and running costs
Ben you are so lucky to meet taylor unfortunately I won't ever be lucky enough mate and to make things worse I have learning disabilities ben can I suggest if you can try a electric
Hi Ben, congrats on the new Daderati and success with the channel! Question for you - I need a fun, sporty car that I can still get two rear facing isofix child seats in the back, meaning one would have to go behind me (however I am only short at 5'6") and I still need to be able to take my 3 year old in the passenger seat so I can carry both twin babies and my 3 year old daughter at the same time... odd scenario but wondered if you had any quirky ideas with a budget of £12/13k max Cheers! 👍
Speak to Matt about the car play. I have it in my GT Sport and it works a treat. Exactly the same looks but press the phone button and it turns into the usual Apple Car play/ AutoAndroid device. It also comes with a reversing camera.
My Maserati, which is a 3200 auto, does 27 mpg on the motorway which I think is very good for a 25 year old twin turbo car. It’s not so good at urban driving though; about 14 mpg.
Here's an idea for the music....CD's! Maybe it's not a solution for your music, but all those nursery rhymes and such will be easy to find on CD, and it's completely OEM😂
100% of it is kept, when they are in their 20s, you'll treasure it, trust me - father of 3 with 2 Maseratis (kids art and other items created in School related comment)
I was gutted I could not make it to the meet as it’s my local one. You should 100% do a meet I would be there for sure. Great vid and your daughter was so well behaved ❤🙌 another excellent vid
Impressive fuel economy. The best I've had from the RS6 C6 was 27.9 mpg if the trip computer is honest, and that had a bit of traffic and two uses of the loud pedal 😂. If you do hold an event, I'd love to bring the RS6. I am however, not a Dad 😢. Wanted to be but at 38 years of age & single, I think that ship has sailed 😂

That’s my Dad car 🤩. Would really love that sticker on it.
As a father of a 7 week old baby girl it’s amazing how relevant your videos are becoming 😂 Please keep up the good work
Awesome I love to hear this 🙌😊
Same, but with a 1 year old lol
Taylor and Ben, two of the nicest, most genuine automotive youtubers!
Taylor is so lovely isn’t he 😅
You know what mate, I'm really enjoying watching you push on and make connections in the YT car world. Smashing it, onwards and upwards!
Ah thanks man, Alex and crew have been so lovely to me. They are incredibly kind 🙌😊

That interior looks gorgeous, and absolutely mint. Your little girl is a star.
Fantastic to meet you both there! It was a brilliant night filled with amazing people!
Thanks for letting her play in the car! That was awesome :)
Good video bro, great to see you involved so much with Taylor and AutoAlex, all the best 👍🏽
Yeah Alex has been so kind to me :) helped me on and off screen 😊
Keep on making those memories Ben, they grow up so fast and they will love you more for making time for them, thank you

Hi Ben
It was great to meet you and thanks for taking the time to talk to me about all things RUclips and cars.

@dadcars Your welcome Ben. I'm doing good, thanks .
Loving the whole Dadcars message, such an important channel for the car community! Well done mate. ❤
Ah thanks man!!! Hopefully in time we will get all the Petrolhead parents on board and subscribing 😊
Amazing little pickle mate! Incredible memories and well done Ben!
Thanks man :)
I’m just glad you’re out of the SUVs Ben, Dad Cars is back 👍
Brilliant Video Ben
Thanks man

Glad you caught us before we left! That’s a crazy coincidence! 🙌
Arrange a meet in 2025, and I'll be there with at least one of my children. All the best to you, Ben.
Awesome! Watch this space leave it with me!!
Me too! I’m in Southampton
I'm in Peterborough, so south coast is a bit of a trek, but handy for DadCars. 🙃
I wonder what mileage return a 4.7 euro 6 Granturismo gets in comparison to this euro 4. By rights it should be much better though I doubt it is.
Just picked up a 2010 GT so very excited to see your winterization project as I'm sure I'll need to do the same!

If you want to be more discreet with activating/deactivating the alarm you can put the alarm into dutch mode.
• Put the key in and turn to MAR (ignition on).
• Turn on hazards.
• Press and hold the rear foglight button.
• Turn it to OFF -> MAR -> OFF very quickly
• Release the rear foglight button.

Yeah I've had 24 from my GS fairly regularly doing about 70 over long distances.
That’s interesting! My GS was very bad on fuel

thanks for sharing
The sound of that v10 is godly
Isn’t it a V8?
I get 14mpg in town but use sport and manual quite a bit. Mid 20’s on a longer, motorway run. I use ICE for longer runs too. I have a 2014 GT Sport
Better than expected
I’m really made up with it!
Really dig the Deputy Dawg look.....
😂 I’ve had man flu this week so I just dressed for comfort 😅
We keep the glitters all over our shirts and return the paper to nature 😂
Before I even watch this, I’ll echo my shock at how my b7 rs4, is more economical than my ml350cdi I just sold! There was nothing wrong with the merc btw, and also bear in mind that the actual fuel is cheaper too, win win!
When I bought mine complete with dodgy wandering rear wheel (bad tie rod) I got 25mpg. Since then I have had 20mpg.

I had something similar for my dadb9, where does it plug in? The usb socket in glove box?
Best dadcar I ever had was my CL500
😂😂😂 Snack tax!!!! That’s what I do! Cracked me up Ben.
You gotta pay the snack tax 🤷♂️ Dads are entitled to it

Appreciate it!

She’s been in cars with me since she was tiny so I think all mine have just got used to it 😊
How did I miss the car meet? Damn. Would've brought my daughter along and in my Dadcar - Audi RS4 Avant b8.5
Listen to the AA podcast it’s epic and you’ll get heads up on the events :)
Have a look for an MMI box for the Maserati, should give you what you need.
Snack tax 😂 love it, I'm stealing that idea 🤣
I've had a genuine 26mpg on a motorway run from my RS6 C6, with lots of temptation resisted along the way! 😄
😂 it’s a bit dull driving like that isn’t it
Loving the vids, interesting to see how Daderati vehicles computers are better than the wild L322 computers, I reckon my L322 2011 is at least 10 to 20% off.
I’ve heard JLR is a bit cheeky! I’ll have to do similar on my wife’s L405 sometime!

I don’t have the Bose system 🫠
What would be a good video is to go back and look at all the cars you’ve had up to now and say which was the best in terms of performance and running costs
I got a Tunai Firefly for playing music from my phone, very tiny solution, seems to work OK.
Lovely car 🔥
Ben you are so lucky to meet taylor unfortunately I won't ever be lucky enough mate and to make things worse I have learning disabilities ben can I suggest if you can try a electric
Hopefully you can come to a meet one day I’m sure Taylor would love to meet you :) I have tried several EVs on the channel 🙌
@dadcars ok that's great to know mate and I would love to meet up with you as well mate you are amazing as well keep up the good work
Hi Ben, congrats on the new Daderati and success with the channel!
Question for you - I need a fun, sporty car that I can still get two rear facing isofix child seats in the back, meaning one would have to go behind me (however I am only short at 5'6") and I still need to be able to take my 3 year old in the passenger seat so I can carry both twin babies and my 3 year old daughter at the same time... odd scenario but wondered if you had any quirky ideas with a budget of £12/13k max
Cheers! 👍
Speak to Matt about the car play. I have it in my GT Sport and it works a treat. Exactly the same looks but press the phone button and it turns into the usual Apple Car play/ AutoAndroid device. It also comes with a reversing camera.
Yeah I’ll sit down and look at all the options soon :)
My Maserati, which is a 3200 auto, does 27 mpg on the motorway which I think is very good for a 25 year old twin turbo car. It’s not so good at urban driving though; about 14 mpg.
First car I ever reviewed on the channel that wasn’t mine or a family members was a 3200 auto ❤️
Alfa 164.... amazing...
Here's an idea for the music....CD's! Maybe it's not a solution for your music, but all those nursery rhymes and such will be easy to find on CD, and it's completely OEM😂
Yeah maybe I should just buy 5 little monkeys the album on CD, must be available on eBay or something 😅
Omg.. she's so cute 😊
Good seeing you their, I was their with my 4 month old
What car seat do you have in the back of the Maserati?
It’s a Cybex :) well done taking your little one 👏😊
@ cheers
He was good as gold the hole day
Ben check the glove box for aux input lead
My phone doesn’t have a headphone jack 🫠
You can get a rechargable or usb /12v Bluetooth dongle that works with 3.5mm aux sockets
@dadcarsyou can get a converter for the iPhone port 🤘
@@morph_combatapple get enough money from me 😤😂
Best I've ever done in my 2014 Granturismo Sport was 9.7L/100k (29.1 UK mpg). That was on a 600km road trip averaging 117kph (~73mph)
Need a grandpa sticker! 😊
I should make a grandadcars sticker shouldn’t I!
4 children?!
Ur a legend
🙌😅
Question, have you been to the Caffeine and Machine local to us? Recognise your home area on your videos, think we live close.
Mad but no! I’ve not been to the southern one yet! I must do soon though :)
Best way to bond and being a petrol head!
❤️❤️
100% of it is kept, when they are in their 20s, you'll treasure it, trust me - father of 3 with 2 Maseratis (kids art and other items created in School related comment)
Awesome! Daderatis for the win!
~ 3:00 - If I can tell what it is I'll keep it!! 🙃
😂
Hello Ben, How often do you expect to get that MPG mate, would be interested in the other end of the scale 😂, Marcus
lol 😂 it’s not much fun driving like that, when I do a spirited driving test I’ll make sure I check the MPG too 👍
Best I ever got in my GranCabrio was 25mpg on a run.
I was gutted I could not make it to the meet as it’s my local one. You should 100% do a meet I would be there for sure. Great vid and your daughter was so well behaved ❤🙌 another excellent vid
Thanks man! 🙌 be great to have a chat at a meet next year 😊
Impressive fuel economy.
Most people have children later these days :)
@dadcars never say never but my hopes aren't high 😂.
