I purchased an incomplete copy on eBay and went down the rabbit hole (or maybe, the genestealer-infested-spaceship-hole) of sourcing, repairing, and painting all the missing pieces of this iconic game.

Space Hulk is the game that got me into miniatures when I first played it in 1989. This video is a work of love I truly appreciated!

This set was sold at a local discount book store in England around the yr 2000. Me and my cousin bought about 4 sets each.

Amazing mate! Can't beat those 90s game designs. I play 1st edition SH with 2nd ed minis but love the look of 2nd. Awesome!
I looked at the rules in the 1st, and I totally understand why you would choose that edition!
And, yes: I think 2nd ed is where it is at for WH40k. The designs got consolidated, and the memories are just too good to pass by!
Miguel, awesome video and super nice project! I never played Space Hulk but I have the feeling I would like it. I recently bought 12 genestealers that I had to clean and a few to repair. I agree, to see the paint to peel off is so satisfying! Well done,brother.
Thanks! I know you would love it. It is a straightforward and action-packed game. There are solo rules from 1st ed, and very good adaptations for later editions, so if you have no one to play with, the Genestealers will be happy to do their own thing!

Once I got the first two or three terminators down, the rest were fun and easy to paint. Middlehammer era games require middlehammer era paintjobs!

@@rushthewash Trust me, I've been around RUclips since the early days. I prefer quality over quantity by a long shot. Notifications are on and you've got a nice backlog of videos to keep busy. I actually just ordered a copy of Space Hulk 4th edition so seeing a video like this really got me pumped up to play it. I always look past those incomplete listings on eBay and the like but this was an awesome project and pretty inspiring to see you give the game the future it deserved. Cheers, dude!

Subscribed. I just finished gathering all the components need to restore the 1st gen 1989 version. Yep, It's expensive.
It is usually cheaper to find a decent copy and go with it. If you miss stuff, even a single tile is priced quite ridiculously.

Miguel, you need now to find a few imperial guards to play the campaign that they put in WD... I can't remember the number, but is one of the 30-40 firsts (in spanish, of course). In fact, you have 3 or 4 more campaigns in WD for SH. Fang of Fenris to play with Wolf Guard, one for the imperial guards, I think that one for the Dark Angels... Also have a few extra rooms, and the corridors! Yours genestealers can enter the ceiling and fall in between your terminators, like in this movie from the 80s... :P
I have vague memories of all that, but I would need to browse my WD collection. Unfortunately, it is all back in Spain and I won't be able to see that happening until the summer!
@rushthewash ok, I did a little research here. WD22 (Dark angels), wd24 (space wolves) and wd27 (blood angels) have a campaign. I KNOW that there is another campaign with imperial guards and another with extra rooms, and corridors. When I found it I will post here. I’m a big fan of 2nd edition too. I like the flamer rules and the additional auto cannon rules printed in the White Dwarf supplement. It’s a pity these two rules were carried through to 3rd and 4th editions. Nice job by the way.

@@rushthewash no problem I’ve always thought the ten shot limit for the auto cannon was ridiculous.
I have yet to try it, haven't played the game other than 2nd edition, and now I am excited I can try it for it!
So how long did it take for the alcohol to remove the paint?
I left it overnight and it was soft enough to remove with the fingers. It usually depends on the paint and how thick it is. Thicker paint seems to be easier to deal with.

Don't be! If you want to get a copy, take your time, bid on bargains, have a plan, and enjoy the process! Anyone can do this with some patience and a little luck on things popping up in second hand markets!
@@rushthewash i have 12 genestealers and 3 squads of terminators i think , 2 armies space wolves ( to paint ) about 2000 points or more and my new baby a tyraniud army i recently got in to , painting as i speak , quite big , say 3500 , yeah i went a bit ballistic , but those tyranids can get under your skin and love blooms , lol , off to paint some more .

Hi I purchased and old 40k box set in the hopes of doing what you have done here but when I received the product it had and had an awful chemical stench like it was stored in a shed with... Well you get the idea any ideas on how to get rid of the scent. Thanks.
It depends on what's actually creating that. I'd probably put it in alcohol to see it that would help. It does with paint!
@@rushthewash I think the actual cardboard may have soaked the smell thanks for the advice if it's the plastic my weekend starts tomorrow from work so I'll have some time to let it air out and figure out what it's causing the scent thanks again.
@sydneylosst8664 it's hard to convey sensorial information like smell here. Try giving it a nice ironing and see what happens.
