LPC LoonCam 2 ~ First Loon Chick Hatches & Possible Pip In Egg #2 🐣 7.8.23

- Welcome to the world baby loon! The chick arrives in the evening and is popping out from underneath Mom's wing to see everyone! I don't have the official hatch time but believe it was 21:59pm. The chick is active all throughout the nigh and there is a possible pip in egg #2 seen. ♥ LPC LoonCam predicts the 2nd hatch at 2am on Monday morning July 8th.
The nest is located near the region of lakes region of central New Hampshire. The first egg was laid June 11, at 18:51:25 and the second egg on June 14 at 9:21:36, or 62 hours apart. Our blogger's precise hatch predictions (and he has a good track record) is: Egg 1: July 8, 10 pm. Egg 2: July 10, 2 am. During incubation, hatch, and before leaving the nest, anything can and has happened. Woohoo Lady Diamond has a baby loon. Going to be beautiful and adorned with diamonds on it's neck like momma. These birds are amazingly good looking, ready for formal dancing on the water.
I can barely recall seeing a similar nest several years ago but I don't think they were loons. I just remember how different to be on the water, but it didn't feel safe, to me, for the parents or the little ones.
Daddy must be nearby on guard duty I presume? Family is very vulnerable to people and wildlife.

GE Lady Hawk! I remember your coverage on this nest last year, this is a really cool camera! I love the camouflage they gave the nest with that canopy. We get a great view of the Mom loon here too as well as her chick. I don't remember how old the loon chicks get before leaving the nest here and taking to the water? Thanks for covering this! 💜

Absolutely! I think the Common Loon and the Barn Owl have some of the most beautiful plumage in the bird world.
@@koalalookback1680 I have a couple of GHO feathers I have found over the years. Barn owl and Barred Owl feathers as well. I see eagles, osprey, and hawks in the wild far more often. Wish I’d see more owls and loons for that matter.
