I still remember wearing a flannel over a white T-shirt that I drew on with a magic marker, shredded jeans with stains and two different Chuck Taylor shoes to school (one was black, the other was furry leopard). The whole idea was to not give a fuck. It's so odd for folks my age to see kids trying to make it some high-fashion today. Because the whole idea was to kind of look like a disorganized messy junkie. 😄😄

I heard about Nevermind by reading a review in my hometown Sunday paper The Chicago Tribune a few months before moving up to Milwaukee to go to art school. The other record they were raving about was Gish. The next day I bought both. Once I got to Milwaukee, there were still flyers pasted on the walls of a little punk rock club called “The Unicorn” from a show back in November. It was Nirvana and Soundgarden on the same bill. And I missed it. They never played a club like that again. I never saw either of them live. I was that close.
I have an early nirvana bootleg when they first got dave and during the whole show whenever Dave would try to say something krist would start blabbing int9 his mic. So funny

Not only did Kurt write some awesome iconic pop songs... but when it came to drop tuning guitar riffs he also wrote some pretty heavy killer riffs.. like Floyd the Barber, Beeswax, and School. Songs like Floyd can almost pass off as like doom or stoner rock.

Here in 2022 and only first heard this song 2 days ago, shot right up there with some of my favourites straight away! I’ve always loved nirvana’s most popular hits from an early age (singing smells like teen spirit on singstar when I was like 7/8) but never really delved into them and listened to full albums, boy am I regretting that now, but in my opinion, good music never ages and it’s never too late to fall in love with a band 🤘
