    My 2013 Chevy Malibu eco was making a squealig noise when I brake. I had the Drive beltTensiiner-s & drive belt- s replaced. The squealing stopped for about 1 month. It rained really bad and then i noticed the squealing noise came back. I'm a woman and every mechanic I go to wants to doesn't know what to do. I took it back to the mechanic that did the belt replacements and he wants to break my engine down to find the problem. Do you know why my car is making this noise and what should be done to repair the problem. Please help me I'm a woman and I feel taken advantage of. 🙏🏾 Please help me. I live in California and need a good mechanic who's not going to get over on me.

      @@tammiemoore5438 I’m no mechanic, just a weekend warrior. I’m sorry but mechanics do have to pay for their trade and sometimes they over charge. Usual belly noise is because they’re not tight. I got the tensioner from RockAuto.com. Maybe the belt is bigger? Do a search for reputable mechanic on your neighborhood FB pages. That’s where we found an AC guy.

    Does this eco edition use the same parts as a regular 13 malibu (belt tensioner) (serpentine belt)?

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782  10 месяцев назад +1

      No because the alternator of the regular is small. The alternator of the eco is huge to accommodate the “hybrid battery”

      @e46m3jose 10 месяцев назад

      @@arvina3782 so as far as serpentine belt and tensioner it’s different than your regular Malibu?

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782  10 месяцев назад

      You are correct. Sorry, I shouldn’t be typing to respond at 5am. I meant to say is that the alternator of the eco model is bigger than the regular Malibu that doesn’t have the hybrid battery. You’ll have to go to the auto parts store and provide them the model and they’ll give you the specific belt and tensioner that you need.

    Where did you get that clamp on spring

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782  Год назад

      I had some extra 3/4” size unistrut or super strut, I cut about an inch in length. That kept the clamp, 6” C-clamp, from sliding.

    How to compress spring if c- clamp slips

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782  Год назад

      I made a device that keeps the clamp from slipping. You can probably use a block with a V cut on one side and a straight edge on the other. I had a 3/4” unistrut and I cut that to the size of the spring and it didn’t slip on me.

      When I first replaced it, I noticed the belt wasn’t riding even on the smooth pulley of the tensioner. So that’s why I had to replace the unit. Since then, no more shredded belt

      @@bernabeleyva2086Did you replace the tensioner (check alignment carefully; there is a tool to properly torque)? Did you check the condition and rotation of the pullies (generator and AC)? Did you check the condition of the crank pulley?
      GM has a service note on breaking belts (SB-10044385-9236 which maybe has been updated).

    I just replaced my belt. Clamped it down. Put the screws in and closed the hood. Took it for a test drive and 20% of the belt is already shredded! Ugh!!!! I need help.

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782  Год назад +1

      You need to get a new belt tensioner. When I just replaced the belt, one of the pulleys is thinner. So I replaced the belt tensioner. It’s about $200 for an AC Delco. Once you have good clearance, tighten it. Mine was loose from the previous owner. You’ll have to lift the alternator, in the Eco model. You don’t have to remove it. There are 4 bolts underneath. It’s a pain to get to it.

      @@kevsip1002 easiest way to get the 2 bolts under the alternator / generator is to remove the under-body plastic cover. And I used the last 1/4” socket with extension. It’s tight, I cussed at it a few times.

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782  Год назад +1

      The belt part # A070508 (Advance Auto). The belt tensioner AC Delco 12663047 (Amazon). Install the spring after you put the belt on. Then tighten the pivot bolt on the tensioner.

      You have to remove that spring, and there’s that safety block. That safety block keeps the tensioner from pivoting more to reinstall the belt.

      @@arelliacorley8252 sorry to hear that. I’m not a mechanic, just a weekend warrior. Worst case scenario is that the generator that was used to replace was pulled from a junkyard. Best case scenario is there’s a voltage drainage that’s draining your battery- you’d have to inspect all the fuse and relay.
