So just for kicks I took out the buffer spring from the KS47 and compared it to the spring I have laying around. It was 3/4" shorter. I'll try this new buffer spring and will see how it goes.

    My 2013 Chevy Malibu eco was making a squealig noise when I brake. I had the Drive beltTensiiner-s & drive belt- s replaced. The squealing stopped for about 1 month. It rained really bad and then i noticed the squealing noise came back. I'm a woman and every mechanic I go to wants to doesn't know what to do. I took it back to the mechanic that did the belt replacements and he wants to break my engine down to find the problem. great video. i have done some extensive video watching on baffle plates. the one that got my attention was the guy that used individual steel plates approx 4-5 inches wide and about 16-17 in long. he shows how to individually adjust the gaps between each one to equal out the heat across the grates. and used a 4 probe digital thermometer to adjust them. but I'm still tossing the ideas around in my head. those plates they sell online are seriously too much money. heck i could use my stick welder and do aluminum with reverse polarity. but your way is far easier. plus its more challenging. i enjoy complicated. i have the reverse flow longhorn. the firebox opening is the same dimension as the highland. i haven't even used it yet. i already cut and welded 5/8 axles on the legs and installed 4 pneumatic tires with rims from amazon. it sure does it make it easier to move around. i don't have a deck or pad. you mentioned that dish in the end plate that the firebox bolts to. actually, they do the same to the other end as well. the reason i say this is because everyone complains about the firebox hanging at an angle like its sagging. which is what i initially thought. the firebox bolts on to the bottom which is angled down. my fix was cut out the cheap piece of sheet metal angle over the inside opening to the firebox. i bought a 1"x1"x1/4 in thick steel angle. cut it the length from the front wall and the back. bolted the angle in place where the original angle was. then just added 2 more 3/8 bolts with regular nuts not poly locknuts. each one measured 3 inches in, from the ends and bolted them through the angle and to the outside end of the smoker with washers. when the bolts are tightened it takes out the dish that was put in the end wall. which now the firebox is straight. mine is a longhorn. they do it to all the offset smokers. i found it when put a straight edge on the other end of the smoker and discovered it was dished. but not enough to tell by looking at it. resulting in fixing the problem. i was surprised so many owners didn't figure this out. the difficulty of fixing it is probably around a 4 or 5 for the average person. which with a little common sense, mechanical background and a little know how. for me it was fairly easily done. again great vid. bravo!

    • @arvina3782

      The baking pans are made of aluminum, I think they’re safe. I know galvanized metal are poisonous at higher temps.

    • @willwarro4054
      @willwarro4054 9 месяцев назад

      When heated during welding, aluminum produces a white fume mainly composed of aluminum oxide as well as ozone. Aluminum oxide is an irritant. Ozone is a toxic gas. copper can also release poisonous gas when heated at high temps. over time i have seen my cheaper alum pan bottoms become warped. but as the other commented they use it for frying pans. the melting point of aluminum is approx 1200 degrees. which takes a propane/ acetylene torch to melt it. the smoker shouldn't get any hotter than around 400 - 500 degrees. 400 for seasoning. you should be good to go.

      yeah man it's jammed in there so dann tight and while attempting to pry it out the other way I may have damaged the feed ramps in the barrel.

      Cool I got one on the way I was hoping to get a build kit but they r never in stock so I just bought the classic keymod rifle verion from tss warehouse for 850 ish it just shipped out today so I can't wait to get it I am wondering tho if k&s anti walk pins will fit on it and if the echo trigger will work or the binary trigger I don't see why it wouldnt

      Justin Campbell before you start spending lots of upgrades, make sure the mags don't bind with the bolt lugs.

    The problem with the PSA KS47 is that with any forward movement of the magazine, the feed lips will rub the bolt enough to cause stoppages. This is do to the fact that PSA's KS47 uses the front magazine latching platform of the magazine to stop upward movement of the magazine into the upper receiver...The AK47 magazine was designed to have stops in the receiver, one to each side, to stop this upward movement. This is why there is variations with some mags working and others not. This front section is of different heights and thicknesses on many magazines as the latching location is what's important. PSA's design team screwed up and didn't put magazine stops in the upper receiver...It took me an hour to find the design flaw without ever seeing one before. All they needed to do was machine magazine stops into the upper which could have been easily done with very little added machining time. Within another hour I verified that stops would not interfere with magazine insertion, bolt/carrier movement or with cartridges moving out of the magazine into the chamber. I now have JB Welded stops located just like an AK47 does, on my upper receiver. I'm an aerospace machinist and will eventually drill, ream and press fit a dowel pin in place of the JB Weld...Kinda want to see how long the JB works though, so will wait until it breaks out. I stayed on the phone waiting for a good 45mins before talking to a representative of PSA and disclosed in detail their design flaw...The person I talked with, Dave, said he would forward this info to their design team,...the team that glitched the design. This info really should be going to the top as they are losing orders with this flaw and we all know what people do when you make them look inadequate...Lets hope that doesn't happen as they did an excellent job with quality otherwise. Also, just to be precise here. They also put the front latching location in the lower receiver up a little too high and this also contributes to the bolt rubbing on the magazine feed lips. Though, this latching pin location could be the result of testing and the need for the bullet tips to impact the barrel extension feed ramps under high-speed operation...If this is the case then there wasn't much they could do with this angling of the magazine. I did notice that they also made the 2 bolt lugs which come in contact with the feed lips of the magazine thinner to reduce rubbing. That works a little, but they really needed to cut one side of each opposing lug at an angle to completely stop the rubbing...I've done mine so it's not a problem and I doubt that it weakens the lugs enough to be an issue as the angle is about .040 from the root of the lugs...Where all the shearing forces are. In closing, PSA,...for what I paid for my KS47, I shouldn't have to use JB Weld to fix your design flaws....And yes, it is a design flaw. P.S....If you do fix your error and put stops in, make sure there is a good radius, there's room, where the shelf/stop meets the receiver to give it max strength there. With a good radius, the chances of that cracking from some internet gun yahoo doing a drop test onto the magazine will be considerably less....Thought I'd add that do to your " design teams " lack of vision.

      MrDLRu very interesting. Thank you for a great analysis. I've also filled the bolt lugs that's coming in contact with the feed lips.

      The sad part of all this Arvin, is that it was all avoidable. Their design team was/is completely inept to have missed this. One can look into an AK47 receiver and see how the magazine is positioned and prevented from moving beyond its latching points...It's a no brainer...Hell, it should have been discovered in testing that there was a problem. Every KS47 they sell has this problem,..just look at all the videos and comments from people, but selling crap seems to be ok with a lot of these gun manufacturers. Kinda tired of fixing their defective products. Had a UTAS15 shotgun that had a defectively designed mono-bloc made of polymer...Luckily I was doing a personal endurance test of 1000rds. I got to about 750-800 when it broke. I was the first to discover this problem and had I not done this testing, cost was about $200 in shells, I would have had to pay for the new magnesium mono-bloc they started making as my warranty was up in 2 months. Most people aren't going to shoot that many shells through their shotguns in a year, so they all got ripped off and will have to pay to get it fixed when it finally breaks...On a $450(dealer cost) shotgun most paid $1000 plus for. So, they knew it was defective yet were selling the gun to the public...Pathetic shit and why I've posted on other KS47 reviews the same info I posted here.

      MrDLRu thank you. I saw the upward movement of the magazine into the upper. You're right, it still binds if the mag moves. Another point, I compared the BCG with a regular AR-15. The AR-15 bolt carrier and the bolt lugs on the 4 o'clock and 7 o'clock (making contact with the mag lips) are flush with the ruler. The KS47 BCG, the carrier and the bolt lugs are not flush. I wish I can take a pic. That's why I filed the bolt lugs on the KS-47 so it's flush and not binding with the mag feed lips.

      MrDLRu after 1000, my KS47 didn't bind now. But I agree, PSA should redraw and not mill as much to add a stop for the mags not to travel much. It's like 2mm of steel that they took out that never should have been. Also the bolt lugs.

      The bolts are done on a live tooling lathe or Swiss machine. Machining the angles that you and I had put on the lugs, to make it right, would take no time at all...Look up Swiss CNC AR15 Bolt Demo and have a look....Those Swiss machines are NICE,..never worked on one though. Yeah,...It would be a GTG rifle if they fix those two issues. Overall, the quality of both the upper and lower is very good...Mine fit together tight, but fixing it at this point does little for me. Believe it or not, there is actually no need for the Enhanced firing pin. All that was needed was to take .015 -.020 off the tail of the bolt and put a different, steeper, angled cut inside the bolt firing pin hole at the backside of the bolt face wall...There's the .020 needed for the .050 - .060 firing pin protrusion, needed for 7.62x39 combloc ammo, using standard length firing pins. I've already proven it out and it works...I have 2 regular AR's in 7.62x39 with this modification to the bolts.

    PMAG changed the angle of the front latching platform on their AK47 mags. The new all polymer mags have the same latch angle as the steel reinforced mags. My Gen1's are of the old angle and have very little movement, up and down, at the front. Do your Gen2 mags have any upward movement once locked in place?

    • @arvina3782
      @arvina3782 8 лет назад

      MrDLRu I have the gen 1's and a couple of Korean steel mags. I had to file the feed lips of the steel mags.

    • @MrDLRu
      @MrDLRu 8 лет назад

      From what I can see from your video, you have the Gen2's as they are the same as the steel reinforced version....See how long the angle(front latching platform) is on yours? Mine are half that length and match the angle they put in the upper receiver to hold the front of the magazine from moving upward.

    Thank you for the video. I just put my KS 47 together and have clearance issues with my Pmags vs bolt, my metal mag is fine, and knew I was going to have to file the magazine feed lips down; thanks to your video I know where and exactly how much to file. Thanks again for the time saver.
