Despite having high SFI, something else was happening and even at 100w Shane wasn't making the right amount of contacts. Sometimes even good conditions aren't good enough.

The struggle was real that day, but we made it part of the fun. Never a bad time playing radio in a park. Especially with friends.

I went out Friday evening and Saturday morning and had the very same problem. I couldn't find anybody. Then I found out there was a solar flare. Fortunately I got my four on each Peak. Happy hunting!

Same experience for me the other day but I still had fun too
When I do QRP in Houston, I noticed that at least 50% of my contact are the same repeats, the guys with yagi's (I also noticed it on some of the big CW POTA channels). I decided to go to 30w CW and I started get a lot more contacts and most were new call signs. When I tried hunting with my vertical dipole at home, I can only hear 1 out of maybe 200 activators CW. I have come to believe that QRP is limiting POTA's growth and may cause problems as the "old" hams with yagi's go silent (no hunters, no POTA).
I hear what you're saying - but how about the current generation of activators is going to age into shacks with yagis - We all get older.

SMARTEST thing you did a couple times when it was weak was going with just one park number....good call! For others, don't fret if you don't get a park number for P2P...you'll get credit for a single park automatically when POTA resolves the contacts. CW ops rarely exchange park numbers and get P2P credit everytime.
Yeah, its all handled on the back end - doesn't need to be said on the air but people do it. Technically a X-fer counts as X contacts in the hunters log so the other P2P would know they were done sooner... but 1-2 extra lines in the log isn't going to make an activation... let it all get sorted out later.
I had a similar experience on 10m last Sat 4/27 from Bastrop State Park. Got the activation but it was a struggle. 73's from KI5PRK

If this was the afternoon of May 2nd, it was brutal propagation here in ONS. After 2.5 hrs of calling CQ POTA and hunting on 20, 40, switching antennas, and a few other bands, I only managed 7 in the log! Another day it’ll be better. VA3MZD
This was 4/21... but conditions have been bad here recently. Sometimes "its not you, its them"

nice antenna . bands have been bad at times. even in NY . lots of QSB. their was 2 solar flairs in same day. 10 and 12 meters not so good. 1 contact on FT8 10 meters at 400 watt. getting my ferrite quite warm . 15 meters was little better. I cut a wire for 17 meters and did not try yet. using end fed mono band as veritable with ground plain . 49:1 UNUN with 2 stack FT 240-61. 10 meter DX commander pole. using speaker wire to test then I use DX 50 or DX 10 wire. I cut wire for 20 meters but to long for veritable on 10 meter pole. buy just a tad. will try fold back like 40 meter wire on DX commander. I got extra tubbing . now their is a working miniature DX commander antenna. 2 meter and 70 CM . on Lord Callum's you tube channel now. he just posted that video . 73's
I saw that, it was pretty awesome. See if you can find Mike M0MSN's video on how they grow those dx commanders.

There was a Canada QSO party thing and the Rookie Roundup... the two DX stations I heard had put their radios on auto-CQ and took a nap. Not enough space between auto-call to actually respond, even if I had an amp.
High electron density and thin altitudinal thickness always comes in handy, when it comes,Great contacts, tnx Man!

Was this from yesterday? It was really weird yesterday for propagation. I think i found a signal counting down in all the noise as it singed off the tic tac craft flying around me. Theyre coming for us. Anyone have will Smith's telephone number?
4/21 Was the date of this activation. Propagation has been really weird lately - High SFI should be awesome, but... its not.
Yeah yesterday my activation people were in and out even on CW. I could hear them clearly, when I sent their callsign back it was like they disappeared completely. After a couple contacts the person reappeared just as if they never left and we picked back up. Also randomly, just like your video, people appeared out of nowhere on my frequency. Sometimes I would just work them and they had no idea I was doing pota there for an hr...then they would disappear.
Kp index was almost 7 yesterday afternoon. That would explain it.
