Glad you shared the Banggood link Fred! ebay and amazon want over £40 for the same antenna. CB/HAM Antennas don't have to be expensive to work well as you've shown 👍
You can make this out of coax cable, crossed over at the top (outer to inner) with a binocular toroid opposite, for cheaper than Banggood. I have mine inside a hula hoop with a round electrical junction box in the centre. It works much, much better shoved out the window. I'd recommend that you use it with an SDR like the Airspy HF+ Discovery which has a higher dynamic range than RTL-SDRs.
You get what you pay for. The Airspy HF+ Discovery is a VERY good SDR receiver, and the addition of their Spyverter is a very worthwhile investment. Having said this, I also use the RTL-SDR dongle with a lap-top when on holiday, and this amplified loop antenna is really excellent (since the average discone isn't really "portable"😀)
These are good antennas without the amplifier, and the cable appears to be SS402, which is supposed to be better for HF than RG316; the amp is a worthwhile investment though, and if you want to use this as a permanent installation it's not difficult to find a pair of junction boxes, with suitably sized waterproof unions, and a plastic hula hoop to provide a much better circular antenna. Incidentally, I've created a pretty OK long line using a 6:1 balun, and lengths of fibreglass - braided electric fence "wire", which I can get from the local farm store for an excellent price (and which are obviously really weather - tolerant!)
Nice video Fred 👍🏼 Had one of these for about 3 years and got some good results with it indoors. It’s directional which is good for MWDX as you can null out other stations on the same frequency. It picks up surprisingly decent on Airband as well, a bit of an all-rounder that’s well worth buying if you are on a tight budget. 73 Franco

it's Fred, but most write frid so now for me it's "FRIEND in the shed" that share experience... so let me say i've buy this antenna, it's far better then a telescopic whip for noise reduction(when find best windows) and GOOD solution for my 2 wspr (zachtek and sotabeam) .

Hi Fred...bit of an old post reply..the noise you tried to find the cure for some time ago I am pretty certain it's a russian jammer intermittently being transmitted on certain CB frequency...just disconnect your antenna and see if goes ... sometime it on 555 other time it's 305 ... Regards Mac

No i did not track it down to the exact house but we had a strong smoking weed smell from a certain house near us. When that did eventually stop (ages) so did the PLT noise. Never came back.

The MLA-30+ Is by far the best investment for your money at ~$30 for 0-30MHZ receiving, whether in rural areas or indoor receiving in an apartment in a city.
I recently purchased and received the LZ1AQ magnetic loop antenna, for about $US 34.95 plus about $US 5.00 for shipping. However, I ordered it from Banggood on January 8 2024, and it took almost 2 months to reach me here. I find some of the same items at Amazon, which is quicker to ship here, but the price maybe more. 😊

I bought this after seeing your video and it's reduced the noise floor substantially.

Good stuff. Hope you had a nice weekend Greg.
I´m very happy with this antenna and works quiet well with XHDATA D808 🙂(without pre amp!)
Good to hear
Thanks for your tests. I'm waiting for one I recently bought 😊. 73
Morning Fred. I'm sure your jingle is very similar as Eric's from Farpoint Farms videos. Lol. Hope all is well.

Hi. I used the Youloop on a recent out door test and it really reduced local QRM noise.

I would get a cheap LNA which will work well with this loop.

You know there have been some very strange SW signals coming out of Russia. My noise i think was coming from a small scale weed farm.

Consider supporting a real YouLoop with a purchase and not a knockoff
But why. Would it really perform better. Where do you thing the real YouLoop is made ?
The original magloop has a variable tunnig capacitor that tune the loop for desire working frequency.
