Little Britain wasn't actually cancelled at the time, it was very popular and had three seasons and various specials, but it's normal for British comedy series to run for a much shorter time period than American ones. In the UK, they tend to end TV series while they are still on a high, rather than just keep making them until most people stop watching. Little Britain's "cancellation" came many years later when it was removed from streaming services, but it's now been reinstated but with certain sketches removed or re-edited.
The was removed from all streaming platforms globally due to the mean spirited racism in the show. Even the creators admitted the show had racism and apologised for their ignorance at the time. And the terrible thing the show was really popular in Britain with white people due to racist jokes to minorities. They have uploaded sketches to RUclips but removed all the racism sketches.

People liked it because it was funny stereo types of british and non British, funny how you can mock any class in Britain but not if they have slightly brown skin 😂 pathetic. Vicki Pollard is basically a character with a working class Bristol accent, which is in the South West of England.
Little Britain was never banned or cancelled, it just ended (though many years later some streaming services temporarily removed it).

The thing is with this show, it was actually more inclusive than whatever we have in society now. It poked fun at everyone, no one protected and it worked. Oviously there probably were some people offended, but for the most part the gay and straight communites enjoyed it. I had a mate who I thought would not find it funny, he had a rough life coming to terms with his sexuality. So I was concerned, but he was roaring with laughter. People were not as offended then, you could have conversations.
The show gets even better , lots of other disgustingly good characters 😂😂

The league of gentlemen was a very dark series that just got darker as it went along. Has recieved some fair share of controversy but i wouldn't say it's as on the nose with the racism as little britain. It did really pioneer the idea of horror comedy though

I don’t think it was ever banned? They moved in to other projects mainly ( there has been talk about a new season or special actually ), ofcourse some sketches have aged better than others but it’s still hilarious

They ran from 2003 to 2006. In 2020 they were removed from most streaming platforms because they performed in blackface.
It was one of my favourite shows despite that faux pas. Comedy is supposed to push boundaries, and they sometimes took a 747 over the line...lol.
The best thing about the show was it ignored the _line_
The fact that it was banned/altered for blackface but not the other _offensive_ moments shows the sheer hypocrisy of political correctness/wokeism.
Some bits are dated and some of the sketches weren't funny, but I never thought "this show is offensive it should be changed or banned".
We're living in a decline in intelligence and values.
@@Greenstumps Black face has always been offensive that's why Matt Lucas chose to use it as a comedic device. I agree that tolerance for such things has declined over the last decade but don't pretend blackface was a bit of harmless fun before we adopted cancel culture.

It was a phrase was created by black people to mean know your black history and be aware of subtle racism, and extreme white right wing have tried to co-opt to the word woke to mean anything white people don’t like to undermine it’s true meaning. The show was erased not just because of blackface but due to the many mean spirited racist jokes mocking minorities. They makers thought they could get away with racist sketches, by claiming it was ironic racism. The creators and writers apologised for the racism in the show and admitted they were ignorant not realise how racist minorities many of their jokes were. The sad thing is the show was popular with British white people due to the racism in the show.
@@samhilton4173it is not really for white people to tell people of colour what they should be offended by, given most white people are very ignorant on racial issues. Even the makers of the show admitted the show was racist and apologised for their ignorance as white people for thinking these racist jokes were acceptable.
nobody found it racist in the 00s the 90s kids grew up watching it including me everyone quoted it at school nobody was offended but it was pre social media and smart phones nobody got triggered and had an opinion back then

Little Britain wasn't cancelled most shows over here have a lot less seasons and episodes cos we know to end things while they're still good where as in America shows get dragged out till they are long passed stale.
Check out some of our comedians. Micky Flannagan's Delhi Belly is a good one to start you off. He is from the East end of London so is what we call a cockney over here.
Short lived? Wasn't it like 3 seasons and a spin-off where they do "Little Brittain in America?".

This was a good introduction teaser to this funny program. They poke fun up to and over the line of comfort, which makes it even funnier, as they are not doing it maliciously, but just the human ridiculousness of situations and cultures.
That fat meeting leader is so racist that it is absurd. There is more to that whole skit - its really funny.

Guys just to warn you little Britain is the gateway drug to watching "league of gentlemen", it gets you used to insanity and the weirdness of dark british hunmour just enough to handle League of gentlemen, a comedy so dark and smart its on garth merenghi darkside level of creepy and funny. but be warned if you do watch league of gentlemen 2 out of 5 of you WILL lose their minds lol

Was the show banned? I thought the creators went on to do other projects and then later decided their values were no longer aligned with some of the characters.
