I must say. The base trim level interiors have gotten much nicer looking. You used to have to get a higher trim level XLT to get a lot of these features.
Totally agree! STX has really been a phenomenal package since about 2013. The big bummer to me though is the lack of a power seat. I do not understand why you cannot get a freaking power seat for driver and passenger and you're stuck with a manual otherwise. Everything else is perfect about it
It also costs about as much as a lariat did 3 years ago

The 2.7L ecoboost is a VERY FUEL EFFECIENT ENGINE. The catch is once you feel how quick those turbos spool up, the smiles per mile go way up and the fuel economy takes a hit. I have a habit of putting in sport mode on the on ramp.
The absolute best thing about this truck….that column shifter. I hate the shifter being moved to center console. That should be reserved for cars and suvs, not trucks.
This is a cool package that doesn’t have all the nonsense like higher trims.

I have a 2022 f150 302A package. I haven’t had a new truck in 20 years and it’s got features I haven’t even been able to get to yet!! Lol..I can pretty much do everything from my phone. I can even set daily start up times before I get out of bed!! I have the power down tailgate but not power up tailgate. It’s like one step below the lariat. Sunroof is cool to but I never use it!! The bed lights and power outlets are cool.
I got my 2019 Stx for $43k out the door and mine came with a good tonneau cover and the 5.0. Crazy.
just picked up a new 2023 XL 4x4, supercab, STX, 2.7 with 3.55 axle, 20 inch wheels, 41k after year-end rebates, very happy.
The 2021-2023 STX’s are all you could ask for in a truck! Really impressive compared to lower trim level trucks of the past. Blows the SLE and LT GM’s away

I totally agree with what you said, you beat me to it. $10k overpriced, but most things are right now. When the free market system resets, then it'll be more affordable as with most things. And yes it will reset, that's a given.
Greed isn't going anywhere. Everything is about record profit. As consumers, as long as we buy products, prices will keep going up. Capitalism is the best, but we are in dark days...
@@paulschab8152 agree. It will be hard for companies that are used to this profit margin to drop prices. Maybe if their competitors really need sales and are willing to forfeit margins you may see a mild decline.

Just bought my 2023 STX came with a 5.0. Has a bench seat in front of it I like it better. Wife can sit next to me. Have a tow package with electric breaks. Step in the tailgate work lights and tie hooks in bed. Have a large screen in dash. Bought luckman seat covers for 250 and put them on and they look like custom seats. Very snug fit on the covers, no movement in them and look great. Get 17 mpg around town got 22 going to Gatlinburg from ga trough Cherokee. Through the mountains for those no familiar with the area.
I just picked up a 2022 STX with. 6.5” bed and 3.5 with 24k miles on it for $37k in Oregon. Love it, it looks good and drives awesome. It’s my first truck and glad I got the longer bed for all the camping and fishing our family does.
I'd get a Ford f150 with the heavy duty payload package and max tow. Then add tow mirrors. 6.5' bed, captain chairs, and 4x4 with the 5.0 v8.
Similar to this in build and price but way more functional. 2400 lbs payload 13,800 towing.
Just boggles my mind that a similarly spec'd truck that I bought in 2011 for just under 30k, now costs 50k. Unbelievable how these prices just shot up.
12 years 3-4 percent inflation average, I just looked at a better model for 47K that’s about on point
No $3000 tailights, $1000 headlights, no $1000 infoscreen, no $15,000 high tech driveline with no standard trans option.
Even though I just purchased a 502a F150 Lariat Powerboost in the same color, I must say, this truck still looks good to me. I really like those wheels. Just the interior was too basic for me and I like LED’s as well.
That back floor is also perfect for putting a small mattress and sleeping 😴. Didn’t notice how flat the back floor is when you fold the seats upwards.
Just ordered this same truck just with the black out package, can not wait!
My XLT 2021 is very well equipped with max tow package and has a payload of 1804 pounds with the 5.0 V8. As part of the deal, the dealer put in a leather material over the cloth, because we can't get pet hair out of cloth. It tends to stick in the cloth. I believe the large ecoboost 3.5 would add another 50 to 100 pounds. I was doing good just to get this during truck month in 2021. I just wished it had the tailgate step and was the long bed.
Please provide your audience with one of the MOST Important benchmark data points for EVERY vehicle you review by including a brief clip of the door stickers showing payload, weight and tire information .
I just purchased a 2023 F150 STX. Not all the 23 STX trucks come with a console. Mine doesn't have it unfortunately but it was a really good deal.
My 2022 F350 XLT 7.4 with basically every option and 4x4 cost $67,000. I did a special order and took 7 month wait. That price was MSRP, taxes and a tire warranty
If your going to do any off roading get the old fashioned tube step. The flat might look better but wont take any abuse at all.
I have a 2020 STX, paid 45,000$ plus 5K chicago tax brand new, I looked at the 2021 models a year later for the hell of it an they were marked up 8500$ more. Really happy I bought mines in 2020, I love me truck. But these markups on new cars atm are insane.
To give you an idea of how much prices have increased... I bought a 2021 XLT in March of 2021 for less than this one, and it has the led headlights, 12-inch infotainment screen with Nav and Sirius xm, power sliding rear window, 20 inch rims, co-pilot 360 with the 360 degree camera views, automatic climate control....etc....etc.... the msrp was right around $55,000 and the dealer knocked off 3 grand plus a few other incentives brought me under 50 grand. It's the best F150 I've ever owned. (I've owned a lot)
I have an XL model F150 now and I love not having carpet, I use my truck as trucks weren’t meant to be used, it gets dirty etc…. I like this truck you’ve featured, hopefully my next truck will be another XL model but I’ll try to get one with the Powerboost engine and the 7.2 kw pro power option. Maybe in a few years I’ll find a decent priced used one. Thanks for another great video

Drop the eco boost and the 20" rims, add the 5.0V8 and it is a nice truck! Pretty expensive though still.

I have a chevy 2022 1500 custom 4x4was 47000 decent options but the cargo is 1835 and tows 900 with the 2..7 engin

I looked at the STX but went drove a Silverado 2020 model Z71 it came with a V8 heated seats heated steering wheel remote start Led headlights i went with the new Silverado and still gets 22 23 mpg on the highway
Prices are becoming astronomical. Paid $54k for my 2022 well equipped XLT 302A 2.7 one year ago
Lots to love with the STX. Attractive exterior with no chrome, color matched bumpers, and plenty of tech. I bought mine new 4 years ago. Magma Red, 3.5L ecoboost, SuperCrew, 4x4, 3:55 locking rear diff. 1852lbs payload capacity and rated to tow 12,700lbs. Equipped with max tow pkg that gives a 36 gallon fuel tank, brake controller, and class IV receiver hitch rated for 1320lbs with WD hitch. I searched all dealer inventory within 500 miles of east Texas but couldn't find any with the 3.5L ecoboost that I needed. Finally found the truck on a dealer's lot in Chicago. Flew north, signed the deal and drove 13hrs home. Put 1,000 miles on the truck the same day I bought it which completed the break-in period Ford recommends before towing. FWIW, step bars are very simple to install as Ford already has threaded studs installed on the truck ready to bolt the step bars to. I also replaced the exterior mirrors with extendable towing mirrors. In the past 4 years, I have towed our 34ft travel trailer more than 18K miles including our latest trip to Colorado over Wolf Creek Pass at 11,000ft elevation. This truck tows like a beast and never struggles with our current setup. 10.5mpg towing and 19.0mpg unloaded. I paid $39.5K for this truck new with 7 miles on the odometer in December 2018.
So, about 30k less than today’s prices
@@Savvynomad225 in 2017 I was after a STX with lots of options and if my memory serves me right it was 475 dollars a month over 72 months, I just got quoted nearly double that for one today.
@@scrogathon I think buying a car right now is risky. It’s practically guaranteed that prices will fall by the end of this year. Getting into one at today’s prices will be a regret unless you must because of circumstances…in which case, maybe just get a beater for the interim…
Perfect review, except for the Door Capacity Sticker! As much as you talk capacities….you’d think that would be mandatory. A great towed behind a super C or Class A.

I need a new truck to tow my camper and the STX is probably what I'll get. I do have say I am a little surprised that any new vehicle in 2023 would still be reliant on a physical key.
I can even use the app to make sure that my truck starts up at the specific time

Just bought a 2023 F150 STX from auto nation that I'll be reviewing as well... I am no a fan of the center console or the quad cab... I like having some kind of bed and center consoles dont belong in truck imho

Can't raise drivers seat up in year 2023. No slide cabin rear window. Ford must hire psychologists as method of pushing customers into a higher trim level.
Buy it used and save yourself some serious money. No sense to buy new at these outrageous prices especially when these trucks are well built and still will look like new and run as new as it did the day it left the dealers lot. You'd think at these prices Ford would offer power seats and LED lighting standard but hey if people keep spending ridiculous money for things then why would any business lower their prices? High demand and low inventory equals high price, Low demand and high inventory equals lower price, economics 101.
I don't know anyone who wants running boards besides old heavy people. If you need the "function" then I get it but they look terrible.

@@MrJamesLuz OK, so they need the function. He suggested that most people would opt for them and I disagree. I know one guy (heavy and older) that has them. The kids climb right up in there in my experience. If they are infants or toddlers you'll be picking them up and putting them into anything you drive regardless.
I get there's people who need them yea. Me personally I remove the running boards if the truck comes with them I tend to trip over them (my luck). Now those power running boards are Also a joke I work at a dealership and 99% of the time I'm in the truck before the running boards even deploy. But they nice to have if the veh us lifted
That truck looks cheap inside and out
This truck is boring, it has way too many doors, everyone has these.
The problem with led headlights from the factory is they are built into the housing, no bulbs. Unlike with a halogen headlight which you can swap out a $10 bulb. You'd have the replace the entire headlight housing on an led one, hundreds of dollars.
At the 50K price point this kills the Silverado feature for feature. Just drove both back to back today. The XL STX does not feel low spec where the Chev really does.
An STX costing $54k is criminal. Can’t wait for dealers/OEMs to eat these prices.

@@Litboge I understand inflation. Regardless the truck is not worth 52k and what makes it worse is possibly having to pay MSRP. Where I live pre-covid you could get 12-16k off MSRP. If it gets back to this then it makes it more palatable.

I have been a Ford owner since 1990 after this video with the price I am convinced I can never buy a new 502 A package again and won't buy a lesser truck, so now I'll buy a Ram or Chevy and maybe a Tundra, Ford needs to get the prices down.

@@matthewhuszarik4173 I know when the first thing you do when you get into office is shut down our pipeline that was in use to keep our fuel prices down, then start buying fuel from overseas again, means that the raise in the economy started off basic from the bottom anytime fuel goes up the price of anything being delivered goes up drastically. So yea that’s basic economics, he screwed up. As soon as he did that I said yup few years of inflation now
Let me get this straight....auto start stop..not installed on this model, but were going to charge you for removing what was not installed. I have got to come up with a racket like that.

I remember a video a few years ago when you built a stripped down Ram diesel that came to $50k. The late model base trim vehicles have more bells and whistles then my 03 F150 XLT.
Why not go over the towing and capacity numbers? This truck is surprisingly capable and you might have highlighted that.

I have a 2018 STX super crew 4x4. The neatest thing about an STX is even though they are not inexpensive trucks, they look like they cost more than they do.
I like the look but base prices have skyrocketed so at 50k the STX doesn't bring the value it once did.
I wish it was possible to order a base model XL with a Raptor R package.

For me I buy what is best for me. I have a new truck and loyal to FORD.
I honestly really wish Ford would let you get an STX with the Powerboost, because it's either have a very basic XL (which I know some prefer just not me), or you have to get an XLT.

For the same price you can get a Nissan Titan in the Pro4x package with a spray in bed liner, LED and auto dim headlights, off road suspension, higher towing capacity, a super reliable V8 engine, leather interior, and a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty. And you will only have to do routine maintenance like changing the oil, unlike Ford, where your truck will be in the shop more than your driveway.
