what is funny is that the suits that pushed the project likely will be fine as they throw the devs and writers under the bus.
It's great to be a boss nowadays... you don't take any blame, you get payed way more than the common plebs doing all the work and you don't even need to be competent as long as your dad is friends with a higher-up and you get nepo-hired
Yeah I have the creeping suspicion this will be one of those watershed games that creates a bunch of executives taking all the wrong lessons away from a $150 million bomb. Somehow it's going to lead to doubling down on higher budgets, canceling smaller games, and crunching staff harder.
Well, considering this dev attacking anyone criticizing the game, I don't think the devs where just doing what the suits said, they had a lot of input themselves. Pretending that the only thing holding this game back is the price is delusional.
The whole ass industry is ruled by old fucks who don't even game or give a shit about it, R* ceo is an ex casino manager

It’s crazy to me that Charlie didn’t once mention the atrocious character design that was also a huge reason that people avoided the game,
Because it's not the reason why the game failed. I don't even think the character designs are particularly "bad". I think some of them even look cool like Jabali.
Concord is wild to me because it looks like they took all the worst things about hero shooters and then doubled down on it. The locked off characters, the forced competitive scene, the generic art style, everything feels like it was built to be as by the book as they come. If they'd gone the entire other direction and simply made it a wild fast paced goofy fps cartoon kinda like tf2. you might have had a small chance at appealing to a different set of players who prefer arena shooters with some team based elements.

These people took 8 years making a game in a genre that went stale 5 years ago. That genre being hero shooters, games which live or die by how fun and interesting the characters are. And then populated it with heroes that are boring looking, uninteresting to play, and generic in personality and vernacular. Unoffensive, on purpose, so they appeal to everyone everywhere.
And for it, they have managed a game which isn't capable of entertaining a high school gymnasium worth of people, and is appealing to nearly nobody, nowhere.
Its a genre with 2 good games and everything else is a flop that either failed to replicate one of the two or was just so bland no one was interested.
