It’s very true, I think those cars used to move around a bit more within their own axis with the grooved tyres and less complex aero which did give a much greater sense of speed. The cars now are like trains, they’re either on rails or off the road there’s no real in between
Smaller, much lighter cars 600kg with the driver. They are over 750kg now. They were more nimble and "edgier". Suspension has come along way since then too though. Camera angle makes a difference too.

This is NOT the legendary Q1 lap Kimi did. This is a very conservative second quali session lap which was a banker lap.
mclaren kimi was very very fast :)
