- Springboks rugby icon Bob Skinstad - who played for the South African side from 1997-2007 and was a Rugby World Cup winner - joins Martin Devlin on Its Only Sport, previewing the first match-up between the Boks and All Blacks in Johannesburg this weekend. The old rivals have played seven times over the last three years, with South Africa winning four of them including the 2023 World Cup final in Paris.
Skinstad and Devlin discuss the excitement that is building around the test in South Africa, the form of the Springboks and how coach Rassie Erasmus continues to improve the team, how the All Blacks have looked so far in 2024, and more.

Skinstad is an awesome analyst. He was a ferocious Bok too. Love him 👊😎
Bobby! what a legend!!
Skinstad, Mallett and Burger are SAs best rugby analysts and they all come across this week cautiously optimistic. These games can go both ways and EP specifically suits the ABs running style.
I actually rate Swys a lot... yes his command of English is not great but gee does he offer proper technical analysis...mixed with his own brand of old school philosophy/humour😂
Lood DeJaager (dodgy spelling) is the next great pundit, he was awesome in the Boks Office

Great words Bobby
ABs will be fierce. No South African takes them lightly.
Appreciate that bro. You guys look insanely good. Much respect and good game 🫡
We will give it a good crack no doubt but we are missing alot of experience up front. Nothing like being thrown in at the deep end for our forward pack.
Bob Skinstad must have been a hell of a captain in his days. Listening to him talk makes me want to go out there and play. What a great man.
Enough talking lets do it ✊️🖤
You know nothing about rugby remember
@@MegaTkls Your mum knows nothing
Can't wait for Saturday!
@willn3857 Not as much as me I can't wait wait 😄 I have whisky and ice 2hrs before the game get smashed and then watch in awe as the blacks beat the boks and cheer and yell ✊️
Brilliant comments from Bobby, we can't win all games straight away
Wow nice interview, AS a SA WHO FAN AB AND SADERS Have same fielings
Nice Bob..
Its going to be interesting. I think the Boks are going to run at the All Blacks too. I think it might be around a 70 point game.
The difference is on the bench where as Sonny Bill Williams called them the 'Nuclear Bomb Squad" will come and smash the ABs who do not have the same quality bench.
DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE!!! SPRINGBOK v AB is ALWAYS Tight!!! That's WHY The Rivalry is there!!! All 103 years of Bruttally and Skill!!!

All Blacks only problem, is a 3rd and 4th lock, that is it, but that coach will solve it. He knows what to do. ( Saying this Scott Barret and Sam Darry is the pair I like most )
That pressure on all black coaches to win everytime is detrimental to growing players. To think that Billy Proctor hasnt had a run out in the championship says it all. Turning up to play Argentina in the first game thinking "webeat them up 44-6" in the world cup also shows the lack of concentration in the team at times . One hopes Scott Robertson will experiment a bit more aagainst Australia.
False narratives: Why and how are the ABs considered the more settled side, when they lost at home just one game ago? 5 out our 7 Backline players are experienced, and the 2 newbies are in great form. It is not a foregone conclusion that our lock issues will be our achilles heel in this test, because the ABs have been shying away from using the scrums and lineouts, as the foundation of their attack for a while now. Out of the 3 locks that the ABs will announce, only one can be considered to have international experience, and none of them have ever played at Ellis Park, so they are essentiallyin the same boat as us. I would go on, but this is starting to sound slightly panicky 😂😂😂😂
ABs scrum is arguably the second best in the world. Held up in the final with a forward down. Even put big pressure on the Boks late in the game. Some say it should've earnt a penalty.
Springboks should not Panic
Open Srum and pass not kick ..Use Wings wisely and Defend wings ..No 10 not the Only player
When the pressure comes on South Africa will return to there traditional game. All this talk about the South African expansive innovation is not really going to happen under the blow torch when the pressure is on but if South Africa can get penalties & kick to the corner they will probably score maul tries and beat the ABs. If the ABs stay disciplined and can play expansive without fear with a good kicking game when needed they will probably win. This is the way it has always been.
Really, then why are Sacha and Fassi selected ahead of Pollard and le Roux?
@@ericquan9598 When the pressure comes on Pollard will come on as well
South Africans really talking this up, they will miss their best locks, and have a potentially panicky backline, we may surprise
Confidence doesn't institute arrogance mate.. we have every right to feel confident given the layered game plan we now have... those chinks (aimless kicking, conditioning, passengers) have been ironed out. Everyone talks of the 2nd Ireland game but don't look at what actually happened that day with Faf making stupid decisions all game long. Let's put it this way: Abs are going to have to go to a very, very dark place for this W
Yeah some on social media might, but believe me the vast majority are not overly confident, especially with the locks out and a very young backline.
Respect to the ABs from Springbok fan. Eben will play this weekend.
Never heard old mate ever say one positive thing about South African rugby ………….grow up ! Your insecurities are fairly obvious ! 😮
As a South African I am worried after seeing our team. ABs seem to ascribe more meaning to Ellis Park than we do! Hardly a fortress for us. Just another ground.
I wouldn't trust a coach that does Raygun on the pitch in front of both teams !
Brilliant. 😂😂
I wouldn't trust a commenter who places more emphasis on a coach's dancing skills than his coaching skills!
AB will take 1st test. Rassie is getting a bit arrogant, thinking he can pick anyone at this stage and beat any team...but the AB's isn't any team. Silver lining - you learn more from a loss than a win...
Perhaps you are thinking of previous great All Blacks teams but this current one is not there yet.
All blacks out think the boks.
Skinskad is a kaktalker. Will be nothing like Ireland tests. Completely different team
you are a kaklistener. drink your rum and coke
Jfc, Skinny is so kak at interviews. Make some bold claims, throw some banter, have a bit of fun boet. Feels like listening to an effing press conference.
Bob Skinstad was not a star rugbyplayer and he still like to be part of the Bok set-up. Fortunately we dont want him. The All Blacks are going to be thrashed by the Springboks again. Martin Devlin you will never find the recipe from Bob Skinskad. Bob will never be part of our set-up .He is a outsider and will never be part of SA rugby . You All Blacks cs have him for free
Ou Blou Bul...

What an idiot, 🤡🤡🤡🤡. I apologise for all South African's
Give him respect like Rassie does in his biography
