I love the story arc about Ivo and his father. It's not a story about perfect family, it has some melancholic vibe to it too. But what makes it so heartwarming is that this family goes through hardships together. The father tries his best to understand Ivo even though they have different mentalities, and Ivo tries too, even though he struggles with pretty much every activity his dad comes up with. Feels good that we don't need some Hollywood-level films to see good writing and emerging stories

Hollywood has always stolen scripts and ideas without giving an ounce of credit to the original authors, just like Disney made itself rich by using public domain IPs like the Brothers Grimm stories and goes out of its way to sue anyone that uses theirs, even kindergartens aren't safe from their lawyers.

The most underrated part was the mother saying "you've never been camping" and the father response being he's been camping on a high school trip this just shows even the father is out of his element too but kind of mimicking this to help his son "be a man" but even then the father didn't know little things like you need a fishing license and etc. The father was trying to act like how his father acted towards him to his own son

The father is showing him another thing how to be a Man. It is not about to be profiecient at everything, it is about heading straight into unknown without fear and always strive to learn new things. Also at the end there is nice example how to be a woman and keeping manliness in check :p

I like how it's not that "X is better than Y" talk, but rather a view from both sides, it shows the characters' relationships without feeling forced or contrived, you see that both have flaws and qualities, the father is not shown as a "boring Boomer who thinks everything is worse" as in other videos, but a person who cares about his son and wants to see him better, and the son is not shown as simply "Gen Z kid who hates nature and doesn't want to stay with his parents", but a young person who doesn't 100% understand how things work and wants to keep up with his parents, and even though he has difficulties, he wants to improve and impress his father, as when he tries to catch a rabbit and worries about his father's state after the accident.

Gen X is a strange contradiction. Most have an obsession with competency, and can be very stubborn. Others, like in this video, are just trying their best to hang on to what little is left of the American dream. Millennials are the ugly ducklings and Gen Z has no idea what their purpose is, but they don't really care because they've witnessed what happens to millennials who try to meet Gen X's high expectations.continues
I remember when everyone used facebook and it worked well, but only because it was an enhancement to healthy social life. Seems like more "developed" areas are losing what could have been thriving social communities. Try having authenticity if you're broke and lost in life... the worst part is most people don't even notice the changes. If we don't sacrifice ignorance, comfort and traditionalism in order to re-learn sincerity, trust, and genuine human connection, we'll continue down this fast track to nowhere until it's too late.

I appreciate that the dad has to learn his own masculinity too. I've gotten the impression that this saga is more about accepting yourself and trying to be the best man you can be, not caring about whether that be a feminine or masculine trait. You don't need to be some macho tough guy to be a good dad, and your son doesn't need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger mixed with Tyler Durden for you to be proud of him, you just gotta make the effort to always be there for your kids.
For some guys, when they hear the words "toxic masculinity", they immediately think of over-obsessive feminists who genuinely just hate the male sex. But to those guys who think toxic masculinity isn't real because of that, toxic masculinity is just when you start hurting others and yourself in pursuit of "being a man". A lot of us have dads like that, who go around starting fights, objectifying women or gaining an obsession with thinking of themselves as some kind of alpha male. I can say from experience that your sons will grow to hate you and may even start hating their own masculinity if you act like that.
Just be a good person. Not a self-conscious, overly aggressive, hyper-sexual bully. It'll get you way closer to being a real man than taking steroids or being a "player" ever could. Go to work because your family needs you to, control your emotions so that situations don't escalate and never interrupt your children's lives, only add to them.

His methods were at times questionable but they disciplined me. I seen my friends playing video games, playing with legos, all I got were rides to and from wrestling practice and a screaming session while doing homework, suffice to say I miss those days. Now as a 19 year old I look at myself, my discipline, my strength, my mentality, on the contrary my friends are unemployed, living with their parents, still doing fairly immature things. I’m thankful I was raised by my father, he hard on me, but he loved me, and my mother was and still is as gentle as a butterfly. It was a perfect balance

Lately I've been online less and less, I uninstalled discord, I'm no longer using my computer, and I'm starting to understand the people that came before me more and more. I feel more connected to the world around me. I understand what grit is. I interpreted it as being reckless and careless. A lot of people connect their seatbelts without wearing it, to stop the car seatbelt alarm from going off, or locking it to the passenger seat, to get it out of the way. They have this weird mentality that wearing a seatbelt is an annoyance or would make them less of a man.
The same thing happened in the car scene of the Episode 2, and it looks like it goes behind his son instead of in front of him. I believe he has the habit of keeping the seatbelt set that way all the time, while his son is more thoughtful about being lawful and more responsible.
Other events that reflect this are how the father just jumps on whatever idea he has in mind without thinking of the consequences, while his son tries to stay more grounded and rational. He was willing to lie to her wife, a scout nontheless, fish without a permit and improvise a camping experience without any knowledge of expertise, while Ivo wanted to be upfront with her and considered her mother's expertise to be valuable, other than posing the problem of not having a fishing permit.

He doesn't even know how to teach his son to chop wood properly, that's something even I know he was doing wrong and I've only done it a few times. I like how both characters are both flawed and virtuous in their own way, the son is weak/ soft, but he is resourceful and open minded. The father is strong, but he is stubborn. I like how the film never picks a side, and both have room to learn from the other.

Bruh he is just physicly strong and thinks he is the man because he was born tall he is kind of a dick. Being protective doesn't mean being born tall and dillusional.Maybe don't go into the fucki g forest alone with a teenager without telling anybody because even a dwarf with a limp can drug you shoot you or stab the fuck out of you.

You know, when a clicked this I though it was one of those toxic masculinity bullsh*t vids,
But no. This is just so heartwarming to watch! I love the relationships and the art style.

The ending thank you dad hit me a little bit. We have to appreciate our fathers despite their flaws case they are just trying to do right by us. Love you dad

The expressionless of the models and voices add a lot to the great writing. It conveys a lot how I see people nowadays - everybody talk and move like humans, but feel like robots.

My father died when I was a year old. But for some reason, I believe this is how the stuff could go. Thank you for making these videos, these really show how things should be. Parenting isn't just about giving money, it's about experience and graphic memories - mistakes are to be done, but without it there's no learning.
