Warship models have been an interest since teens , biggest I have made was a Trumpeter ARIZONA , but for sailing they need to be BIG don't they ? a 12" warship just looks silly .This Warspite is gorgeous , Thanks for sharing . We are a model club in Pembs . (PS they should learn to keep out of the way !! She's not supposed to turn like a tugboat .)
@@Aelvir114 Yes it's a great hobby , only problem a lot of us are getting quite old , it's that "ouch" feeling when you lean over to launch your boat ! Colin , he's got no chance without the trailer !! Try and find a local club and go along and talk to them , we love to talk about model boats. Best Wishes from Wales .
A niche market that I am one hundred percent into. Infact, I'm playing a game called from the depths which i am currently building a ship which is inspired (but not a copy of) the Queen Elizabeth class battleships such as the Warspite, post 27 refit, and the IJN Kamikaze as a 1:1 recreation - I haven't got the money to do it as proper model ships so I make do with building them in games instead. Not a 1:1 recreation of the Warspite, just inspired, as said~ cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/453585653163229205/722204121733529781/unknown.png cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/453585653163229205/722204345374081034/unknown.png cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/453585653163229205/722204472943706132/unknown.png
I've done an french pre-dreadnought at 1/72 and braking and steering is slow at best. 35kg of ballast doesn't help. I'm worried that at some point I'll damage someone else's model, as people don't understand how bad of an idea it is to get in front of me....
I did some quick math. If this ship had working guns to scale, this human-sized model should be able to shoot ~466 yards (426 meters). Its just stunning to me, how powerful the guns were.
A beautiful model of a famous ship. I like the smoke and powered turrets. As others have mentioned it's a shame HMS Warspite was not turned into a museum ship. HMS Iron Duke would have been a good choice as well.
i agree, though in the UK we do have HMS Belfast which is better than nothing. There is a 1/96 model of HMS Iron Duke built by Geoff Dixon featured on my channel which has working turrets
When over taking , always go a stern ! Re the weight problem, have you thought of water ballast ? Using a electric pump on board to pump into internal tanks when launched. So as to lower the water line , and pump out at the end of the day . It would lower the weight and make it lighter to carry .
i noticed she was a bit noisy. i was told that some of the electrical and mechanical parts have been in the ship for over a decade and need an overhaul.
Building a French pre-dreadnought battleship in 1/72 scale at the moment complete with a ram bow. This confirms my fears about not being able to stop and collisions! I'm hoping I dont sink too many boats....
we told people so many times to stay clear but they just didnt listen. good luck with your build. are you in the uk? are you a member of any fb model boat groups?
@@rcmodelwarships6893 in the UK, not members of any groups, I'd appreciate any good ones to join. Done a revell Corvette and got a working steam tug too.
Very impressive. I just hope wherever you keep it is REALLY secure, because the more work that goes into anything like this the more effort the barely-human section of society will put into destroying it.
What a great model! Did you consider creating another version of the Old Lady but with 1916 look ? I know that HMS Warspite is known mostly from WWII but she fought in Jutland with her sisters as a brand new ship. It looked totally different that days.
Not much regard for the rules of the road in this pond. The second collision was the Warsprite's fault. Should have passed behind the coaster. The first one was just an idiot with a toy boat. I would be very selective where and with who I sail a model of this nature. It looks like it lost the portside anchor in the first bump. Damage like this is not okay. These parts are extremely hard to replace and damn expensive.

I love the concept of RC model ships in general. I would love to indulge in a replica of RMS/HMT Olympic myself, but the price is the only setback.

There's something sort of poetic about this model ship crashing into stuff as she did back in the day.
The most accurate model to date
thank you for your comment. i have a playlist of the warspite and his italian cruiser roma video's

I love that ship. A fantastic model of the Grand Old Lady, well done! If only they had listened and preserved her, what a legacy.
they should have preserved her or even the Vanguard.

Fabulous. One of My grandads old ships, manning the guns. He was a royal marine based in Portsmouth.
interesting history
RC Ships are so cool. I wouldn’t mind getting one of RMS Olympic in her Dazzle camo with her 2-pounder, 4.7-inch gun and her six 6-inch guns.
i think there is someone building one of them
