I love using custom PCB's with mounting points for breakouts. It's a nice step between "bodge of wires" and "fully custom PCB".

same! also if something happens to a component then it makes it more repairable

Nice project and very cool switches. I remember seeing similar ones in Mechlabor studio reel-to-reel tape machines. Good memories - I'd get a bunch of those for an OBS scene switcher project :)

thanks! yeah these switches would make a great OBS controller

Excellent selection of hardware components! Although I am a huge fan of Cherry MX compatible mechanical switches, I have to admit the step switches look pretty cool :)

thanks! i still have a soft spot for the cherry mx switches too and definitely want to do something musical with them at some point

What a great implementation! Feels very much like the CopierMaschine function in the Ornament & Crime, which has a pseudo-analogue shift register with four 1v/oct outputs. Interesting stuff. Look forward to seeing this progressing

Very nice indeed! If I may ask, where did you get those black and white switches with the LEDs in them? I really need some for a project I am working on 👾🤖🎶
