- Hey Guys,
On a recent trip chasing mulloway on hardbody lures, I thought I would film a quick little video showing you all the gear I take out with me. Mulloway or jewfish as we call them over here on the east coast of Australia are and absolutely awesome fish to target. They get big, they eat lures, and they have to be one of the downright best looking fish in the ocean! So, here's all the gear you'll need to chase them yourself!

These old information uploads are gold. Thanks Sammy 👍🏻
Thanks mate, very informative and I might use that knowledge from a boat close to rocks . Thanks again for making it so simple for us trying to crack one of these beauties.👌
Good run down, Sammy. On my bucket list one day!
Keep the mulloway vids coming Sam! They sure are a mystical beast and you have to earn every fish.
Very much so mate! that's why they are so addictive
Thanks man slowly putting the gear together
nice one brother keep us updated! tight lines
Thanks for sharing your arsenal. My area has them around the rainy season but few guys chase after them with lures here.1.5 years left before I move away..will keep trying until I get lucky
SwimbaitFreak that's it mate! Just need to keep casting! It took me 11 years to get my first big one! Some people just seem to catch them easily, some don't. I'm in the "don't" basket I think! Hahah
11 years..I have 1 year.I'd be lucky to catch a dink even.Might resort to live bait - just to get a feel of their power
SwimbaitFreak you'll be right! Just keep casting!
Hey mate, quick question, do you use the rattle or silent version of the croaker lures?
Hey Mate, I like the silent ones better
@@SammyHitzkeFishing I have ordered a few of each. I'll let ya know how I go.
We love the croakers hey. 😉
Hey Sammy, can you tell me what brand gaff that is or where you got it? I’ve been hunting the big one for about 4 years now and I actually had one right by the Seawall I was on but my gaff wasn’t long enough to reach and I had to watch him wear through my line and swim off! Rookie error I know- but I’m getting closer 😃
ohhhh that's Devastating mate! that gaff is a 12ft Hook Em Gaff with an extra 6ft extension piece. great bit of kit!
Hey Sammy, you said you were using a 8-12 kg rod but you are using 40lb mono which is higher then the line rating of the rod. How does this work?
Cheers
hey mate, The rods rating is only for what the rod can lift, not for how heavy the line can be. I use the heavier line for abrasion resistance around rocks not for lifting heavy fish.
Sammy Hitzke Fishing , So does that mean your rod can only lift a 12kg fish?
all the questions been answered. awesome.
randy marsh
muffman muff cheers mate!
Hey sammy, cool review! what are those swimbaits called?
hey mate which ones were you referring too? the soft plastic one?
yeah the plastics
Hey Sammy where did u buy ur lures from?
kickass, thanks mate
jonnywaselectric not a problem at all!
Sammy, what is your preferred mono?
Hey mate, I use Schneider line, But can use heaps of different types. It just needs to be a fairly hard line. The soft supple stuff doesn't last long around the rocks.
What distance u casting off the beach?
What is the best tide to fish while the rivers are in flood some say first of the run out others say different
Hey mate it really depends on the river but first of the run out in the dirty water line is a good place to start in a flood 👌
How much mono do you have on there
Slow roll Sammy?
Always a slow roll 👌
When using mono shouldn't you have a swivel to stop line twist
Ethan A hey mate, you don't need a swivel because the lure doesn't spin through the water. When you cast the line twists, then is untwisted when it's wound back onto the reel. So no need for a swivel at all!
