    Great video bud. Im pretty sure i recognise the beach, but confirmation would definitely inspire me because thousands of casts,hooked basically everything except a jew. I don't want to go back to baits 😅

      It’s a very popular spot but I won’t say exactly which one. Copped heaps of flack when I had where it was in the title - most of it complete nonsense. But one guy did have a good point so I chose to change it. It’s close to Newcastle and I’ve caught Jew off most of the beaches in the area, including the city ones. Jew are a scarce fish and you’re making it even harder by throwing baits in the surf but it also makes it that much more rewarding. Good luck mate!

    Cracker of a video mate the algorithm has put me onto our channel after binge watching Daves Channel. You have gained a new sub from me.
    I have only just started my beach fishing journey. I haven't been out beach fishing yet but I brought a set up yesterday from hot tackle.
    PENN ALLEGIANCE II ROD 12-20kg and Penn Slammer IV 7500 reel which is the same as yours which gives me some confidence going into beach fishing cause I thought the rig I purchased was too big for Lures but watching this video gives me some confidence to give a lure a try later down the road when I'm more experienced.
    Thanks for the video mate, tight lines!

    • @anglinguntangled

      Thank you very much for the kind comments mate, glad you’ve found the vids and they’re being helpful.
      The setup will be a beauty and hopefully you christen it with some fish this weekend. Will certainly handle a good jewy but you might have to be patient with those guys, but I think there’s still plenty of good size salmon around if you’re up newy.
      For most beach fishing it’s all about the gutters, learn how to spot a good gutter and you’ll get good results.
      Cheers

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing 3 года назад +1

      @@anglinguntangled shot bru! I am sure most of our techniques will work over there. The formation is similar to where we catch them. Try to take the 40lb off and replace it with a good 20lb then add a 50lb braided leader via fg, just long enough to wrap like once or twice around the spool for casting, on that 50lbs braided leader you can tie 1,2-1,5m mono snoot of about .65mm diameter. That mono does not go into the guides when you cast. This way you will get better distance. Throwing over the strike zone, one often land in the strike zone and gets washed out of it quickly. Give that a go if you want to. If you did let me know how it went. Even a added 10m to the cast can make a difference in getting the bite or not. You are then also able to fish banks that you previously couldn’t reach. I found that a 2oz jig head works wonders,when the wind is a problem switch the 5inch soft plastic to a 5inch, the difference in distance is significant. Getting over the strike zone is more important than the size of the lure. Tight lines bru! Lekka vid🤙🏻👌🏻

    • @anglinguntangled
      @anglinguntangled  3 года назад

      Yeah I usually use 30lb on a smaller Penn slammer when throwing lures but have been testing out that long cast spool which I geared up for bait fishing. Had never heard of braided leaders before getting into the South African style so will have to give it a go and let you know.
      Hope you don’t mind but am planning on using your shark rig in a future video too. I won’t go into making it because your vid on it is great, so was just going to direct people to that

      Hey mate, I rate both ends of the tide the same it’s more about what the gutter looks like. As in a gutter that looks prime on the high might be too shallow on the low etc. Some gutters can look good at both ends especially if it’s a small tide change.
