This is a year late, but if you like this style of chilled out creator interview videos, you should check out Archipel documentaries ! They're a youtube channel focused on japanese creators and they have masterful editing. Really recommend. ( They're actually going to release a mini-series on Metaphor's creators sometime soon, which i'm really excited about ! )
It's a fantasy RPG with Press Turn and Persona's social elements. It's already day one for me lol

@@OkaRin1 mostly likely one the composers that has worked on the persona spin offs/Royal. If you ask me they have proven their worth.
And after pausing at certain gameplay moments in the trailer. If you zoom in, you’ll see that you can change classes for all of your party members. Including yourself.
I saw different class names like “Destroyer, Soul Hacker, Trickster,” and of course the basic classes like Thief, Fighter, Knight, Ninja, Seeker, etc. It also looks like the protagonist will be a Wind user too after seeing their moves list briefly.
It's so cool to see and hear such talented and passionate group of individuals show their art and to see their approach on how to make something truly special. This is why they make such unforgettable experiences and why I personally love this studio so much, they actually give a damn about their art and it shows. "Face your fear" is such a cool and simple message. Can not wait for this game!

Wow. To hear Atlus directly say that they want their games to impact people’s lives and for the game to be an enriching and meaningful experience. I always got this impression from their games, but to hear it from the horses mouth really does encourage me in the thought that goes into these games. I can’t just play games purely for entertainment, I need them to be meaningful experiences and this is why I come back to Atlus. I really do hope that Atlus keeps this purpose in their games, as it really is what makes their games special. The human meaning in their games, such as Persona 3 really does touch me. Thank you Atlus.
I feel like this game is going to be a result of a passionate team looking at WHY we're attracted to both consume and create fantasy in the first place, asking why people choose to dive into fictional worlds for various reasons. We've already seen that a core mechanic centers around the physical personification of architypes, the hero, the heart, the foil, the villian, all these traditional character tropes that we, in our world at least, don't question and see as basic storytelling.
The core question behind this games themes seems to be "Why do we, as people, choose to engage in fiction and can it really enrich our lives?"
Dude, the moment they played a piece of the score Mr. Meguro made i instantly got goosebumps. I think we're alright with this one ya'll!

Wow! That was a really cool series of 3 interviews. Never thought of music like a UI element, and loved the philosophy behind the story and art. The more i see, the more excited i am about this one!!

This game is looking to combine the best aspects of both SMT and Persona, and putting it in a fantasy with modern culture elements in fashion and infrastructure. Love this package put together for this game from Atlus, one that could give an impeccable trifecta of JRPGs in their franchise portfolio for years to come. Can't wait to play it on my Xbox next year!

Let's Goooo some of my favoreite Atlus artists and devs are making this game. I am so freaking hyped. Atlus is so good at character design and the art style is definitely taken inspiration from both SMT and Persona and making something new and unique. Plus it's a fantasy as well which is right up my ally. Looking forward to this!

Atlus has always been diving into a genre and topic that are deeply rooted to human emotion, whether its the bad or the good of humanity..
Atlus Big pillar is SMT and Persona series, i personally play more Persona than SMT because of how intriguing the story is, the deep connection between you and your allies, and the forces who tryin to take you down, its all really makes you think about life, similar like when you just finished a really good novel..
One thing for sure, this game is not only about "A Grand Adventure" , but instead be a "Life changing Adventure"

I would've preferred Etrian Odyssey being built as its third pillar instead of medieval persona but I'm still interested to see what the finished product of Re Fantazio looks like
Idk know how they would've done that when EO is intrinsically designed to be niche. There's a reason why SMT isn't a first person dungeon crawler anymore.
Yeah I think there's a lot they could do to really elevate a first person dungeon crawler rpg to the level of the persona series if they dedicated the time, talent, and budget to doing so

I had just about given up on Project Re Fantasy since they announced it in 2016. Glad to know it infact exists and looks strong. 👍
Making a big game takes 7 years nowadays ... but yes I agree this was a big surprise after several years of near radio silence.
So excited playing persona 4 for the first time right now and loving it. Only played persona 1 and smt raidou before this so this game is amazing compared to those.
Hopefully it will come to Switch as well, otherwise I guess I will get it for PS5 and maybe PC later
Replacing rap with bhuddist chanting is definitely a unique take alright! XD Meguro is always creative as all hell.
An idea of a "third pillar" is intriguing. Not to stop, but to pause Persona to open a new chapter drenched in fantasy. Take as much time as you need, thanks Atlus.

@@phillemon7664 just realized that i was upset for no reason, cause in the original reveal trailer during the xbox presentation it didnt have any of the other console marks anywhere in the trailer besides xbox. so because of this i thought it was exclusive and thought atlus had made a terrible marketing decision since xbox is not all that popular in japan. Thought id never get a chance to play the game so this is good news.

For some reason, Phil Spencer writes a check to a few JP game companies, gets them to announce their game (or release date) first on the Xbox showcase with only Xbox logo (and no other logos). But Phil's check only covers a 48-hour or 72-hour period of advertising exclusivity, after which those companies can announce all the consoles (+ PC) that the game is actually coming to. Feels like a weird flex from Xbox, if you ask me. Artificial as well, making Xbox appear desperate to look cool to a JP-game-playing audience ... since Xbox will be by far the least played version of this game.

Game is still very far away -- probably late 2024 release. They'll set up pre-orders with the next info dump in early 2024, most likely. I'm sure they haven't even figured out the special editions etc.

Persona started as a spin-off, not currently is. There is a difference between being an actual spin-off, and already becoming something of it’a own.
You can’t say this about soul hackers 2, because this spin-off game doesn’t have a big history of its own like Persona series and was made on a much smaller scale

So this is only on XBOX? I have no problem buying an XBOX if it starts to have more RPGs on there, since they have the 360 library and I want to replay Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Infinite Undiscovery.

It looks like an amazing game, but it seems odd that they'd consider it a "third pillar" for Atlus alongside SMT and Persona when it looks like it plays identically to Persona 5. I mean it looks like Persona 5 in cosplay. I feel like they should have made it a fundamentally different game to Persona and SMT. It doesn't quite feel like it has its own identity because of the similarities to Persona. Still gonna get this though.

Why not just call this Persona 6? personally I wish they would radically change the setting of a new Persona game as I am tired of playing as a high school student and would love a new setting and this game seems like it basically has the same game mechanics and artstyle as Persona or SMT which is a bit disappointing as we already have those games and would've liked something more unique but I guess we will have to wait and see.
Persona will always be about student life. Megami Tensei as a franchise is predominantly about youth in modern society's ability to change the world (the only exceptions being Strange Journey and Majin Tensei II Spiral Nemesis I think). All the way since the beginning it has starred a teenage protagonist that does some wild things (Nakajima is a weirdo). Persona is always going to star young people in upper education whether they are in High School or College. Metaphor deviates from this entirely by putting them in a fantasy world mainly separate from society. Metaphor by concept alone cannot be in the Persona series.
My excited went from ten to zero! They talked so much to say it's P5 but in a fantasy skin! They even brought the Persona thing and renamed it Architype for this one! Skip!

I'm actually so happy, they're being fully honest about the game, we can also see that they're putting an immense amount of effort into the game just by what they're saying about their experiences making it.
Notice they said nothing of developing the game, only polishing. They'll basically done and fine tuning this gem to the highest order. My favorite studio in the business of making games today (I see you over there, too, FromSoftware).
