    Sweet! For whomever had the idea of gnawing on that root (and the bark on the tree) , a big thank you. Two of my favourite spices when baking; ginger and cinnamon.
    Must try this!

    Ginger cake is the spiced version of malt loaf to me but you have to have it warm with custard. Oh god the memories I have of that desert 👍🏻❤️

    If memory serves, old Arkwright tried to shift an out of date loaf to every customer whether they wanted one or not! Def going on my list of to-do, not sure if I can get treacle though. Thanks, Keef👍

    Tried this from “across one of the ponds”, where local ingredients forced me to substitute black sugar cane molasses for treacal; a local light honey for the golden syrup(to taste); fresh grated ginger for packaged (added a little zip). Delightful cake. I live where more varieties of fresh
    Ginger grow by metric tonnes than we know how to use! (Fresh Ginger Ales, brewed ginger beer)Thanks for another hit Keefie; aloha nui to Mrs Keef.

    My Mum used to make something similar that she called Ginger Bread. Unfortunately she took her recipe with her so I can't compare with this. But, I've a suspicion, if my memory serves me right, that yours and hers are just about identical. I'm going to give this a go 'cos Iceland Freezer Shops supply all the necessary here in Spain. At a price I might add,.

    That looks so delicious. Ginger cake is probably my all time favourite cakes. Wow that looks good. I have a recipe for triple ginger Bundt cake (powdered, fresh and candied ginger). Yum!

    I'm going to give that a go - looks really delicious. By the way Keef Lakeland do greaseproof liners for loaf style tins and other shapes which are really great and much easier to use. Can leave the cake in them and just keep wrapping it round, no need to take it all off :)

    Hi Keith, why don’t you put your pan on your scales and then pour the syrup and treacle into the pan, saves dirtying two other containers, just a thought. Hope you have a good week.

    I love this Jamaica ginger cake , I made now only I put 2 spoons treacle molasses, I think 6 spoons is to much . I mixed butter and 2 spoons oil. Why some people put hot water ... I think it will be great my ginger by your recipe,I let it cool 🆒🆒 cut in midnight.🎉❤❤ Have a lovely healthy life. Next time please make Scottish snowballs ..

    Why is the grease proof paper required, if the loaf pan is non stick? The cake looks really good, and would pair nicely with a good cup of tea. Cheers, Keef!

    Would this hold up to the addition of dried fruits and nuts for a Christmas loaf? Thinking mini loaves.

      @@elaine58100 Did-you-make-her? I am not an English language professor but perhaps should be? I think in this case the word Jamaica is a Portmanteau but I could easily be incorrect. That is why I am still waiting for the call from Oxford.

    I love carrot cake, I love everything 🎉❤ .. you can eat with cream or just like that. Both of you are nice lovely people,she is a lucky woman when man cook for her. 😊

    Oh yes, that looks so good, just need to find some golden syrup and I can make it. Yum! What spices are in mixed spice? I've forgotten and we don't have that in Alberta, nor bouquet garni, my English cookbooks are very annoyed about that. 😉

      Thank you - never heard of this and there's no way I'd have found it Googling for Jamaican Ginger Cake. Looks very pale though, not like the one I made and that we can buy here in the UK.
