I apologize for my mic connection issues! We didn't notice it was an issue while filming until an hour into the discussion. I unplugged and plugged my mic back in, and that fixed it. Thanks for understanding!

Philip (quoting one of the Gwynne bros): "People tend to remember your series for the last book..." Thanks a million for terrifying me just weeks before my series finale releases. 🤣Thanks for hosting a wonderful panel. Very insightful so far. Glad y'all loved my favorite book of 2023.

I thought The Edan Series was Great. Phillip Did an outstanding job. "My Goodness" there is a lot of folks on the screen. My screen is moving back and forth.... The best description would be that my screen is UNDULATING with book tubers.... speaking back and forth.

Awesome to listen to this discussion while continuing my Journey into Tad Williams’ «Memory, Sorrow & Thorn»: If everything falls to plan, I will be meeting the Good Professor in person this Summer, and will definitely discuss the influence from MS&T!
My spoiler thoughts of “Return to Edan”, apologies if I repeat some of my comments from my ERD with Professor Chase! 😅
Dayraven as the Prophet of Edan has some clear allusions to Jesus: His Fishermen Disciples, his healing and sermons: The Brothers Parable has elements of Cain & Abel, Esau & Jacob and the Dreams of Joseph & Daniel. Edge reminded me of a mix of St. Peter in the Gethsamane Garden, St. Paul (former prosecutor turned religious leader for his former opponents) and Cornelius, the Righteous Roman Officer. And Dayraven and Seren’s relationship reminded me of Jesus & the Marys, Aslan & the Pevensie sisters from «Narnia» and Ged & Tenar/Tehanu in «Earthsea»!
The Scene with the Torrlond Soldier & the old man made me almost cry!
Micah 4:3-4 came to my mind: «3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.»
Ah, those constant Crystal Ball updates: Knew Joruman was into crystals! 😆
For me, the Return of Bagsac went from «Yeah! Bagsac, you are back you old fart! What kind of Slapstick will The Professor put you through?» to «Oh, no Bagsac!😨Yikes!». A Tolkienian Touch on the value/purpose of every person from the Professor, with Bagsac as a recovering Gollum!
    Several of the names referenced:
Halvard: St. Halvard of Oslo, slayed with arrows together with a maiden he attempted to save from villains, his body tied to a millstone to sink in the ocean, only to miraculously float according to Legend!
Bodvar: Bodvar Bjarki, the Norwegian Berserker of the Arthurian-like Danish King Hrolf Kraki!
Hakon: Multiple Norwegian Kings: Håkon the Good (the first Christian King of Norway), Håkon IV Håkonson (the Old, the most famous and powerful High Medieval King of Norway), Haakon VII (our first king when we gained independence from Sweden in 1905, as well as during WW2)
Ekil: The Hero Egil (brother of Volund from the Lay of Volund) and the semi-legendary King of the Swedes Egil Angantyr/Ongentheow and the Icelandic Viking Skald Egill Skallagrimson (famous for his blood feud with the Norwegian Viking King Eirik Bloodaxe!)
Hewald: The Two Ewald/Hewalds, Duo of 7th Century Northumbria Missionaries turned saints in Westphalia, Germany
    Vormun: Vermund, «man-defender»
    Fyrnwita: «Ancient Sage», «Wise Old Man»
    Duke Silverhand! 😎🎸⚡️😄
    «Freedom!» for Scotland…For Endor…For the Shire…For Asdralad!😄
The Battle of Thulhan & the Last Stand of Sildharan, was real highlights for me, as I loved how Keevan, Munzil & the Golgar Company interweaved with each other! Did not want any of them to perish!
Lady Savatri: Savitri: 1) Solar Diety in the Hindu Rigveda, 2) the Consort of the God Brahma, 3) the heroine of the story of Savitri and Satyavan (saving Satyavan from Yama, the God of Death), 4) an Indian River, 5) a famous Indian Actress in Tamil & Telugu Cinema and 6) Savitri Deva (French-born Greek Axis Spy and Polytheistic Neo-N@zi Occultist)
Tiran: «Spider has always been the sentimental sort»
    «Spider seems to nod»😆
King Naitaran & Earconwaeld: Inspired by different aspects of Denethor II?
Naitaran a fatalistic, but stoic Royal Human Sacrifice (akin to «The Golden Bough», and conspicuously absent from the Royal Burial in «Beowulf», hinted to when Denethor mentioned his and Faramir’s funeral pyre will echo «the heathen Kings of old») & Blood Eagle (similar to Ivar Boneless’ revenge on King Ælla for killing his father Ragnar Lodbrok in a snakepit!), while Earconwaeld is driven to madness by truth, and a failed attempt to redeem himself.
The Story of Froda: Hints of Odin’s visits to Midgard from Norse Mythology, mixed with Charon & Orfeus from Classical Mythology
As mentioned in my EDB with Professor Chase, while we leave this novel with new rulers (re-)installed in Torrland, Grimrik, Asdralad and Adanon (and implied in Golgar, having met the Crown Princess in «The Prophet of Edan»), I hope the sequel will mention what have happened to post-Invasion and post-Prophet Sildharan, having been radically changed politically, socially and religiously!
