Properly mounting car sensors instead of bad glue is not new. Material Science is not a new field of science. You're paying a lot for these cars, I think you people deserve to have a lot more in the build quality department. Mark makes a very good point. A lot of these designs are not made to stand the test of time without (compared to other car manufactures) early servicing of these features. They could have been. They could have used higher precision in the manufacturing process, they could have used stronger materials at the door hinge, they could have properly mounted the door sensors. They did not. (thats quite a very long time for one model). If yours was produced in the late 80s or early 90s, they have already sorted all issues, because they made this one specific car for decades! Tesla is doing manufacturing just from the late 2000s, in fact since 2012. Model X is on the market for no more than 4 years, it also has a shitton of electric servomotors which 240 didn't have at all. Modern Volvos can also have quite huge problems with electronics, so the main source of 240 dependabiility lies in its extremely simple nature more than in some incredible Swedish ingenuity (as some fans of volvo claim), unfortunately.

ALSO, people who can afford these high end models have plenty of money to fix them and do not think on 95% of the norms level. If you want to be logical/reasonable when purchasing an all electric vehicle, then go with the most simple one with the least amount of moving parts. Automatic doors, spoilers, doors handles, sensors, etc is just asking for more possible failures and it's not an if. It's a when.
Sure you have all these fancy features, but they all fail eventually and usually in a few years of heavy use. Same is with any luxury car. Heavy use = higher % of failure. The next years model usually fixes the first years problems no matter the company or product.

What you have learned from it? basically an over engineer vehicle that was build in a cost cutting process using low quality parts with a supreme low quality assembly process with a trial and error run that is pass to the buyer with a result of high cost for the consumer with a high margin of profit for the company. If you purchase a vehicle for $110+K and in less than 2 to 3 years of use it is falling a part as this example does, that tells me that we wont see many Tesla of this generation on the road in the next 15 to 20 years. Basically either they all be used for parts or you will find them on scrap yards. If you though that Tesla it is a none maintenance vehicle your are wrong. Maybe even more expensive to maintain because the labor intense that will take to just do the proper fit and finish that the manufacture never do when produce the vehicle, and if you ran out of warranty you are on your own. That is why electrified garage is here.

@@PapaWheelie1 If it was a gas car, I would agree and wouldn't care, but these issues might deter some people who don't know any better from buying Tesla's and EVs in general considering nobody really cares about any pure EV's other than Tesla's.

It reminds me of the cars back in my country. You had to take it to mechanic shop as soon as you buy it to tight the bolts and nuts before you can drive it.

When will you have your own motor mount ready? I’ve just had tge shafts replaced under warranty and will likely need them done again. Many X owners are tired of waiting for re-enginered mount/shafts

Tesla is the only car company that sells you a car that they deliver when they feel like and then you still have to take that whole damn thing apart and put it back together properly. Helen Keller could build one better than they seem to be able to.

When the Japanese get on the electric scene I'm really worried for Tesla. The Japanese are really got at quality control but with a great price. Two things Tesla really struggles with

Tells a lot of quality, when a 1999 Renault Clio, of 5 owners, and 3 condoms...has better fitment than a brand newish car.

Thanks for posting this. It does make me a bit more wary of purchasing an X and perhaps waiting to see what the Y and P have in store.
