One that traverses through countless universes and realities in search of its next grandiose meal. Though not always malicious in nature, it feeds off the unconditional and obsessive love, lust, and affection of others. But due to its true size, it must consume great amounts to feel full. And of course, to do this it must take any shape possible. A character is attracted only to men or masc aligned people? No problem. A character is attracted to petite people? Easy. Okay idk WHAT yall are reading but most if not ALL of the fanfics I've read we're falling in LOVE with the oc or y/n- like they are so well written and badass and funny and have great style- yall gotta get off your side of wattpad 💀💀💀
@@elizabethxingzhenlim3120 I once saw a really well written Y/N fic that had funny comments So both good and funny comments exists apparently Of course, it was a spanish fic, and latam humor cracks me up so
I can’t ever find any POC!Reader without it being kinda racist. I mean i was reading a South Asian y/n (ik it’s rare) and the author said “y/n smelled like curry.” Like seriously 😒? Why do we always gotta smell weird? P.s. i’m south asian if u couldn’t tell
s/o to that one writer who literally wrote a racist!bakugo x black!reader and it had fuck shit lines like "out of all the boys in the world, you had to fall for the racist one?" and "if it was [a girl], itd have straight hair and fair skin. this is a gorilla" fics been taken down but holy shit ive never been the same since
MANY of the mafia or business-type ones I’ve read there’s always an assistant or mafia member that does something wrong and the first thing they’re threatened with is “being sent to Africa” like wtf
I would just write that the parents were murdered and that Y/N or [NAME] was then put up for adoption yet despite the police’s wishes they wouldn’t leave the case alone and HAD to help. With the help of what their parents had left behind as they were detectives and close to cracking a murder case. My lord this just gave me an entire story idea-
10:35 I like this one. Why? Because I’m writing a story with plus sized, black, gay, male Y/N that actually has relatable problems-😭 How did this happen? I couldn’t find many male Y/N stories, and I had heard POC complain about POC Y/N. So I thought I could challenge myself with a Y/N story that is nothing like the ones you usually read. It’s still a draft, and my friend is the only one that has really read it-. But I’m thinking about uploading the first few chapters this summer. What do you think? 🤔 Edit: Ok the name- I still haven’t uploaded but the name is probably going to be “A Y/N fic you should read. 💅”. (Yes the emoji is part of the title) It’s basic, I know, but I think it’s true🥰. Also, it’s sort of not written for you to add your name for ‘Y/N’, you’re supposed to read ‘Y/N’😅. Did I mention Y/N is also gay and plus size-?
As someone who often has Y/n main characters I’ve never done a x reader Y/n is always aromantic- I made a Harry Potter fanfic once where after in was announced that the Yule Ball would be happening Y/n got super over excited and everyone assumed they were a hopeless romantic and they were so excited to get asked to the ball when they were actually just excited because they wanted help plan the ball :>
Probably one of the best jokes in a fan fic I ever heard was y/n was introducing themself on stage and the character next to them (Gideon gleeful if your wondering) said “yen?” Confused and y/n explained it how we all say it. And back in the day I hated it but reading it again now I’m literally fucking dying it’s so subtle and funny this is peek writing
So I’m an X reader writer, and I think one of my biggest pet peeves is only making a female y/n. I am personally non-binary and would love to see some more representation. Plus, it really ruins a book when a character is canonically gay/lesbian/bi/ect but it’s only with a female y/n (excluding a lesbian character, it’s always with a male reader for once)
As an x reader writer too, I really wanna write a non binary y/n, but the problem I have is I get nervous I'll get something wrong or represent y/n as a character, and everyone who is reading the story and is non binary, wrong. I'm not non binary so I don't know the kinds of struggles and oppression you all deal with. But I am learning a lot more. For now I'm just sticking with y/n being a female, but with mostly she/they pronouns. And a very vaguely described, or not even described at all, kind of style, fashion choice, etc. It's kinda fun honestly
@@user.LCW01 just use the gender neutral pronouns as it can be used for everyone (that's literally why they exist) and try to use as little Genderring terms as possible (the only exception is if the reader character is shown to be explicitly alright with certain terms. Like how I, a transmasc, hate "femine" terms but don't mind getting called pretty)
as a fanfic and x reader writer. I got too sick of fem! reader that I decided to make practice oneshots with male or gender-neutral reader. I also started writing genderfluid reader (since I wanted some representation)
I remember refusing to Y/N stories because they were so annoying and senseless, I've just recently started again. Kind of still annoying, but I'm most importantly staying away from the ones about actual people. Creepy af. Also, I love Y/N slander, I had issues but these stories took the cake.
All I want is a Y/N that can act like a normal person in their own way (Is that what you call it?). No tragic story, no luxurious lifestyle, no dramatic entrance or any cringy "problems", and no dead parents GOD!! Just a simple life but it's a good one that makes some people jealous because of house lovely their life is they don't need to prove anything or to find love for the sake of finding love and they don't need to do reckless things just to get validation, like they don't give a dang and goes away from all the drama happening out there. Is there any fanfic where the "Y/N" is like that?
If there was a y/n academy, I'm sure we can all agree that Bella Swan from Twilight would be the teacher/principal/secretleythequeenoftheland/sky quiet kid.
The issue with y/n and reader fanfics is that they're written to be so out of touch with a normal human, and so distant to who may actually be reading the fic that y/n is essentially more of an oc or the creators self insert rather than somebody the reader can project themselves onto. Especially when the creator makes y/n wear clothing that looks like she dug to the literal bottom of her local dump.
I love how many people slander (Y/N) for being 5'2, bullied in school, messy hairbun type, dead family members, etc. But based on my experiences as a writer, I will write those things about (Y/N) if and only it is relevant to the plot, if it is not, then I will just let the readers pick what they want (Y/N) to wear or look like. Just let the readers see their actual selves in the story other than some stereotypical character that wears things, looks and what they are that isn't even relevant to the plot.
like for example: y/n was bullied in school because she had a scar on her arm which basically relates her to her past life how she died and about her powers and shit like that- and messy hair bun type wtf does that gotta do with any plot or story?!??
I lowkey wanna start writing again just to make something that isn't a pain full of cliches like this😭Everyone in this comment section seems so fun. I havent written an actual story in so long but this.. this is givin me that motivation
Whenever I see YN break up a fight all I can think about is how I broke one up by yelling at some due who just bodied the other to "Quit your shit, you're by the student store for fuck sake"
3:06 okay, i dont have a full story (but i'm working on one) so, its like, male y/n lives with his mother ( big shock, he actually has parents) and his younger sister. They live kinda in the woods, away from people. One day, male y/n decides that he needs a break from his house, so he decides to get some fresh air, and go on a walk. After he walks a bit, he decides to let all his feelings out. It starts out as kicking rocks into trees, followed by soft sobbs, that leads to a yell/scream so full of emotion, someone could make an entire headcannon from it. ~End~ (like what i did there?)
I do kind want to see a story where y/n is part Teletubby? Also like In certain fandoms there’s literally only male Y/N fics A N D A03 is great for G/N Y/N fics.
28:00 While i agree with most of this i disagree with the "have y/n take meds to help" and "dont have it be self diagnosed" cause not every person with genuine depression has access to getting meds or a diagnosis. Sometimes ppl dont have healthcare so they cant go to a doctor, sometimes ppl cant afford meds, sometimes ppls parents suck and dont want to get them diagnosed. No I'm not saying you shouldn't put diagnosed and medicated depression into your story, cause you should! I'm saying don't demonize those who can't get meds or aren't able to get a diagnosis. Sometimes self-diagnosis is all a person can get and we need to stop saying self-diagnosis is bad just because some ppl end up being liars. Infact if you have a younger teen y/n its much more realistic to have their depression go unchecked since only a small percentage of that demographic actually gets checked or medicated for depression.
I always get so dang mad when people say they're "not like other girls" because they don't wear makeup or whatever. Buddy, you have no idea what it means to be different. Try having a literal, professionally diagnosed brain condition that makes you unable to understand body language, tone of voice, and social norms. Then we'll see who's "not like other girls."
They also say bs like "I like boys more bc less drama". Lemme tell you as someone who's has had mostly guy friends for over a decade and is in a school where fights frequently happen, Imma tell you that's a lie.
25:34 i remember seeing this on tik tok and sending it to my friend who is actually named Emily, and she was in the middle of making a character with brown hair and eyes- edit: time stamp
12:07 this would be great as some sort of What We Do In The Shadows-style show or sitcom, all the 'love interest' types just hanging out as roommates and arguing with each other, forming some unlikely friendships and getting into problems together
i need a crybaby y/n who isn’t afraid to cry and doesn’t run away, one who accepts her feelings and just throws a can of soda at her bully and spills it all over his designer clothes and breaks his apple watch 😘😘 yes, i am a crybaby. yes, i fantasize about throwing cans of soda at people.
I've actually been seeing a bit more gn y/n and trans(well, ftm) y/n. Of course, I only read fnaf and danganronpa (stop judging me 💀), so maybe outside of those fandoms its not common.
Bruh someone make a master list of good y/n fanfics and cause I would read all those even if I know nothing about the fandom. Struggling to find good fanfics nowadays 😭
I like to think of Y/N in any fanfic as the very opposite of the irl human who's reading it like if u super cheery in bubbly irl u will be the most depressed being in the world with every mental illness possible and vice versa
This gave me the inspiration to make a fanfic where all the different categories of y/n are finally in college, and somehow find ways to meet eachother (via roomates ect) it'll be a chill friend group type of fic

I feel like the whole jock and nerd stuff from fanfics don’t really relate to our time anymore bc nowadays the nerd IS the jock (cuz they’re trying to get in college, look good in applications, etc). At least, that’s how it was in AP classes.
Jocks/gym bros tend to be nerds and gamers themselves nowadays.
Okay idk WHAT yall are reading but most if not ALL of the fanfics I've read we're falling in LOVE with the oc or y/n- like they are so well written and badass and funny and have great style- yall gotta get off your side of wattpad 💀💀💀
We know but the comments are just gold that we just had to stick around 😂
Same though, in so glad I never stumbles upon these really bad y/n stories lmfao

Ngl I can never read a black!reader without the fic having some sorta racism or colorism embedded into it 🏃🏽♀️💨🥱
I can’t ever find any POC!Reader without it being kinda racist. I mean i was reading a South Asian y/n (ik it’s rare) and the author said “y/n smelled like curry.” Like seriously 😒? Why do we always gotta smell weird?
P.s. i’m south asian if u couldn’t tell

fics been taken down but holy shit ive never been the same since
I saw one that said “(y/n) had blonde hair styled in straight, long, afro.”

I would just write that the parents were murdered and that Y/N or [NAME] was then put up for adoption yet despite the police’s wishes they wouldn’t leave the case alone and HAD to help. With the help of what their parents had left behind as they were detectives and close to cracking a murder case.

10:35 I like this one. Why? Because I’m writing a story with plus sized, black, gay, male Y/N that actually has relatable problems-😭
How did this happen?
I couldn’t find many male Y/N stories, and I had heard POC complain about POC Y/N. So I thought I could challenge myself with a Y/N story that is nothing like the ones you usually read. It’s still a draft, and my friend is the only one that has really read it-. But I’m thinking about uploading the first few chapters this summer. What do you think? 🤔
Edit: Ok the name-
I still haven’t uploaded but the name is probably going to be “A Y/N fic you should read.
@oniisue Thanks! Maybe I’ll comment the name once I upload? 🤔

That’s adorable and I must read it plz
i beg of you to link the fic i BEG i am so desperate to see aromantic y/n's and your fics sound like absolute heaven to me
Your fics sound fun. Links?
Probably one of the best jokes in a fan fic I ever heard was y/n was introducing themself on stage and the character next to them (Gideon gleeful if your wondering) said “yen?” Confused and y/n explained it how we all say it. And back in the day I hated it but reading it again now I’m literally fucking dying it’s so subtle and funny this is peek writing
Gideon is my least favorite GF character but I can't help but laugh at this 🤣
when y/n is technically supposed to be you but is given very specific features and traits...

8:34-Listen, I know this is Abt Y/N, but the accuracy this sound holds in the Miraculous Ladybug fandom almost hurts.
These make me laugh because I have read both horrid and amazing Y/N stories. I’ve seen so many “We need Y/N x Reader” comments it’s hilarious.
Is there any fanfic where the "Y/N" is like that?
oh yeah, OH YEAH!?!?!
well I want mine to be FUCKED UP AND EVIL just a horrible thang

FRRRRRRRR😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I like that but the annoying part of is y/n being 5'2 all the time it's annoying 😐😒
It's Never enough tall or taller y/n in fanfic 😭
like for example:
y/n was bullied in school because she had a scar on her arm which basically relates her to her past life how she died and about her powers and shit like that-

okay, i dont have a full story (but i'm working on one) so, its like, male y/n lives with his mother ( big shock, he actually has parents) and his younger sister.
