I prefer longer, real time videos. I think I'm in the minority though, sadly. I love watching them once when I'm relaxing and then again when I paint my own stuff. My daughter is on the spectrum, I homeschool, and I have multiple chronic and painful health problems. Longer videos are the way I'm able to just relax. Sped up videos or videos that skip all over the place end up losing my attention haha. I watched this at 1.25x speed and it was perfect! Thank you!
I just read your post, while I’m trying to relax lying on my couch. I also have chronic pain and multiple health problems. Mine are from autoimmune diseases. I, too, homeschooled. My kids are grownup and gone now. Thinking of you and hoping you’re doing well. God bless you🙏🏻❤️
There’s really not enough real time watercolor videos! This is perfect for me to paint alongside you, with commentary that isn’t overbearing or music that is too distracting. Perfect! Thanks for the video! 😊
I like the long videos too! It was especially helpful for me to see how lightly your original "drawing" by watercolor was in comparison to the final painting, which was considerably darker. Thank you very much for both the drawing by watercolor base layer and the detailed video to completion.
Thank you! I've tried to make the same, but I've messed up at the very beginning, and wanted to give up after the first layer of watercolour. But than I've thought "what the heck, I've already failed, let's see where it will go" and at the end it turns out much better than I've hoped after the first fail. Of course, nobody will ever guess, that my drawing has anything to do with the reference, and it has a lot of mistakes and absolutely crazy and unnatural perpective, but I am happy with the final result. I am not an artist, and this result is pretty good to me, and what is more important - my fear of failing is not so strong now. Thank you once again!
Your watercolour videos are always so incredible! It has really inspired me to try out a new style of watercolour painting. Thank you for all the tips! I hope you continue to create amazing videos like these! ❤️
I enjoyed the long video, you have a wonderful voice for commentary it is soothing. I am glad you said what you did about black. I painted movie sets for many years and we mostly only used black when we did a set that was supposed to have been on fire. In nature you don't find black very often and when you do it mostly is because a fire or on and animal.
First of all I love your soft voice it's very calming to listen to while I watch!!! I am a beginner and needed to see how to use marker with a watercolour and really enjoyed seeing the way you did it. Eventually I will learn all the nuances of how paint works but for now you've given me a wonderful start.
I really admire your style of watercolour and now I have seen the real time version, I can appreciate all of the additional brush strokes and detail which make the painting come alive. Thank you for sharing.
the blank piece of paper fear is so real! i also have it...and this trick/tip to loosely color the sketch and basically getting an idea of what to even draw and how to , this really helped me out alot. huge thanks to u and this video.
I like your tutoring and style of drawing And I agree with you. That “In the imperfection is the beauty “. I appreciate your time in sharing your work.
This is how I approach my acrylic paintings and other art. I take my time, but at the same time try not to think about everything not being perfect. This gives my art character, makes it mine. Anyone can draw a perfect straight line or go to art school and learn great technique. It's the flowing movements in our hands that create true art.
Loved this video! It helped me so much to see all the steps. I just painted my first layer of my own reference photo and cannot wait to continue! The AI SHA KE brushes (red one) you mentioned is actually sold on Shein! I have a set and they are great!
"Draw what you see, not what you know." Wise words that my teacher said, a while back. I'm studying pedagogy, and chose arts and crafts studies this semester. I've been drawing and painting for years, but these words were an overdue reminder to me. Glad to hear it from you too! You paint so well, I aspire to paint like this.
Thank you for this super cozy and educational video. I like how you add your comments on top of the finished video, but still leave empty audio spaces. Your voice is so soothing to listen too 😍
It's been a long time since I wanted to start learning watercolor and your realtime video really motivated me thanks a lot, I would really appreciate more !!!!
I love your sketching and waterpainting videos. It's so beautiful and so relaxing to watch. You're amazing of what you are doing. Thank you for sharing your talents. It's so awesome and beautiful.
Really loved this. Watching the picture slowly come to life, and your voice is really relaxing to listen to. Just starting on my water colour journey so trying to let it all sink in! Thank you.
Can't wait to recreate this masterpiece. Don't worry I don't post it anywhere. In case I do so; I'll always give you the credit for inspiring me.❤ Your style of painting is something that I admire. So I'm looking forward to this 1-hr session. Best wishes from my side.
I have been painting with oils for many years and just started learning watercolors. I just love your work and have had your videos on repeat for inspiration. Thank you!!!
I really enjoyed this lesson, I painted along with you for the whole video! Thank you so much, I learned lots of new techniques and skills. Your voice is so calming and relaxing ~
I'm so happy you decided to make this video! I can definitely see why it won the poll, and I hope you'll make more real time sketching videos in the future. Your commentary/voice over was really helpful in reminding myself to get out of my head. I've just started watercolor painting (for the first time since I was a kid) and I'm really excited to try this piece and see what my loose sketch style is as a beginner.
Thank you, I really like your drawings. This video is great, you give a lot of tips 😜 since I tried your technique of sketching by eye with the wet-on-wet technique, my works are cleaner and without disturbing white holes and I relax more where to put light and shadows. Thanks again 😙
new subscriber! i didn't know loose sketching exist in watercolor (nor do i paint in general..) so this really helps me conquer my fear of painting!! will love to do this once i have the time. thank you! :)
I just came across your channel and I fell in love with this video! wow! I really loved the real time video and found it so inspiring and relaxing. I really enjoyed this!
I did this along with u and it was soo fun… it didn’t come out that well or good even but I really enjoyed to process and u can’t wait to make more paintings like these lol

I've watched the whole video. It is so beautiful , I admire your paintings very much😊❤️✨✨ It looks so natural just like a dream✨ Looking forward to more videos from you😊
So glad I have just discovered this channel. I love watching artists draw and paint. That Google street view is right up my street, pun not intended! :) It's the kind of place I would love to explore. Your voice is lovely as well, this is working like an ASMR video for me. 🥰
Patty- I really like this sketch. I have a book that gives the option to approach the page as you did yours. The painting is there and I have to put in the lines. Now I see how to do it. You make it look so easy and simple. Thank you.
So prettyyy🤍 I too struggle with focusing on making things too accurate... so much so that the funness and joy of making art is lost. Like I draw thinking it will relieve me of my stress, but then I obsess over the smallest details which gets me even more stressed lmao😅🥲 This has inspired me to be do more of what feels right instead of confining myself to the reference image. Will definitely be trying loose sketching. Keep up the beautiful work :)
Jillee, this is the first video of yours that I was very fortunate to have found this morning. I really quite enjoyed your style and your patience as you explained the different techniques that you were using. I must confess, I am not so much a fan of the background music.... your sweet voice is certainly pleasant enough.❤️ I am now a new subscriber and will look forward to seeing many of your other tutorials. I must say that this pen and ink is just charming and I look forward to giving it a go. I think I may even add some spring flowers to some of the pots for some added color! Thank you for sharing!☺️👍 👩🦳🖌️
i usually do graphite art but lately lost interest because the i didn't enjoy the process like i did before. i felt really guilty for abandoning art but then came here to just try out loose painting and i had so much fun during the process !! im really thankful, you described everything so nicely :D

I am a beginner, watching your long video helps me learn. Please continue !! 🙂
As someone just starting out, it's great to have videos that show *all* the steps like this.

That’s great! Yes, since it is already “failed”, you might as well keep going and try your best to finish it. That way you will learn much more!❤️💪
I love this, because it really walks you through how do to this so that you can apply it to every other watercolor city studies you may do.
