Ragnar has some of the highest HP of its tier and there are only 5 T10 DDs in the game who have enough HE pen to penetrate its broadside one of which is the Ragnar itself yet it still retains a fragile platform. Now... if WG gave it the specialized repair party of the Neustrashimy (and 1 more base charge)... And maybe a few more thousand HP it could make up for where its seriously lacking

It already has radar, armour, heal and out-trades most, if not all other DDs. Yes, it's a bit of a 1 trick pony and maybe it needs something else, but not hp, dpm or smoke. The way she is means it's very hard to do much without making her OP. As Malta proved, it can farm over 300k damage, which isn't possible in truly underpowered ships. If it get more DPM, it'd have to be in exchange for the radar or heal or something. If they're not careful they'd create Smalland 2.0 and she truly is OP.
Been thinking about this DD, watched your other vid from 10 or so months ago but I still wasn't convinced that this DD is for me, but now with this video, it might give me more motivation! Big Fan!
I used my last steel coupon to get Ragnar and adore mine, she takes a LOT of points to actually make great, but once you get to that point it's one of the best DDs in the game. I would highly, highly recommend her if you like gunboats
Those guns too, they are intriguing, you don't miss unless you miss, not much RNG with such guns, decent reload and great alpha. Radar, heal and strong speed boost too, what's not to like. Gunboats i find fun, but we'll see, still waiting for my coupon in the next 2 days.
Switched out my Ragnar stealth build with this. Much more enjoyable to reach out and touch most ships and have an impact. Enjoying it so far. Great vid.
I'm just considering buying it at the end of this CW season, thank you for your video and ideas! I think this ship acts like a Khaba while it have choices to counter dds when needed(Khaba 9.7 conceal so sad), and another thing is it's guns have 30mm pen which means it kite and kills most CAs in a short time.
Edit: by the end of the game I realize this question is obvious. the cv ignored you the entire game. He literally flew over you to farm bb's. do you think the enemy cv misplayed @14:50 by not going after you, or at least spotting for his team, when you are capping C? Actually, same thing at B a couple of minutes later. I guess he was focused on farming the A side of the map.
I must say, getting allowed to get those 2 caps helped us extend the game quite a long time, now I don't really play CVs so I wouldn't be the best to judge what he should've done, but probably getting me spotted there, does make it harder for me to actually get the caps.
CV wasn't farming, he was securing the flank. At B, he had jet rockets. At the angle of approach, it was not ideal for spotting more than a few seconds, not long enough for anyone to get a shot. If you look at where the fighters were dropped, that was the closest angle he could get to while still efficiently lining up for a strike on Conqueror In an organized match, CV could spot the capping DD, but in a pug match time is money for a good CV player. You really want to prioritize damage and kills over non-productive spotting. Take note, every ship the CV harassed was killed quickly and efficiently. TLDR: As a pug CV, you spot if you trust your teammates to finish kills. If you want to win, you need to apply hard damage and finish kills. I can't fault the enemy CV here, and definitely would not dismiss his acts as just "farming BBs." If you want to be critical, the Gearing here almost lost the game. At the beginning, he made the same mistake Yamagiri did. If Yama had support, the Gearing would've died. Then later, Gearing chased BB damage instead of flipping B cap (the game wasn't guaranteed yet at this point). Cherry on top was picking a duel with Ragnar, in which he should've died. Could've smoked up outside of radar range but just gunned a Ragnar full broadside, no kiting, no torps out - zero advantage. Went from 100% to 5% for nothing.
My favorite ship in the game. She's perfect. She's essentially a light cruiser without citadels for 80% of the game and the scariest DD hunter ever the other 20%.
I have smaland, i wanted my first steel ship to be the Ragnar , then i hear for that z42! ,but after that hard nerf from 3.1 seconds to 4.5 seconds base reload @ main battery of z42 made me no longer want it! so i might go for the Ragnar now and in the future maybe get z42 if she diserve it! actually keep in mind that they close teasting fro Brisbain but not for z42 , so this ship might get long time to go for steel! If you dont have Smaland get the Ragnar!

Currently consider between the Vallejo and Ragnar for the steel but i don't think i can get the Ragnar even with a coupon, i only have a little over 20k steel. I'm also planning on getting the Tromp for coal aswell.
Ragnar is only 20.250 steel witho coupon. You should really save for her, 3 ranked wins give 200 steel every 2 weeks, up to 600 total in bronze. It's easy to get the final few steel. Vallejo is probably not too bad either, but you will see Superships in 8 out of 10 games. T9 really is not a good place to be in at the moment, in my opionion. So i'd say wait for Ragnar.
I agree, try to get that little bit of steel elsewere, even the battlepass is gonna get you enough, I'd say definitely save for Raganar, I will pick it up myself this christmas after the steel whaling via christmas containers :) I have Vallejo already and it's also a fun and pretty good cruiser, but as said before me, T9 is not a fun tier at the moment unfortunately, it's plagued by the massive amounts of superships you'll have to face....

@@bias9440 Well, sorry to tell you, but if you're new to the game, you will not be able to whale steel. Not unless you have every premium ship that is available in the crates 😅 This will be my 4th christmas event in WoWs and there's only 1 rare ship left that they just added to the list and after that, every ship pull will be converted into steel for me. Still whaling these containers is always worth it, since you can get a whole bunch of new ships relatively quickly including some rare ones if you're really lucky or just whale hard enough ^^ Good luck on your pulls, greetings from Germany :)

It’s cute when people like Malta say they don’t fear DDs that can’t HEpen 25mm. Obviously their engines, guns, torpedo launchers and rudders don’t break every time they are hit Nor do they catch fire more easily than a tinder box filled with petrol and matches
You can build Ragnar 2 ways: 1. BB farmer (what you did) or 2. DD hunter ... in the 1st role you will do a lot of damage but your game influence will be low, in 2nd role you will have a huge game influence but low damage as you will lack the range to farm phat ships effectively ... and you will die a lot compared to 1. I have to try the 1st variant now :-)
you cant hit ragnar with marceau shells above 8 km! i have try it with marceau and i know! from the other hand ragnar can hit you from longer ranges because of that 900 m /s! Most of times you will end up losing at longer ranges, Marceay will be better at short range, but thats not always tha case! ragnar got plate that Marceau HE cant pen so less damage! during the fight ragnar push the heal too! so its so frustrating! most of times i lost in 1 vs 1 with my Marceau and i have 21 skill comander so a lot of dpm with fearless browler adrenalin rush and of course survivability expert! over all ragnar got 4600 hp pool + than marceau
For me this ship stands about 64% WR, but only because I use it when playing with friends, being the front pusher against DDs and some smoke cruisers. Working more as a scout than a dmg dealer. I can do good damage, but usually only against bad players that show too much of the ship. The ship itself is still useful, however it requires your aim to be very precise due to the low amount of shells and somewhat high reload. Overall it competes with the Småland, which is a much more competent ship. I'd rank it at 3/5.
I've seen it good in ranked. It's a DD killer. That's it's job. Kill DDs and farm everything else. In ranked, killing the DDs is usually the quickest way to win. Problem is she's too hyper specialised and doesn't have the ability to do quick damage to larger targets. She's like Asashio, great at dealing with 1 class and mediocre at fighting the others.
@@Joshua-fi4ji when facing good opponent in DD she doesn't seem so scary. i.e. marceau will consume her if she gets too close and ... she is slow with boost on cd...
and no, you don't play Ragnar in ranked because she's a light support and a disruption, you don't play her because people spam nothing but Napoli and RU cruisers in ranked.

and no, you don't play Ragnar in ranked because she's a light support and a disruption, you don't play her because people spam nothing but Napoli and RU cruisers in ranked.
@@Joshua-fi4ji it is not strictly a dd killer, point of ragnar is it can do farm and kill dd as well as dedicated ships for those tasks. Using it as a dd hunter is dumb but using it to farm is also dumb.Doing both is the correct playstyle
Rangar is inherently inferior. He lacks the necessary attributes to decisively influence the outcome of the game. No significant burst damage, split turrets and still a fragile platform. I would always put 1 Conqueror...Thunderer or 1 DM or even just 1 CA over 2 Ragnars on my team. Well... if WG gave him the Nestrashimy's specialized repair squad (and 1 more base charge)... And maybe a few thousand more HP to make up for the deficits. 50

I would take 1 Conqueror..Thunderer or 1 DM or even 1 of just about any CA over 2 Ragnars on my team any day of the week. Now... If WG gave it the specialized repair party of the Nestrashimy ( and 1 more base charge)... And maybe a few more thousand HP if could make up for where it is seriously lacking with longevity
