Me too. My first CD was 'Tossing Seeds Singles 89-91' in 8th grade in 1994. This band, as well as Archers of Loaf and Jawbox are my top 3 favorite indie bands. After that, I would say Shiner, The Raymond Brake, and Meices.

I remember being a freshmen in 96' and buying 'Heres Where The Strings Come In' the day it dropped. Was so excited for that and it lived up to Spin Magazines '8' outta '10 rating.

You mean, that’s your “favorite” Superchunk record? Just because it’s your favorite, doesn’t make it their “best”, & who cares about rankings, really? Just like what you like & stop making absurd declarations.

And that's saying something, @Doctor Synth ! They have a really solid, criminally underrated canon. When trying to pick their zenith recording, it's always in acknowledgement of their prolificacy, that I arrive inevitably where I started...at On The Mouth. And somehow still, I'm amazed that after 30-some years of listening, my opinion of their wider body of work remains in flux. So, I suppose officially, my personal ranking of Superchunk albums is as follows:
      1. On The Mouth (1993)
🥇Best Album Gold Medal because @Vee Hickle
      2. (All other work) ...but Come Pick Me Up (1999)
is a good place to start. Not that they hadn't grown firmly into their roots by the turn of the century, but damn near anything Jim O'Rourke produces is better off for it. And please forgive the hyperbole, as there are certainly are missteps and a few wild pitches amid 11 LP's and more than a few great EP's and B-Sides. But, save the odd brush stroke, Superchunk have been remarkably consistent.
...and No Pocky For Kitty (1991) is a beast but I digress.
