    What rolls down stairs
    Alone or in pairs,
    rolls over your neighbor's dog?
    What's great for a snack
    and fits on your back?
    it's log, log, log!
    it's log, log!
    It's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
    it's log, log!
it's better than bad, it's good!
    Everyone wants a log!
    You're gonna love it, log!
Come on and get your log!
    Everyone needs a log!
    log, log, log!

so I am really interested in your method for polishing the spikes and also bending them.

Speaking as a jewellery polisher with many years experience I would guess that a real heavy duty grinder would be the first tool to use. Isidro mentioned the quality of metal involved in the spike so as long as you work carefully you should have no problems with fragments flying off and causing injury. But always wear safety goggles and gloves when doing tasks of this type. The next step would be to remove the deeper score marks left by the first grinding. Different grades of carborundum wheels and paper discs then to steadily reduce the size of the score marks until finally the finishing polish with abrasive compounds until mirror smooth. Highly polished indeed from the video footage. Remember also that working on your items will mark the surface eventually so be prepared to maintain the mirror finish on a regular basis. I trust this will be of some use to you and good luck with your endeavours.
