I'm 20 and by now i thought i had lung cancer, heart attack, brain tumor, stomach cancer, leukemia (every time when blood is leaking from my nose), internal bleeding into brain, mouse fever, tetanus etc. Sometimes i spend entire days depressed and convinced that my life will end soon and i was just thinking how my family will be sad after i die. Even if doctor says that my health is OK i always think that he didn't look properly. This hypochondria is really a horrible thing, and it does affect my social life

people who do not have hypocondria will never understand what we go through i had simple head pains that i would turn into major headpains that i thought were bloodclots or turmers in my brain. chest pain was a heart attack. a twitch in my hand meant i was had a nervous disorder. im 17 this all hurt my social life as well as life in general

Same here, I wanted to go to the ER or urgent care, because I was extremely dizzy, chest paints, etc, if you personally know a nurse or doctor as a close friend, family etc I would feel more comfortable talking to them, because you know them, and for some reason my attacks gets worst when I'm shopping at stores with bright lights, and shinny floors, like Target, Walmart.

Same thing often happens to me. Sometimes i feel a little pain in my back or in right arm and i immediatelly think i have lung cancer. Than, because of fear my pulse grows which makes breathing harder and my fears graetaer. This is only one example. I'm just 20 and by now i thought i have at least 7-8 deadly diseases and cancers. Sometimes, I am depresed for several days, just thinking of how i'm going to die soon.

“I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.” This is true but quite depressing with anxiety - you look back and see that you've wasted your life enduring lots of mental suffering and hypothetical catastrophic events which may as well have been real - such is the power of the mind.

I used to think that i had chest pains which meant i was going to have a heart attack, i had a bruise on my index finger and believed that it was going to get amputated i thought that my itchy feet was due to diebetes which was also going to get amputated, I had a pain in my knees and thaught they were going to get amputated i had a pain in the top of my head and thought i was going to have a tumor and whenever i had headaces i believed i was going to have a stroke or anyerysm.. and alot of other symptoms continued today. Also earlier today i was worried that 2 of my moles were melanoma moles. This is a very tormenting disease.

You're not the only one. We're all fearing cancer, HIV, and heart attacks together. And since we're all fearing them, and not 100% of us can be truly experiencing them, it gives me comfort. But I agree, not a lot of conversations going on about this, unless it's being used for comedic relief.

I am a 16 year old hypochondriac guy. Ever since I could read, i've been obsessively reading food labels and eating healthy and when I was 9 years old, i was convinced I had throat cancer and i wouldnt swallow any food unless it was liquid or puree. Nothing was medically wrong. Throughout the years, i have been using the internet to help diagnose myself. I had a stomach ache and i thought it was a hernia. And now my lymph nodes are swollen, so i am scared that I have cancer or AIDs.
But I really wish i could stop all this obsessive and sick thoughts.

    • @veritywebster9458

LXRD KRVNKZ so good to know I'm not the only one! In the end I moaned so much that my Mum took me to the Doctors and they said they weren't 100% sure what it was but it definitely wasn't serious or life threatening (which I'd convinced myself it was!) and I did some tests and stuff and they all came back negative and then about 2 weeks later the pain went away! So the only advice I would give to you is don't search your symptoms up online again because 90% of the time the results they come up with are wrong and also DON'T WORRY - go to the Doctors, they're professional and can properly diagnose you! Good Luck :)

I am a hypochondriac even though I'm only 16. I was doing a project for biology and I came across the fact that 1 in every 3 people will have cancer in their lifetime, and from that moment on, every single ache or pain would be associated to cancer, even though I try to eat healthy, I swim twice a week, I'm average weight (slightly underweight) I still get so paranoid that it scares me to tears somedays, super glad to know that theres people like me going through this! i've been panicking about this deadly disease for about 5 or 6 months now,and i didn't know what to do anymore.
the fear of this thing actually ruined all of my days, but this video made me realise that if i pay attention to my surroundings and if i just think positively, everything will go alright and i will live a happy life.

why do people assume that health anxiety sufferers are so obsessed with their health that they are usually in tiptop condition!! this is not always the case, infact many are to scared to get checked incase something is discovered and they fear finding out their ill, anxiety really is a living nightmare for some

I've suffered from hypochondria since my early teenage years. At 12, I was afraid of leukemia and I was convinced that I caught it. But it got worse later: when I was 16, I was often feeling a pain in my chest, and I was pretty sure it was a heart attack. One night, I got so nervous that I had a panicked attack making my heart beat so fast that I almost fainted. With time, and experience, I've learned some ways to make myself feel better: first of all, I got to know my body. For example, the red spot I got on my body are not the symptoms of a lupus as I might believe, but are only the consequence of my stress. Actually, the internet made me able to learn about my body. I am not a genius in biology, so I've decided to learn stuffs by myself. Also in most of the websites that speak about health, they put forward some hypothesis about the origin of your pain. Of course, the answer "CANCER" is the most striking, the most scary answer, but we tend to forget that there are other possibilities. For example, the other day, my stomach was hurting so I wanted to know what the internet was thinking about that. There were some options but I can only remember 2 of them: cancer or too oily food. So I convinced myself that it was the second proposition, and even of the day after that I was afraid of the pain would come back, I quickly realised that it was nothing to worry about.
Now I am still hypochondriac, I still think about a lot of stuffs when my body hurts, but when I really feel down and worried, I just try keeping my mind busy with something that I like, buried also talk about it. I talk about it with my friends or my boyfriend and I know that having someone else's point of view can make me feel better quickly. The fact is that we hypochondriac people, what we are looking for is other people's attention and love. In my case, I really think this is what I need. However, don't be afraid to talk about your problem to someone who understand you, like another hypochondriac person or someone that wouldn't juge you.

Everyday I stress over the thought of having a heart attack and it has caused me to fall into depression because of it. I truly hope that I get over this soon or else I’m gonna lose my mind.

But, I still feel somethings there... hiding. Waiting. There's nothing!! Nothing!!! I have to stop this now. It consumes way to much of my time. Getting very little work done. I'm 32 years old and suffering from this. I was dizzy for two weeks and went to see a neurologist thinking I had a brain tumor. I was crying everyday before I saw him because I convinced myself I was gonna die in 2 years. Neuro said my brain mri was perfect, but leaving the office I thought he made a mistake. Three days after that I had a stomach virus and I went to ER two times to see if I had colon cancer. Ct scan came back negative but again I feel like I have something terminal. Now, I think I have a problem with my prostate or testicles because my back is hurting, I have a herniated disc from an accident 4 years ago. This is really bothering me and I can't have a day of peace.

All came back normal. Those pain were real but all test came back normal or nothing serious. Health anxiety has consumed my life. Still struggling to overcome it till this very moment. Internet make it worse for googling the symptoms. The fact is most Doctor refused my request to do those procedure but I always insisted. I found out that if I work out and tackle the real problem behind the stress it would just go away :D.
Find the real reason behind your anxiety, this helped in my situation.
And if it's keeping you up at night for a long time... just go to a doctor and explain, they'll get you help before you become a loner.

i have had hypochondria for 3 months now, i use to play it off like it was nothing, i never thought anxiety could be bad, but it kind of caught up to me, every morning i check the mirror and i go crazy. i cant stop thinking that i am going to get hiv or aids somewhere, i have not had sex in 2 years so i know its kind of rediculous to think i have it, but it wont stop me from thinking i contracted it from using my friends lip balm or something stupid months ago. its hard for me to talk about because the very word HIV or AIDS on the internet or tv will send my body into shock and i just want to hide away somewhere, my heart will palpitate i get shortness of breath andi get dizzy which just further makes me believe im dying of aids or something its terrible and i deal with it atleast once or twice a day, i sometimes lose my apetite even though im famished and it further makes me believe im dying, but the thing that scares me the most is that i go to uni in 2 months, holyshit idk how im going to make it. horrible, i would not wish these thoughts on anyone, it really drains your body of everything to the point where your body is constantly in fight or flight mode.

Sometimes I feel like the doctors doesn't want to see those of us that's dealing with anxiety attacks, because they know there's nothing wrong with us, and we're just making a big deal out of everything, which I can understand, however I find some of those doctors rude, they could spend a little more extra time with us, that's if they have some spear time to help us feel at ease, rather than rushing us out the door.
I'm not going to lie, I was sacred when I told my doctor i been getting dizzy, having chest pains, etc, and I even told him I believe I have anxiety, by me telling him I have chest pains, he told me to lay down, and I started to freak out, he had his nurse check my heart rate with some type of machine, and he told me I'm fine, and not to let anything worry me because I'm going to let the anxiety attacks fully control my mind, that help me feel better for a few days, but lately I been thinking crazy, I hate it that I can't stop thinking.

I had this really bad back in 2012-2013, worst fears were MS, brain, blood pressure, heart (the usual fears). After having all the tests in 2014 come back clear, for the most part I have been hypochondria-free ever since, it still tries to come back sometimes but it's so much easier to brush aside with peace of mind hearing from doctors you are healthy. Do not fall victim to hypochondria, go to the doctor and stop worrying especially if you are young there is pretty much nothing to worry about.

  • @Rezzyy
    @Rezzyy 8 лет назад +4

I suffered about a year of hypochondria, it started by thinking I had problems with my heart because of smoking or my drugs use, a few times after taking drugs I thought I was having a heart attack and went to the hospital emergency ny myself and got checked all over! The symptoms which I thought I had because of my heart problems occured almost everyday, aches and pressing feelings on my left chest and arm, so I was convinced something was wrong, even after several check ups I kept thinking that and the symptoms stayed, also some other crazy symphyoms occured which made me think I had other deceases too, I even wanted to try therapy but the psychiatrist told me straight forward I got paranoid because of my drug use, now drugs is not needed to get this disorder but in my case it was probably a cause of it. And basicly all the symptoms I had, I created them with my own mind, and these were major physical symptoms. How I helped myself- because at the end you have to figure a way out for yourself- was just imagine myself being free and not needing going to the doctor all the time. As you may have heard thoughts create reality and this is very true, visualize yourself living normal and being a normal and thats how you may leave this bullshit behind.

No Joke... I had crazy sky high blood pressure (medically not due to panic ... that hadn't happen yet .) and went back and forth to the hospital 3 times in a month... since then I haven't left my house or went to work in 20 day... this video made me realize this new anxiety I have about everything is from my fear of having something with my heart go wrong again ... I gotta chill out. It's been hell
On earth . One month in on two blood pressure meds and all natural food intake the Bp is still high but going down slowly.. but the new found panic attacks are crippling... basically I think a medical scare triggered health anxiety at age 32..
I am trying to work thru it. I will say this . My pulse and BP were lower after watching this video ✌️️

I am scared to have schizophrenia and I think that everything I see aren't real. When I talk to someone I need to really see that person's mouth just to make sure that the words are coming from that person. I get really paranoid and even when I wake up in the morning from sleep, I already feel nervous. And when I search the symptoms of Schizophrenia, I get more nervous and paranoid. I don't know if some of you already experienced this but I feel like I'm the only one that is like this, which is weird. I'm still young and I've been experiencing this for 4 months already. Jonny Q great comment! I'm 32. I started having a terrible fear of a cerebral stroke after my father in law died of one. I started feeling symptoms of a cerebral stroke abd was waiting just for the moment when I'd see blurry with one eye and when I'd have pain on my arm and when I'm wont be able to express my self and speak normally. Went twice to the doc for this. Now it's with cancer. I also lived with HIV anxiety from 14 to 22 ( my first HIV test) so I guess I developped hypochondria at an earlt age. What I can say is that it is something that kills you slowly and ruins your life and health. I always have a question which is: if we are asked not to worry and that it wont happen to us, then WTF it happened to others who have this diseases? Are they not humans like us? So if it happened to them then it could also happen to us right? Sorry for my english

My hypochondria started when I was 6. Yup, 6. I remember the words “ill”, “disease”, and “microbe” used to terrify me. I’d doodle over them whenever I saw them in my books, so that I wouldn’t have to read those scary words again. Once when I was 8, I got the flu and I woke up my Mom in the middle of the night, crying and telling her I had AIDS. When I was 10, I thought I had tapeworm. Ages 11-17 was kinda normal, but it all came back at 17 after I fell into depression. I started thinking that I had breast cancer. I was terrified of hpv despite the fact that I wasn’t even having sex at the time. I’m 23 now and since then, I’ve thought I had heart disease, brain tumor, cervical cancer, kidney disease, ovarian cancer, hernia, endometriosis, blood clots in my leg veins, eye tumor, mouth cancer, and more, despite the fact that I had none. I’d stay up till 4 am crying, thinking I was gonna die soon. I still can’t get over it though. It’s interfering with my school and social life. Even when my test results come back safe, I somehow end up thinking it might be a false negative.

Same here man. I already compulsively wash my hands and Hypochondria is just an icing on the cake. For example, I ate some bread with some pate spread on it. Now that pate was alright, nothing wrong ,the taste is good, no smell, no bumps in the can no acidic water nothing. And somehow, some way something came on my mind to tell me I have Botulism, and I keep telling myself that there was nothing wrong with me eating that thing and it was in perfectly good conditions but nooo. At that point my mid started deveolpoing symptoms, I was constaintly checking my eyes and everything. Luckly enough I bullied myself into stopping. Fuck hypochondria man, as if OCD wasn't bad enough.

I went to the doctor because I thought I was having a heart attack and she said that everything is perfectly fine with my heart I also did blood test and everything was fine but I still feel really anxious about my health and I always look up my symptoms on google. Lately my left arm was hurting I looked up my symptoms on google and it said it's a heart attack sign which made me even more scared. But then another one said that a pain in the arms comes from a bad spine which I have. I suggest not to look up your symptoms online cuz it does make things worse

I'm honestly depressed over this. My legs were hurting bad and it went to my fingers and now I'm scared I may have thyroid cancer. I wanna kill myself sometimes because I'm scared that I have cancer and that it spreaded to late and I will die. I have anxiety, and panic attacks. I pray every morning and day to the Lord hoping that I'll be alright but deep down inside I'm numb I'm empty I'm scared. I've cried so many times the last few months. When you have the symptoms it's scary. I look on Google everyday and I just end up crying because of what I see :((((. I'm in depression because of it. I just went to the doctors, but I'm going back. I want CT scans, blood test everything. Im really scared of them telling me I have cancer :(( I don't know what to do I'm so sad. Nobody understands me.

I myself am a hyperchondriac and it is a horrible feeling. Everytime I feel a stomach pain, or anything I will freak out. I've had blood tests you name it and I'm told I'm healthy by lots of people, always looking for some kind of reassurence. It really stressed me out and stress can make you ill, I got a Urine Track Infection which is painful and straight away thought it was HIV or an STD which I know I don't have. I find going to places with friends and keeping your mind off it helps because the more you think about it the worse it'll be. Also I find relaxing helps as well, you could try herbal remedies that calm you down. I do know what goes through your head, I've had panic attacks, thoughts of suicide you name it. If you struggle please feel free to message me and I'll see if I can help.

It helped a lot. I'm 14 and I'm hypochondriac since I'm 11. Even though I don't have any symptoms of an illness, I start thinking that I'm dying. For example, when I smile, one of my eyes is slightly more closed than the other one so I started thinking that I had the silent sinus syndrome or when I have a headache, the first thing I
think is that I have a brain tumour or that I have some kind of rare disease and I will die. Then, I go on Google to search my symptoms and it gets worst... It's sad how peoples don't even know what's hypochondria or think that it is ridiculous and that anxiety it's much worse. They don't know what is the feeling of being convinced that you're gonna die , each and every day...

I have been suffering with this since 2013. It is completely debilitating, I couldn’t go out of the house for 4 months! One technique i found useful is when you have a symptom is to make a deal with yourself to ignore it and not to check it or look it up for 3 weeks and if still there then go to the doctor. Often it will go away or you will forget about it in that time

I'm the same way my dizziness doesn't go away as well, sometimes it's not as bad, and there's days it's really bad, how do you feel when you're laying down? Does it feel like you're going to slide off bed, and when I'm standing I feel like I'm on a endless boat ride, I can't walk straight because I'm unbalanced.

hey , im having the exact same thing, i am ALMOST SURE I HAVE HIV/AIDS, but my parents laugh at me, my grandparent said that i have hypochondria, i dont believe it, and anything normal that appears in my body, i say to my self " ok, i gotta save money for my possible hiv treatment." I had a normal life till i searched about aids online (curiosity) and i started to see the symptoms online, and i freaked out, i had 1 or 2 symptoms, that were tiredness (could be because i am extremely sedentary), white toungue ( i rarely brush my teeth), and burning urine ( i drink about a little water bottle a day, i dont drink much water), and i think about that for 24 hrs a day, and if something normal appears in my body, like a mosquito bite, i say " its aids rash, i know its aids rash, it has to be", WHATS GOING ON W/ ME????? ( i also measure my weight about 5 or 6 times a day, to make sure if i am not losing weight) i am so depressed that i rarely eat

im 23 years old from germany and it all started by the age of 10.. i dont know exactly why it started but it was during a very bad time in my life. i was forced into a some kind of labour camp and it was horrible. it ws in there where i first got those real intense anxiety attacks because i discovered purple spots on my penis. i was really really scared because i didnt know if it was dangerous or not but it later turned out that it was pretty normal.. during the 13 years i had times where those anxiety attacks where pretty much gone and other times where they came and it was really hard to deal with them. in the past 13 years i was scared about parkinson, eye cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, bone cancer, breast cancer (even though im male), testicular cancer, retinitis pigmentosa (i though i would go blind) and lots of more stuff. i visited so many doctors in my life because of my hypochondria but luckly here in germany its pretty much free so i dont have to pay anything. its quite a shitty thing to have but what me helped the most was to deal with death itself a bit more. i feel like by reducing the fear of death u also reduce the fear to get sick. i just have to remind myself a lot that death isnt all that bad because i wont notice it anyway. its like the nonexistence i had before i was born. but i also lose all my knowledge and skills i built over the past 23 years. its rather sad because all that knowledge i have right now gives me so much freedom. and once im dead everything is gone again. thats so sad. many people around me dont have troubles dying / even want to die but im completely different. i dont wanna die at all, i love being alive especially now since i did almost all the work to enjoy my freedom. maybe i should get some medication that reduces anxiety or remove the part of the brain that is responsible for the hypochondria. ppl without hypochondria need to realize that its not easy to rationalize against hypochondria. even if u are as educated and smart as me. its just so hard to get rid off.

Dont worry man I also suffer from hypochondria. Every slight thing wrong with me gets blown way out of proportion its really annoying. I constantly seek reassurance that im ok and that nothing is wrong with me, only the next day id be worrying about something new. When you get these problems its really important that you tell yourself that nothing is wrong with you. That its simply hypochondria messing with your head. Find something to do to take your mind off it, anything at all. Cheer up sufferers just remember there are millions of people who are going through the exact same thing. You're not alone. You can fight this guys. Yes its very hard to start with but keep at it and you will start living a happier and more fulfilling lifestyle. Best of luck everyone.

SDKsa1 I know exactly what your going through. It is very exhausting and frustrating. Hell i'm a 22 year old guy and it even breaks me to tears a lot. You have to tell yourself that whatever it is you are feeling or thinking that it will pass. The reason why you constantly have these thoughts in your head is because you are trying really hard to ignore them. That is a big no! Ignoring the thoughts does nothing but make them worse. Everytime you ignore the thoughts the worry gets stronger and stronger. Keep telling yourself that it is only hypochondria and anxiety making you feel this way. I assure you 100% that you are completely fine. I know its easier to say than do I get that completely. Its very damaging to your social and physical wellbeing. The best way to deal with hypochondria and anxiety is to not ignore the thought but embrace it. Keep telling yourself that your ok and its nothing. You will get through this I promise you. If you really cant deal with it no more then go to a doctor and just explain everything to him/her. Trust me it feels so much better to get things off your chest. You will either be given anti-depressants or be seen by a therapist. Trust me there is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist no one has to know anything you say as it is all confidential. If you really want to get rid of this problem and live a happy life then please go and do something about it. Get it sorted and rid it out of your life. You will be a lot happier I promise you. Do you mind me asking what the problem is you are suffering with?
