Agreed this is not for watch geeks but for the average consumer who wants a stylish watch. Hope Seiko gets the marketing right. As for the price it is still a lot of watch for the money. A heritage that dates back to the 60s, with hands and dial from the 70s, a case designed in the 80s, which became a legend in the 90s.
You speak words of wisdom, I've had and have a few 5 sports, but never owned an SKX, so on just my experience of the 5 , I love em! My bro is a watch snob and will only wear something in excess of 5k, however a RUclipsr friend remarked, "look at some of the lovely watches he's missing out on", I feel this so speaks for the 5 / SKX argument. Why miss out on a lovely watch? Great honest review my friend
Affordable watches are a preference for me. I bought a Rolex but it left me cold. I get more joy from finding affordable pieces that light a fire. If you like the skx I'd suggest checking out the Citizen Promaster NY0040 (see my other Vids) it's another awesome piece for the price. Thanks for watching and commenting, it is appreciated.

I got myself 3 Seiko 5 sports within two months😅 All bought as cheap as possible. They can really be found for a killer price if you’re a bit patient. Extremely durable watches, as the name says, it’s a Sports watch and not meant for diving. The hardlex glass is almost as tough as sapphire, and the 100 meter water resistance is more than necessary, for a busy lifestyle, 50 meters would be adequate. And then there is the design😍 you really get a lot in this watch.
SRPD71 owner here, after a Black Friday sale at Kohl's here in the U.S. at a price I couldn't resist. Appears to keep time about as well as any of my quartz watches. Overall, no quibbles I have with it are relevant in context. The limited colorways and 7s26 were prime detractors for me regarding the SKX. My suspicion is that the critics of the 5KX conveniently ignore the SKX demerits. The Internet does provide such a luxury.
Just picked up the srpd51 and I am blown away by it. The dial colour and finish is supurb. I've put it on a jubilee and it sits next to the 007. It has drilled lugs which is a plus. They are 159 pounds on Amazon at the moment. Bargain

I agree with your views , and have ordered one from eBay, didn’t think to look on amazon ,, liked the skx but sold mine as get fed up with no winding , guess 99 percent who moan about the 200 mtrs have never dived in there lives , mine will dive about 4 inches into the washing up bowl on rare occasion, even if the lume is great or poor doesn’t make a difference to me , don’t wear a watch to bed , and if I did wouldn’t see it unfortunately wear glasses , so hacking and hand winding fantastic , display back , fantastic , looks fantastic,there’s 27 to choose from ,, think I’ll be over the moon when mine gets delivered , although I think I paid to much 209 quid never mind ,,, will review up it on my poor youtube in a wks time all being well cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
In today's world an expensive watch may see only occasional use. Watches can be easily damaged at the desk while working with compuers. Repeated unscewing of the crown may put an unnecessary stress on the mechanism. It makes better sense to have a non-renewable crown on a watch.
Agree - people way too picky. You got lucky with the price - I paid slightly more (not much more) for the classic look 55K1 but also got lucky on a sale price from a retailer not usually that good on price - clearly a mistake as the watch was removed from sale just after I purchased. Nowhere on Amazon or others was it at this price and certainly not the price you got (albeit 6 months later and price of sterling gone down). Anyway, great watch, good timekeeper (loses 4 to 5 seconds per day), great look and on the wrist feel. The hacking ability is worth having, I don't need 200 metres or a screwdown crown, and not bothered about Hardlex. But I have a great Seiko for a great price. Good review thanks. And by the way, my bezel insert lines up perfectly with the dial so that is not an issue.

These are NOT true divers (just like the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba), but... how many of us really need 200m water resistance for office duties?
I reckon they look choice. I think most of the watch buying public would know nothing about the iso diving standards and would buy this watch thinking it’s a diver. Those people will only swim with this watch and never have a problem.
I paid £249 for my seiko 5 with the Pepsi bezel last week 🤔 absolutely love it tho. Been tracking the time for a week now and first three days it was 7-8 seconds fast now for last 4 has said it’s 0 seconds and spot in every 12 hours I check the app
I think the new seiko 5 is better,the skx is a cold and common divers watch,the seiko 5 have better appearance,colors,personality,great new logo,better movement i think. So my vote for seiko 5 and i have ordered one.
£163 uk. Don't pay too much attention to RRP from Seiko. The price nearly always comes down from resellers. I may have got lucky with an Amazon weird pricing glitch.

Seiko will be discounting the shit out of these after the Holidays.
